I know this has been said before but after listening to glen "boring" mcrory and johnny nelson lick floyd balls after beating a lightweight I just can't take anymore!!
I usually think pipers crap but tonight he showed some balls/non sky conformity..

I mean the question was asked who they thought could beat mayweather and as soon as piper even remotely put a few good names out there e.g mosley and Paul 'punnisher' Williams(who I think would give him hell)..mcrory jumps in sucks floyd nuts and proclaims he's the greatest and END of potential debate!

Sorry if I sound like a raving lunatic but can these guys not see or even agree he was fighting a much smaller man or begin a debate!!!

I think floyds a great fighter..but no way should he get as my h credit as those halfwits were giving him..BRING BACK BUNCE!!

Sorry again for the rant!

Max Kelleraman was the one who really annoyed me last night. His post match interview was awful and Floyd was spot on when he said "you do too much talking!!" The guy just would not shut up and let him answer anything!!!

I think Adam Smith has been found dead.... having choked on Floyd's dick.

The commentary was absolutely disgusting.

And that interview..... would love to hear Buncey's views.

That was the perfect stylistic match-up for Floyd, against a clearly undersized opponent.

Nothing will change the fact Mayweather lost rounds to Henry Brussells, DeMarcus Corely, Ricky Hatton and Zab Judah.

Mayweather is too one dimensional and would have close to zero chance against Paul Williams, if Williams utilized a Joe Calzaghe style of fighting.

Mayweather has no effective defence against pity-patter punches and can easily be beaten on volume.

The commentary was truly awful. In the third round, one which Marquez won, neither Smith or Watt commented positively on Marquez once. Watch it again and youll see. Not once.

That, is disgraceful. If we want to clean up the sport, get rid if shitty, scumbag promoters, biased judges...commentators like Watt also need to go.

It ruined the fight for me. They gave Marquez nothing at all and he didn't deserve that.

And the 12th of John/Juarez was never a 10/10 round.

I'm off to watch Arguello twat Watt over and over until I calm down. Absolute useless cunt.

Was just about to make this same thread.

What a disgraceful commentary. Watt and Smith ought to be fucking ashamed of themselves. There arse licking fan boy adoration made the bile rise up in my throat at several points.

Smith: Mayweather's the greatest boxer ever, isn't he Jim?

Watt: Can't argue there Smithy, and he's one hell of a humanitarian too; saves small kids from burning houses in his spare time.

Smith: And his balls taste great as well, don't they Jim?

Watt: Don't really know, I'm round at the back door. I'm trying to stick my tongue as far up his arse as I can, but the hair around the hole is doing an excellent job of counter-punching my probing tongue. You can't train arse hair to do that Smithy, that's just something the hair is born with.

Smith: That Mexican guy.....:?.....can't remember his name....just landed with a solid right hand, and Mayweather just smiled.

Watt: I know in every other fight I've covered that I always say thats a sign that the guy was hurt by the punch, but this time its different.

Smith: Because its Mayweather?

Watt: Exactly Smithy. Not many know that Mayweather has an invisible shield of steel that covers his entire body, and that cannot be penetrated by anything. The US government fired Nukes at it once, just for a laugh. Didn't even make a dent. Thats not the kind of steel you can train, its the kinda steel you're born with.

Smith: Mayweather's balls taste really good Jim.

Watt: I'm gonna come around and have a go, so make room. This defensively perfect arse hair has got the better of me. Oh wait, that was a nice left hook by Mayweather!

Smith: I wish he'd left hook me, right up the arse.

Smith and Watt are completely inept. Watt was never as bad when Darke was around, seems to chats to the level of his co-host.

Inept judgement of the action in both the John-Juarez AND Floyd-JMM fights, as well as the ineptitude of the Fury-McDermott fight. Seems they can only call fights as complete drubbings rather than close fights.

Every time Marquez did anything, any time he tried to press the fight...........nothing. And Nelson afterwards saying how good this win is, Marquez was clearly outsized.

