View Full Version : Will Brahmer be Calzaghe's downfall?

Brahmer is the most likely future opponent for the Calzaghe-Kessler winner.Hatton was beaten by him in the amateurs and said Jurgen was an amazing talent.Brahmer was a world class amateur and he only trained for 5 weeks before the first Veit fight which just isn't enough at this level. He also spend 1 year in jail but those days seem to be behind him...I see in Jurgen a complete fighter who could very well be the first one to beat an (ancient) Calzaghe.

That's a wee bit to far into the future for me to look with this big one coming up.

That's all I have to add.
No, I'll say this too, he beat Veit... VEIT! Also known as the chinless wonder who gets wobbled by a jab. Oh, I hope he fights the winner of JC vs MK, because that would be a lot easier for the winner than fighting guys like, Mundine, Bute, Lacy or even Froch.
Did you even see how Velazco put Braehmers ass on the ground in his last fight? If Velazco could give Braehmer a run for his money, which he did, what do you think a top boxer would do to him? Or does Braehmer also have an excuse for that dismal performance?

Cerdan avenging his loss to Delannoit.
If not for the booze and women Delannoit could have been a great one....

I doubt Brahmer will get Calzaghe or Kessler. By the time Calzaghe or Kessler win, they'll look for a big fight, maybe Bute if he becomes IBF champ OR a homecoming versus a random like Brahmer.

It took him two attempts to beat Veit.
Brahmer should be far away from getting a titelfight guys like Bute, Froch,
Inkin, Zuniga, Pascal, Tsypko, Andrade or even Miranda should be first.

Oh ok. Good job they want him but its probably more realistic if he went after Bute. Calzaghe-Kessler winner has nothing left at 168. Only if a P4P guy wants to fight them there i.e. Taylor, Wright, Pavlik, Hopkins etc
Brahmer best chance is if they use him as a home fight in Cardiff or Denmark.

Maybe if Calzaghe fights him when he is nearing 40, but as of now, if he fought him after a potential Kessler victory, I see him winning a decision.

I'll guess if he fight and deafeat 3 of those guy's, he'll deserve a shot for a title

Brähmer is not that good. If Calzageh beats Kessler, someone like Brähmer will be easy work. Lacy would knock him out, Kessler would knock him out, Calzaghe would knock him out, just to name a few.

Those 4 you mentioned as P4P would get wiped out by Calzaghe or Kessler, they are not currently operating on this level.

Taylor is P4P - this is irrefutable.
Wright is P4P - he has just dropped a few spots.
Hopkins is P4P - this is irrefutable.
Pavlik - his name is in the mix on the basis that he beat Taylor and would then be a major player who could easily fight at 168.

Well, Taylor is going to get KTFO, so that'll drop him immediatley.
Pavlik is simply just a solid fighter at 160, he's not a P4P level fighter and never will be.
Wright would beat who at 168?
Hopkins would beat what top fighters from 168-175? Not too many, he is really showing his age.
I find it absurd to rank Hopkins a top P4P just for defeating Winky at 170 pounds, Winky is much less potent at 160 than he was at 154, much less 170, it was just a 'name' win.
I can't pick Hopkins over the top 5 at LHW, thus I can't still legitimately rank him a top P4P. Nobody would give Calzaghe or Kessler any credit for wiping the floor with Hopkins in his current state, nobody would, he'd then just be 'old', which is what I am claiming now, he's 42 and showing it.
Winky's done as a top class P4P fighter, he was a great 154.

God you talk absolute fucking shite.
Hopkins, Taylor and Wright would all beat Kessler. Pavlik is too fucking raw to get past Kessler's jab and make his power count so Kessler scores another boringly one sided round by round victory.
Hopkins would give Calzaghe his toughest fight, a great southpaw killer, good on the inside, great with roughing up his opponent and adequate enough with lateral movement and angles to make his presence be known against Calzaghe.
Taylor vs Calzaghe WILL BE (cause it's going to happen after Kessler gets whipped) more competitive than Calzaghe vs Kessler.
Mark those words.
Oh, you won't be able too - you'll be gone, after betting three months on that errant fuck, Pavlik.
Only shows your ignorance Blockhead.
And it's 6 months, no 3, I hope you will properly fuck off and not come back under an alias.
I'm a really big fan of Hopkins but I don't really want to see him fight Calzaghe at this point. He's simply too old to deal with him, especially for 12 rounds and Calzaghe would get a lot of credit for beating him, which might damage Hopkins' legacy a little bit. I agree with Amsterdam that both Calzaghe and Kessler would beat Taylor, Pavlik, and Wright pretty easily. The best and toughest match for Calzaghe to take would be fighting Dawson. If Calzaghe dominates Kessler and when Dawson destroys Diaconu the fight will be huge and the winner would deserve a TON of credit.

Brähmer was 3 years in jail, which cost him a lot. In the amateurs he beat Ricky Hatton, Carl Froch and Felix Sturm (at least this is said)
He would win against them again, if they fight 4 rounds. He seems not to be made for 12 rounds yet.
His chin is a bit suspect lately.

Exactly. Hopkins is no longer a real elite P4P type fighter, it's heavily annoying that because of retiring and then marginally defeating a 170 pound Wright he is considered up there with his current H2H ability.
Chad Dawson defeating Adamek wide and if he does the same to Diaconu will deserve a P4P spot. Wright means very little at this point, he does not have an impressive 160 record, much less even higher, the fact that this was for the 'lineal' title at 170 pounds pisses me off.
If Hopkins wants serious LHW consideration, then fight a fucking young, motivated fighter, not these recycled names.
