Deep down inside - most people see Taylor winning this fight anyway - that's why their not betting.

Getting excited about the 29th??? It will be a miracle if I survive this one. We should exchange cell phone #'s, so we can hook up after fight. PM me if you think thats a good idea.

I'm not a bettting man. I just wanna see Pavlik win more for himself than anything. He deserves it, for sure! He's worked awfully hard for this shot.

I thought Taylor looked quite impressive in all of his showings as of late. I just put all 500 on taylor. Now let me ask you something, is Cory Spinks really that bad of a boxer that taylor should have knocked him out? Spinks has got talent and people need to recognize that no matter how shitty his style is. And btw, taylor won that fight on points. Landed the cleaner, harder shots and was the aggressor. Wait till pavlik eats a straight right from taylor and hits the deck, then get ready to eat some crow.

Whatever - I remember tons of people losing a lot of vcash on DLH-PBF because they bet early and the thread got deleted. There's no point in making a vcash bet until just before the fight, since the odds can't change.

Taylor has the physical tools to have put away his last 3 opponents but for some reason he seems gunshy every time. He has been bigger, stronger and comparable speed-wise to then/to his last 3 opponents yet he's won dodgy/shitty UDs. Not to mention the fights with hopkins. No KOs in his last 5 fights either. I am not a taylor hater, it's just amuzing when people are willing to put money(vbookie or any kind) on this guy just like that.

Ummm, he has arguably beaten arguably the best fighter of this generation....TWICE....in two close fights. Then fought to a tie with one of the top 5 p4p fighters in the world, in another close fight. Then he SHUT OUT (pretty much) a former world champion. Then he beat a former undisputed world champion in another close fight.

Taylor is a much better boxer than Pavlik. He has better fundamentals, better footwork, ect. Pavlik is a powerful, swarming fighter...which the best weapon against a fighter like that is quite obviously a great jab....and who just HAAAAAPPENS to have a great Jab?

Jermaine Taylor

This fight has an easy night for Taylor written all over it. I have YET to hear an arguement for Pavlik other than he is gonna KO Jermaine...yet no explanation (rational one that is) on how he is going to get past his jab and movement to even do it.

Taylor by UD...and compukillers avatar will look something like this...

darthmage: i dont think he was gunshy, i think ouma knew he was going to go for the knockout as well as spinks and planned accordinlgy. Spinks we all know was going to do that anyways, thats just his style - run and hit as opposed to hit and run. Ouma on the other hand got extremly timid after the 'made in hell' fight. He got abosultely dominated that fight and ouma knew he was vulnurable after that. He seemed way too timid for me in the powell and rubio fight. His plan was pitty pat and to win on points for taylor. His shots seemed like they had no power. Ouma v Junta however, showed ouma landing harder more defenative shots. After the roman fight ouma never fought the same like he did against kofi juntah. Taylor is really fast at punching back once hes hit, to me that is the complete opposite of gunshy. He just needs an opponent to commit to a shot so they leave themselves open when taylor fires back. That is what pavlik will try to do and get mashed with a massive right counter. Miranda seemed to land that right on pavlik. Miranda just cant box or fight backwards which led him to lose (i am a huge miranda fan too btw, he will come back and destroy).

Definately right tho about the Sox and Yanks playing each other. If a Yankees fan or a Sox fan says bring on the other one....they are lying or speaking out of loyalty. But Arod is a beast....cant wait till he is playing third base for the Red Sox next season (Schilling, Clement, Lowell, Tavares...and probably Crisp all gone next season...saving 34 million, and we have rookies to step in for everyone but Lowell....:think ).

:thumbsup

nah, Boston cant afford that salary, he will be right back in NY next year again. He is in a bit of a slump right now, he is 2 for his last 24, not really feeling that, but hopefully he breaks out come playoff time, and its down to 1.5 games now sues. Another L in toronto 2nite, and we beat the orioles. WHats going on in B town. That division crown is in reach for us right now.:deal

Ahhh, but we most definately can afford it. This may be one of the few times in history I can remember the Sox ACTUALLY being able to win a bidding war with the Yanks.