Good performance from Floyd, nice event, good undercard and at least he's back. But he needs to man up and face Mosley.

but guys, are you going to make a thread about sky's commentry and lay out of the FFN everytime they cover a boxing event cause it's the same old same old, yeah there commentry team and panel aren't the best but atleast they've shown this fight (on Sky Sports 1) and they've got some good fights coming up too.

They've just confirmed Hattons' next 8 shows also (was in news of the world today)

tell you what does piss me off tho....as great as Sky+ is, this happens to often...a programme that you've recorded goes past the scheduled time and the recording cuts off right in the middle of the show. i got back from work this morning, stuck the boxing on and only got to the 3rd round and "END OF PROGRAMMING", good job they repeated the fight at 8 o'clock. Has happened to me a lot with tennis and football going into extra time, they need to fix this

What did you think of Watt last night?

Like I said earlier, the third round was Marquez', yet he didn't get a single mention. How can he justify that level of bias? The amount of punches he didn't call from Marquez was a joke. He evensaid at one point, Marquez had landed "two or three clean puncheeeeeeeeeeees". What nonsense.

Sky have such a shit boxing team. Nelson is, remarkably, more boring in a suit than gloves. McCrory sounds like an idiot and has zero enthusiasm. There's no knowledge or passion there.

It may sound sycophantic, but Britsh boxing needed Gutteridge and Carpenter. Right now, it needs Bunce.

And Kellerman was awful too. That interview was pure hype and would have built a great fight. He should have let them argue. It's what everyone wants to see, so why try and get a respectable interview when you know the answer is going to be "Im going to talk to my managers". Boxing interviews are usually poor and this time, Kellerman made sure it was.

Watt: I'm gonna come around and have a go, so make room. This defensively perfect arse hair has got the better of me. Oh wait, that was a nice left hook by Mayweather!

Smith: I wish he'd left hook me, right up the arse.

:rofl

I backed Watt up with the whole Fury vs McDermott commentary - but not this time, everything was truely terrible - from the completely pro-Mayweather promotion to McCrory intentionally saying "I have my concerns about Floyd coming back after 2 years..." (everyone knew he was pretty much at his best even though he had the lay-off) and then once he won, his earlier quote was used to suck on Mayweather's balls even more! "Its as if he never left! Just like Leonard coming back against Hagler!".................:patsch

They did ballhug Mayweather, but his performance was great so I wasn't too bothered.

More concerning was Watt's scorecards in the Katsidis and John fights.

I've been saying that as well, TFFP. Truly terrible scoring once again and he was shown up when HBO and the real scorecards were read out:rofl! God knows how the Katsidis fight was an SD, though :blood:think. Ah well.

As for HBO's star with a mic...don't even get me started. He's unfuckingemployable.

Adios.

Make sure you send in your cv, I dont think you will have any shortage of referees from us lot.

Sky need to sack the lot of those fuckin headcases. Kellerman is another joke, how do these fuckers get these jobs in the first place.

Listening to the commentary last night from the first fight, Cruz v Locke - they didn't have a decent thing to say about Locke early on, they were dissing is recent form, did they not see his stellar performance in the war with Escalante, a fight that I wiil have to watch again.

They kept on saying..

When JMM landed a punch..

"What price is he gonna pay for that"

"Look at the price he paid in the other round"

Trying to make out, Floyd Mayweather was breaking his ribbs and cracking his cheek bone....when all he was doing was..landing Jabs and occassional pot shots.

I think it was Jim Watt, getting emotional for no reason.

I think Adam was putting words into Watt's mouth all through the fight. When JMM landed clean punches Smith was still talking about Floyd's greatness to Jim. Clark who looks like he gonna throw a dart when asking questions needs to be replaced by Dempsey & don't get me started on Johnny Nelson.

For the American fights they should get in someone like Wayne McCullough as he knows everything about all the fighters from the US the new faces and the old ones and he seems to know his stuff. His blog on Sky is always worth a look at times.
They need Dempsey back Dave Clark knows fuck all about boxing and is a joke and should stick to darts. I wouldn't mind Buncey back on tv but do you need too many pundits. Some of the guess hosts looked decent I remember Hatton on 1 Friday fight night even get in a whole new team. Scrap the current team and set up and try something different it will breathe life into the show.

