Thought i would put together a style guide of all the different styles with a small write up on them and great examples to watch to learn about the style. It can help you guys out who are new to the sport and want to know the styles and help out more advanced guys with good examples to watch etc...

Ill be back to add in extra info later but heres just the main styles

Boxer - Outfighter

A boxer or an outfighter is a fighter that tends to keep the fight at long range behind their jab. Usually these fighters are tall and fast with great fundamentals. Generally they use long straight punches to keep the fight at their optimal distance.

There are 3 main categories for Boxers

Classical Boxer: This is a fighter who uses a cultured lead hand with lots of lateral movement.

Examples: Ken Buchanan, Howard Winstone, Tommy Loughran, Gene Tunney

Eastern Boxer: this is generally a tall fighter who keeps his hands high and uses stiff jabs and crosses to keep at long range, often regarded as 'Robotic'

Examples: Wladimir Klitschko, Dennis Boystov

'American' Boxer: I use 'American' becase of lack of another name. Generally a more exciting boxer similar to a boxer-puncher but uses lots of lateral movement and fast combinations.

Examples: Muhammed Ali, Barney Ross

Boxers as a whole generally do well against boxers but have a stylistic disadvantage against pressur fighters.
