Got another great weekend of fights to look forward to :happy:happy.

First up on Friday, Matt Macklin aims to win the vacant Euro title against tough Finnish fucker "Idi" Amin Asikainen. @ the nickname.

Here's Amin's fight against Ghevor in full (Asikainen is the taller guy):

Then on Saturday, over in Ireland, Bernard Dunne has a tough first defence against a Thai bloke who we'll call Poon for simplicity's sake. Here's his fight against Somsak at Bantam:

Poon-Cordoba is also on Youtube. :good

If that's not enough then in the early hours of Sunday morning we have a HW title fight that could actually be entertaining . Vitali Klitschko takes on Cristobal "titties" Arreola in a defence of his WBC title.

I think for this fight the weigh will tell us a bit about how the fight will go. If Arreola's in decent shape then he could give this faded version of Vitali some problems.

In addition to all of that we've got Jean Pascal-Silvio Branco on Friday and David Diaz-Jesus Chavez on Saturday. You can legally buy the Diaz-Chavez card, which won't be televised, for $9.99 from Gofightlive.tv.

Unfortunately, only Macklin-Asikainen will be televised on British TV (SS2, 10pm).

Yep, we had a fantastic card with Rigondeaux headlining on Friday 'night' (the twats on the general are saying he's 'overhyped' and feeding off of bums after 3 fights!:patsch) and an awesome card on Saturday 'night' from Vegas. This weekend we've got another awesome Friday (can't wait to see Pascal again) and an equally awesome card from Ireland on Saturday:happy. Shit- I forgot about Vit-Arreola just then!!!:yep:happy

To think that just a few months ago there was nothing and now all of a sudden there are fights coming from all over the shop:happy:party.

We've got a lot of good fights coming up.

I think Macklin will do a number on Asikainen. Dunne v Kratingdaenggym has the potential to be an absolute storming fight. All in all, a belting weekend.

Love the nicknames!

And another great weekend of fights! Poon could give Dunne some problems I think but it will be an awesome fight. Macklin should handle Asikainen. VitKlit will destroy Arreola. He's shit!

Got to go the other way, mate. I think MM takes him down in the late rounds in a tough, action packed fight. I haven't seen a lot of Asikainen but from the little i have seen he is tough and hits hard but he is far to easy to hit (especially by the straight right) and has been stopped a couple of times before.

I have only seen Poonsawat fight Cordoba but he seems like a tough little twat.

From distance he leaps in a bit with his shots and was getting countered quite effectively and rather to easily by Cordoba but up close hes an animal. I'm going to go watch him fight that other Thai bloke on youtube so that i can make a more informed judgment but on first impressions this could be a very tough fight for Dunne.

Should be a *******.

Asikainen is a good fighter. Seriously, he can crack and his skills are not bad. He's a bit slow and soft centered, they are his main problems. He seems to unravel after a while.

Macklin mid rounds

I'll go for Poonsawat too, don't know why.

He's a big name fighter... literally.

Stupid jokes aside, Dunne's been to the well. It'll be interesting to see if he's got anything left. I hope so but I'm not convinced either:conf. Should be a fantastic fight, though.

Dunne by TKO i don't think the Cordoba fight was a one off. Hoping Macklin to win Amin's chin has to be dodgy with that Gevor loss by TKO on it.

No Vitali fight on tv then :verysad Vitali to pound Arreola into submission. Any news on what size Chris is haven't been on here properly in while

I am half finnish. Amin is the only prominent Finnish fighter out there so got to get behind him.

he is a typical Euro fighter. Good jab. solid. only lost to top oppo. Macklin will have to put on his best ever performance to beat the guy.

Macklin doesn't have the "Sisu" thats why he will not win!!!

Matt Macklin steps up in a shot at the vacant European middleweight title against Scandinavia’s dangerous if ageing “Idi” Amin Asikainen this Friday (September 25).
Macklin, the former British middleweight king from Birmingham, relinquished his Lonsdale Belt for this opportunity and enjoys the advantage of virtual home backing in Manchester, where local Guinness king Ricky Hatton promotes, but Asikainen is a seasoned banger who has already held this title, a title he plucked from local man Sebastian Sylvester – now the IBF middleweight champion - in Germany in 2006 on a gutsy eight-round stoppage
Oh yes, the Finn knows how to win an EBU title abroad and to beat a good man in the process.
Sylvester, however, gained his revenge in 11 Arounds in 2007 and Asikainen has since also been stopped by Armenian dangerman Khoren Gevor (seven rounds). At 26-2 (17) Asikainen can dish it out but does not take it so well and might – just might - be on the decline at 33, although Sylvester and Gevor are both world class.
This gives the fresher, 27-year-old Macklin a real shout at a real title. Macklin whacks himself at 24-2 (17) and certainly looks to have the better chin. He crushed canny veteran Wayne Elcock to win his old British title in an all-Birmingham showdown earlier this year in three rounds, while only Salford southpaw star Jamie Moore has ever stopped him, more from exhaustion than anything else, in a classic encounter down at light-middleweight (10 rounds).
Even in defeat, Macklin showed what a quality operator he is that night and immediately moved up to middleweight where he has won seven on the spin, one of them a 10-round decision over Mexcian iron man Yory "Boy" Campas in March 2008 in Dublin. Asikainen, however, managed to stop Campas just a month earlier in Helsinki in seven exciting rounds, which shows you his potential threat to Macklin - a month earlier! The last thing a fighter loses is his punch.
Nevertheless, this is a great opportunity for Macklin to push himself up the world rankings and put one over big domestic rival “Dazzling” Darren Barker, who holds the Commonwealth middleweight title and has been looking good for some time.
The six year age gap, Macklin’s better chin and steady improvement since Moore in 2006, a nice mixture of boxing to go with his natural aggression and power nowadays, and home advantage, of course, all add up to give Macklin the edge, although the tough visitor will undoubtedly make it hairy.

Anyway cant wait, i'm hoping for a cracking fight and to get my moneys worth with the other fights on the undercard..

That thought has crossed my mind too, just looking at photos of Poon in Ireland, he seems to be the bigger man, did anyone else think this?

The danger is Dunne getting caught up in the electric atmosphere and taking more risks than is needed early on in this fight. Dunne has the game to box and move and I hope he is disciplined, if he can do this in the earlier rounds I think he can wait for the right moment to test Poons chin.

My mate is driving this time, so I can have a couple of pints before the card starts. There are a few buses organised from different places, but I normally take the car....