Its kinda weird reading this thread cos I dodged the result & only watched it on SKY at 5pm in my pals house, when they repeated it.

My pal said he wouldnt give away the result, & was as good as his word. He sat on the computer whilst I watched the fight, & from the second round onwards I was getting so wound up by the commentary I started moaning & mouthing off, boxing gets me so wound up, I cant help myself:patsch
My poor buddy had to suffer me moaning without being able to offer his own opinion, but the commentary was so awful I was raging & got a splitting headache for my troubles:oops:
As soon as the fight finished my pal told me that everyone on ESB was in agreement with my rants & raves, including him! & he said he had never seen a thread on ESB when everyone was in total agreement about something so completely...

I was happy to hear it, & then to read it. However, on the downside the commentary annoyed me so much that I couldnt concentrate on the fight properly as Smith & Watt were SO out of control, they actually ruined the fight for me:-( Hence the aforementioned headache.

Watt was SO disrespectful to a great like Marquez, I cannot even put it into words how I feel about him & his paid offness. Insulting to the intelligence? Thats doing Smith & Watt a favour.
& what abouth the post fight fawning from Glenn, Jonny & MENSA man? Followed by Smith doing his usual Alan Partridge impressions & Watt just being Watt(can he get more annoying than being himself?)

Great fight, ruined by the SKY team. Ruined by Kellerman. Ruined by that prick Mosley.
Thank fuck Mayweather is back though, as the man says, boxing has missed him.

Agree with all that, they were pissing me off bigtime, im ashamed that Watt is Scottish after last night, sure both him and the other guy slept at each side of Mayweather later on.

He beat a guy who only moved up to 135 for two fights at age 35 and was moving up two more weight classes at age 36, was enough to make you sick their arselicking.

ODLH showed how to beat him, albeit for half a fight.

Its dreadful and completely outdated. Same with the football, how on earth Richard Keys has kept that job for about 17 years is sickening, he is utterly clueless.

Jim Watt just baffles me and seems to go to ridiculous extremes, a great round leads to a fighter being amazing, perfect display etc and a bad round and the fighter isnt cut out for this level, to much of a step up bla bla. The fella's in the studio barely ever have any sort of disagreement.

Whoever you get is going to annoy some of the people some of the time.

Personally I'd like to have the option of watching a fight without a commentary just hearing the crowd noise and corners.

When you're at a fight it always seems more difficult to me to score the fight. When it's on the telly who you think is winning a round is reinforced by the commentary team and it seems a lot more clear cut then when you're there.

I don't mind Mccrory as a co-commentator TBH. Piper just seems happy to be there and Nelson has his own agenda. Would we prefer to have Colin 'I've been saying that for years and it gives me no pleasure to say that i was right' Hart in though?

Ya the Sky commentary was shocking bad. Halfway through the fight when Marquez was holding his own again, they were talking about whether or not he should give up.

They were just following the company line because Sky know they will be putting Mayweather on box office again. Fucking terrible.

Was ruining the fight for us too. Towards the end of the fight we muted the sound and got commentary off the internet.

I'm not sure how old you are but I'm old enough to remember how football was covered before Sky got their grubby hands on the game...

Andy Gray hypes up players, teams and matches and, in turn, this has created a whole new breed of fan who talk complete and utter bollocks about football.

He is also, in my opinion, to blame for the obsession in England for "exciting" football. In the 70's and 80's our top sides played good tactical football which filtered down through the 1st division and, in turn, created a league where everyone could beat everyone else and any English side in Europe had a good to excellent chance of winning a trophy. Now, thanks to him, all these twats who didn't even like football before the Premier league started demand "exciting" football and our league has become very top heavy and only the big sides have any real chance of success in European competition.

:lol::lol: what a sadist!

This has gone well off topic but I can't believe you are blaiming Andy Gray for transforming the EPL to one of the biggest earners and most exciting leagues in the world. Even the Championship has it's own branding now and is brilliant to watch

I am from Scotland mate, where everyone can beat each other (apart from maybe the old filth) and I support Inverness Caley Thistle (where I attend the majority of away matches throughout a season) there is a well known saying "be careful what you ask for".

