On so many levels.

There seems to be a lot of bitterness (Freddy-wak and one or two others aside) towards Hatton for doing a complete number on Castillo. There are so many negative things being said about him and his fans.

Firstly, to address the people hating on his fans: you are the same people who say that boxers need to fight in the US to have more credibility and respect. You ask for Hatton, you get the whole package, Ricky and all his fans. I think you have sour grapes that so many Brits think enough of him to travel all that way to see 10-11 minutes of boxing. Or maybe you are just jealous that we've got passports at all.. I don't know, you tell me. If it was the singing you disliked, turn the volume down. This way you might actually form your own opinion about the fight.

Secondly, give some respect to Hatton who thoroughly outclassed Castillo, not because he was shot, but because he got beaten by the better man. Be man enough to say that you were wrong and not pick on any small thing that could be construed as negative from Hatton. He went in there and did such a good job on Castillo that even the staunchest Ricky fan can't believe how quick it ended. I'm not the biggest Hatton fan but I respect that he's very good and a fit Ricky Hatton was always going to beat this form of Castillo (in my opinion).

That's it - it's fine to dislike him for whatever reason, but don't try and discredit him for what was a professional dismantling of a very good boxer.

I support this post and add this statement.

The people who are criticising Hatton now and dismissing Castillo now after the fight, are the same people who predicted that Castillo would beat Hatton.

Sour Grapes.:good

I dont have any problems with his fans, most fans in other parts of the world are more animated than American fans so thats expected.

There is a lot of doubt about Hatton right now, right or not right, and he can do a number on that doubt by continuing to do what he did last night, fight his ass off. Thats all he needs to focus on.

I like his fans, although a little of their schtick goes a long way.

There are extreme reactions all over the board today. I think it's fair to credit for Ricky for a stellar performance in which -- through no fault of his own -- his opponent unfortunately is shot. All Hatton can do is fight the guy in front of him, and there was at least some reason to hope that Castillo was merely looking past Ngoudjo and would return to form.

Any refusal to ackowledge the above hints of bias to me. All those points were quite obvious.

For me I'm just happy for him to keep winning.

He was a great amateur.

He is a great pro.

He is a great champ.

When he fights guys 30+ yrs they are 'shot', people say he needs to fight younger hungrier guys.

When he fights those younger guys, they were not elite, they were C class fighter ets.

When he fought in Manchester that was the only reason he won. Hometown ref, judges, wont move away to fight legitimately, protected in the UK etc. He comes to the States and has 3 world title fights in a row, takes all 3. Now he has become a dirty fighter with no skill because the excuses are running out.

For me just keep winning Ricky. I was more than happy to see one of the great bodyshot KO's of all time put a JLC down on his knee - the same JLC who was never stopped via KO only by TKO in his career.

He doesn't have anything more to prove to the public, he is a warrior who shows no fear, walks through punches to stalk down his pray and has delivered the big 'W' 43/43. What more can he do?

Questions are sure to still be asked from those skeptics. My bet is that he continues to answer the questions emphatically as he has done for the last 10 years in the pro ranks.

I was wrong. I picked Castillo, not because i like either fighter better, but i did get a little carried away in cheering him up. It was a great showing by Hatton and wish him continued success.

It was a brilliant body shot, round the back of the elbow - Castillo was covering up, there is a chance he could have done the same to the Castillo who arguably beat Mayweather. That said it was a little bit of luck Ricky got it done so quickly, you might expect the fight to last longer 9/10 times.

Its actualy first time that I saw hatton, and he impressed me alot, shot or not shot casttilio is a great fighter, but I think he just couldnt handel faster and more agressive fighter.
As for fans, ppl here in europe are more emotional and theres nothing wrong with that.

I think you are blinding yourself from the reality that Castillo was, in fact, shot. He looked shot in his previous fight and, given his age and ringwear -- particularly after the first Corrales fight -- it makes sense that he would be in decline.

But I agree it was a great win, and Castillo's condition is in no way Ricky's fault. I'm not a fan of Hatton the fighter because of all the holding, but I like him a lot as a person and congratulate him and his fans on his success. He seems to be a great representative for many folks at home, so he deserves a lot of applause for that.

Again, though, you must be willing accept reasonable criticism/qualifying/doubts from others, because they are valid. If you contest any of the points made, then do it. But please dispense with the persecution complex.

I don't know how things are where you're from, but where I'm from that definitely qualifies as a homosexual statement.

On an other note, Hatton's hugging and overall lack of pedigree/skill ensure that his day is indeed coming.

What's up with you? Hatton is at 140, PBF is at 147 & 154 . . . even if PBF beats the hell out of Hatton that doesn't prove anything because Hatton is a smaller guy.

:rofl :patsch

Give me a fucking break. There is no way in hell hatton is a smaller man then PBF. PBF only moved up to chase bigger fights. Hatton dehyrates down to 140 and puts on a ton of weight by the time he gets in the ring. PBF steps into the ring@149 lbs no matter what weight class he's fighting at. I bet hatton was 152+ in the ring last night.

Hatton had trouble at 147 because he was finally fighting a guy HIS OWN SIZE, which made his holding/pushing techniques less effective.

Hatton's overall lack of pedigree/skill ensure that his day is indeed coming.A lot of people watching Hatton make his Sky debut years and years ago could instantly see Hatton had world class pedigree and followed him from there.