Schilling - 11m - Will be replaced by Bucholz on a rookie contract (the rookie who pitched the nono this year).
Crisp - 3.5m - Will be replaced by Elsbury on a rookie contract (next years roy...mark my words...5 years, he is the best CF in baseball)
Tavares - 6m - Will be replaced by Lester, still on a rookie contract (the kid came back from being diagnosed with cancer last year and has looked good.....AND ISNT EVEN FULLY BACK YET!!!)
Clement - 7.5m - Will be replaced by......WHO CARES...he hasnt pitched for us in two years and has just been eating cap space!

Thats 27m off this years books for next year...minus the rookie contracts....we will say 25m.

NOW, ya cant forget the big one.

Lowell - 9m - Will be replaced by Arod.

So we could offer Arod 34m for next season and STILL have the same payroll we do this season.

And yes, I am getting a little worried about the division crown. But in the long run, we are still a virtual lock for the playoffs...and we won in 04 from the wild card....so we will see how it plays out.

O'boy.... I smell a division lead slipping away. It's the beginning of another 86 years. Did you think when you guys were sitting on a 14 1/2 game lead you would need to worry us breathing down your neck? Here we go... The Evil Empire Strikes Back!!

Replace Schilling? he is the best pitcher you got, well no he is the 2nd after Beckett. You dudes will not be gettin rid of him unless he retires. That kid that pitched the no hitter, had one good game and it was that one. DIdnt his next outting he got ruffed up?
34million for next season 4 A-Rod I dont even remember how much he is gettin paid a yr. But if he leaves the Yanks best believe you guys will e pickin up the rest of that contract, and he will probably ask for more just for comin to boston.

Schilling is getting on in years and wants a multi year deal (remember he said that if we didnt sign him in preseason, he was gone after the season). And dont forget he missed a HUGE chunk of this season due to nagging injuries and age (so to say). Bucholz was one of the top pitching prospects in the minors (he was ALSO the one who pitched a 1 hitter vs Roger during his time in the minors getting ready for the majors again...). He is 3-1 and his only bad showing so far was his last one (coming in in relief).

With DiceK getting another year under his belt, Schilling getting another under his (along with some more pounds  ...dont get me wrong, we ALL love Schill here, but everyone is expecting him to leave), I wouldnt expect Curt to be anywhere near the ace of the staff next season. His loss will be NEAR seamless, tho will probably hurt from a leadership standpoint....but what can ya do.

Now as far as the Arod thing. He has a clause in his contract that allows him to opt out at the end of the season....making him a unrestricted free agent. And lets be serious, there are maybe 4 teams who COULD realistically go for him...Yanks, Sox, Cubs and Angels (maaaybe the Dodgers, but I doubt it). And of those teams, with the free agents who are leaving, the Red Sox will EASILY have the most money to spend (as I outlined before).

And 86 more years.....coooooome on guys. We won the series from the WC in 04. PLUS, we still have the lead. Its baseball, ya never know whats gonna happen from day to day....I mean, I remember there was this team in the playoffs a few years back (forgot which one :think )...well, they were down 0-3 facing elimination, no team had EVER come back from 0-3....And LO AND BEHOLD, 4 games later, they had done the impossible. Damn I wish I remembered what teams were involved in that....

:huh

Point is, in baseball (more than ANY sport), ya just NEVER know.

Ha you think your funny lol. Ok we shall see. 1.5 games back now. Better start winning Sues or that division crwon will be ours.
A-Rod not goin anywhere he has the best chance to win right wher he is at. He would b foolish to become a red sox. He would never be able 2 play IN NY again. NY faithful would boooo him till they lost their vocies evrytime he comes here

Mariano will sign back I am almost certain of that, he is gettin 10millino this yr I think. Wasnt his contract 2 years 20million?
I kno he was gettin a ridiculous paycheck this yr.
But yeah Mariano will b back, after we win the world series. If he is smart he will stay right here, and play till he retires a yankee

He will...but again, that is less money they will have to offer Arod (or more money they will spend in the long run).

BTW, even if the Yankees go 7-3 to end the season, the Sox still gotta go under 500 for them to overtake them (9 games left for the good guys, ten for the yanks...). And yes, I DID just see that on ESPN.....day off, baby is sleeping...bored out of my mind....LOL!