The SPL and the majority of scottish football is dying a death because there is no excitement and not enough people coming to watch the game, punters or tv coverage, so if Andy Gray is responsible for the hype involved in your English League he might have saved it.

I personally believe that sport thrives on competition. When I first started to attend football the 1st division was probably the most competitve in European football if not World. Now our "Premier" league is really 3 leagues in one and you have more crap than competitive games.

As for "exciting". What is exciting? Don't you find it arrogant that Sky and, in particular, Andy Gray try to dictate what people should enjoy? Lets use films as an anology. In the film world you get dramas, thrillers, art, comedies and various other genres. I bet very few people only like one of these. Same as music. So why in football is the premier league of playing the only style that can be enjoyed? All you hear these twats saying is that the Italian and German leagues are boring and yet, all it is another way of playing the match. Why can't both styles be enjoyed?

Imagine if you were told that you could like either, for example, fighters in the Mayweather mould or in the Mayorga mould but not the two styles. How would you feel? Hopefully you'd realise that certain boxers are suited to particular styles and both can be enjoyed. Same as football. Certain Premier League sides would benefit by playing a more thoughtful, tactical game and yet they are encouraged to play at 100mph.

The best example, perhaps, is Arsenal. Their fans have been brainwashed, by the johnny come latelys, that they are only to play one style of football and yet if they sometimes slowed the game down and played with a bit of common sense and with a tactical approach they'd probably have won more trophies.

Andy Gray is honestly to blame for all of that.

Are you saying that Andy Gray has brain washed Arsene Wenger??

I can assure you it's the manager of the club that dictates the style of play from a club. They train with the players week in and week out, graining a certain style or tactic into them.

Bolton have a completely different style from Arsenal... you're not looking close enough if you can't see the variation in your league

I like Mayweather and Jim Watt but that was the funniest post I've heard on here

woah, the Sky boys are getting a lot of hate on here.

Personally I Like Watt, although I gotta say that he sometimes picks a fighter and just keeps giving praise throughout the fight. I can see how the casual fans would be swayed by his opinion.

Smith is very passionate about the sport and knows his stuff.

I find Nelson pretty boring.

McCrory is okay but he was pretty much worshipping Floyd during the Marquez fight. Yes it was an awesome performance but no mention of the fact that he was fighting a lightweight when he could have fought Mosely. To top it all off, he even wrote an article praising Floyd on the sky website, which makes Floyd sound like Ali, SRR, SRL and Duran rolled into one.

Piper is not afraid to disagree and I loved the look he gave to Colin Hart during Khan/Prescott. During Floyd/Marquez he was asked if Pacquiao had a chance against Floyd "of course Pacquiao has a chance". I thought that was pretty cool because McCrory and the others were just nuthugging Floyd.

They can be annoying sometimes but they're not a bad team IMO. Buncey would probably be better than most of them but even he can sound a bit patronising. Some of his rants can get irritating too.

And yes, the Sky boys are hyping up Khan, Floyd, Hatton and everyone else who they'll put on Box office but don't try and tell me Setenta didn't do the same. I watched the Bunce show every fucking week and David fucking Haye was the main subject on every episode. If they weren't interviewing him in the studio he was on the phone, or they had Adam booth talking about him. They should've just called it the Bunce and Haye show. Even Sky didn't nuthug Hatton has much as that.

Okay so maybe its not quite that bad, but you have to admit Buncey's nuthugging of Haye was almost there. Pretty close.

Anyway, my solution is to get Geoffrey Boycott, Mark Nicholas, Bob Willis, Beefy and Nasser Hussain commentating on the boxing. That would be a dream come true for me.

Piss off!

If I tune into England's first match in South Africa and hear Johnny Nelson, Jim Watt and Adam Smith doing the commentary I'm putting a shoe through the screen.

Dude its only fair. Bunce can talk about Haye on all of his shows and get away with it but if Sky do it theyr'e shit? c'mon now. If Haye had half the support that Hatton has, Setanta would also be proclaiming him "the peoples champion", "man of the people" etc.

Sky in general are awful at plugging there own. It wasnt until setanta sports came along you realised there was other sports news in the world
