No idea but I was surprised that quite a few of my friends talked to me about the fight yesterday. That usually only happens if Hatton or Khan is fighting.

Same here surprisingly.

Everyone of them, without fail, asked me what was the 'weight issue' people kept talking about - shows what a piss poor job Sky did of educating the causals.

Yeah, I had the same experience. A couple of people who I didn't think payed attention to boxing, mentioned the Mayweather fight, and I was like "erm...ok". First time thats ever happened, TBH.

My sister was at work on Saturday night and she said that everyone was talking about the fight. I was quite pleased to hear that.

I watched it but I fell asleep for 30 seconds in round 7 so maybe technically I don't count.

I think a lot of people would have got the Sunday morning repeats which is probably why a lot of casual punters are talking about the fight. It being free to air (ish) seems to have made a noticable difference

I think quite a few watched it.......

Went to see my Mum on the sunday and even she said 'did you watch the big fight last night then?'......:scaredas:

That Bolton Fucker was talking about in Radio 1 apparently

Let's hope Sky realise that Boxing is popular when you deliver it's superstars to our screens.

Sidenote: Get Cotto/Pacquiao on Sky Sports(not Box Office) in November.

Same my friends and others in school were talkin about the fite this is very irregular cos i dont know many people who are actually that into boxing in school execpt meself so maybe sky will take these ratings and decide to buy more big fites...well i hope so anyway

as someone said already, people cought the repeats, i think only the die hards (of which there are thousands) stayed up to watch it live.

setanta used to get decent figures for fights shown at that time, so i'd expect sky's figures to be healthy seeing as sky have a bigger audience base and its mayweather

the US PPV figures won't be out for a couple of weeks.

Probably more of my mates watched it then for any fight in my 3 years at my present company.

I think an overwhelming part of that was that it was a huge fight on sky sports and not box office.

thats true, because if it was PPV then even the replays would've been PPV as well

I cant imagine casual fans being too entertained by Mayweather...

Pure boxing fans appreciate his skill but for many hes boring..especially against an overmatched lightweight.

More people watched it as the fight was built up by Skysports news/Skysports.

It pisses me off that SkySports News only build things up that Sky are showing. Surely if its a big sports story it deserves mentioned regardless of it being shown??

Thats why i loved Setanta, they weren't afraid to disect fights that Sky were covering.

I watched it but i was arseholed and spent the whole fight arguing with my twat mate who said there was no size difference between the two

It'd have been better for boxing if it had been a competitive fight, if Floyd had fought someone remotely of his own size and calibre

really, it just depends on how you educate casuals and what their expections are.

the impression i got from the casuals i spoke to was that they knew they were watching a master at work and just awed by it.

if you tell people to watch boxing for the knockouts then thats what they'll be looking for, its just the expectations.

Same hear. The fight was a big topic of conversation where I work. Plus it started the debate on who would win bet Pac and Mayweather.

Most people I know recorded it on their Sky+ and watched it on Sunday. Do they count towards the viewing figures? Hope they do.

Cotto will derail those plans. :yep

I am going to look like such a tit if Pac wins, especially seeing as I'll have a Danny Dyer avatar for a month.

This site went down not soon before the fight (and stayed off for hours), which is pretty unusual. It normally crashes just after a big fight.

Thats the Floyd Mayweather effect - he has so many fans and haters, that everyone wanted to voice their opinion after the fight. Look at the 'most times visited' thing at the bottom of the main thread page, just last week this forum had the most visitors at any one time ever.

The last time I remember the forum running slow/not working was the Khan vs Prescott fight - I had just been out with my mates, as soon as I got in, quickly got a stream up and all I seen was a still picture of the ref talking to Khan so I knew something had happened - tried to get on here and took about 5 minutes just to load up the site and get to this forum.

Indeed. Found these, Eastside seems to be getting more popular too.

I watched it with my son.

I used to see all the big fights with my Pops.

But don't get me started on that.
We watched only to see JMM get beat up by a bigger guy. No, that's not right. I hoped that JMM could maybe forlornly have a chance of tagging FMJ. he couldn't...of course he couldn't...what boxing fan ever thought that he could?

He was just a patsy to build some publicity for the next "mega-fight" for FMJ. JMM is a great fighter who deserved more than that, but he took the cash.

It's just a shame that FMJ is protecting his 0 so flagrantly as I believe he could actually do something fairly spectacular in the couple of years he has left. But for god's sake.."man up" and fight a big guy.
I know very little about boxing compared to some on here, but the great fighters used to take on all comers, didn't they?
Mayweather has the skills, it's now time to stretch himself, there are meaningful fights out there for him. Or will he do the thing we all expect....money, money..not meaningful.
SRR lost a few, He's still THE P4P ATG for me.

FarmBoxer you have to be the most boring poster on this whole site. I can gaurantee that every morning at around 6am'ish you will be on the British Forumm giving it the same old shit on the same 2 topics........

"Joe Calzaghe is brilliant I love the taste of his cum.............."

"VOID this, VOID that, VOID VOID VOID - Did anyone else see what I did with his name there??"

You'd be far better suited to the General, We'd dont appreciate moronic Yanks on this forum......Now Fuck off !

JC - I know what your saying pal. Really hoping now that Floyd takes on these 3 at the very least..... Manny, Shane, Cotto as I see him beating all 3 anyway

Seeing him take on Tony and Williams would be fantastic and I think he beats Tony easily and Williams at L/Middle too. Not sure whether or not Williams will fight again there again, allthough TBH I suspect if it was for Floyd he would do :good
