gary mason vs david haye

mason may pull off a win here ,yes he was very slow and his stamina was perhaps questionable but he could take a shot and punch a bit himself

haye as we know is fast, hits hard and well his stamina is a very big ? as are his heavyweight credentials

at the moment with haye pretty much unproven at heavy i would give mason the nod but if haye can beat the giant then i would edge toward haye

Mason might be a bit too heavy handed for Haye

Haye isn't blasting Mason out, that's for sure. Lennox is a much harder puncher than Haye and could hardly put a dent in Mason (apart from tearing Mason's eyes up)

Lennox also absorbed a fair bit of punishment from Mason but his under rated chin was able to take it, Haye's wouldn't. Mason had serious power and size, I don't see Haye winning this one...

Mason by mid to late KO.

Haye should be too classy for Mason. If a drug ravaged Biggs almost beat him, I do not see Mason beating Haye.

Haye is going to have to be careful because of his soft chin, and not get too excited because as mentioned Mason had a chin and the heart to go with it, but I can see Haye winning comfortable over the distance.

Lets just hang fire a bit on Haye's chin here guys.

We should get some prety definite answers one way or the other during his next few fights.

Haye's chin is a ? mark. He was dropped and badly hurt by Mormeck, that's a fact and Mormeck does NOT hit like Mason. It might be servicable but it's safe to say that it isn't very good.

Yes but Haye had to nearly kill himself to make weight for the Mormeck fight and people close to him had been advising him to step up instead of taking the fight.

Now we don't know what moving up will do to his chin. It might get better or it might get worse.

Haye's chin cost him gold in the amateur World Championships. He had some really dodgy moments as a Cruiserweight, before the weight was a issue, and even Monte decked him as a Heavyweight....

As stated above, I still think Haye is a class above anything Mason was, but his chin is always going to be a concern in Heavyweight fights.

Mason only really fought one good fighter - Lennox Lewis, who was a comparative novice in only his 14th or 15th fight.... whereas Mason had had well over 30.

Frank Maloney wrote in his book that he was very surprised Mason's team took the fight, stating that if he was in their position he would have avoided Lennox like the plague - yet Mickey Duff was of the view that Lewis's team had pushed their man too quickly.

I think Haye's speed would be the factor in this one, but until the last bell goes you cannot rule out Mason. Haye has had stamina issues and has been put flat on his ass by lighter hitters than Gary.
