View Full Version : Embarrassing
That's what that TUF fight tonight was. Jesus, I've never seen two guys so winded in the second round that they back away, put their hands on their knees, and just stare at each other. And Rampage is the worst coach in the history of coaching. He couldn't pick a matchup to save his life, or a team for that matter. Instead of getting a vet like Roy Nelson, he picks these 6'10 goons with 0 skill and -5 cardio.
I'll be surprised if Nelson doesn't destroy Kimbo next week. Absolutely surprised.

It was horrific ill agree but ill cut them some slack because of the octagon jitters obviously its no UFC PPV main event but this fight will be seen by all of the MMA world and they get adrenaline dumps. Although ill say for sure that was the biggest dumps ive ever sit I mean you cant hold your hands or your hips or lean agianst the fence like Shivers did. You have to push through it id rather go all out and be KTFO then laying agianst the fence gassping for air or just gassping for air looking at my hurt opponet.

Whats up with everyone being an ex nfl player in that show? What happened with having an actual martial art background?

Any one give Kimbo a shot at Nelson ? Nelson has far more experience , but Kimbos power always makes him dangerous.
And whatever happened to Petruzelli , the kid that knocked Kimbo out ? I am suprised that he didnt try and capitalize on being the guy that knocked out Kimbo.

These guys are handpicked and goes through a tough interview process:
Heres a sample:
"We have a new show You want to fight?"
"Ummm, fight where?"
"Its going to be in a cage on TV"
"Sure"
"Whats your Martial art background or style"
"Im a big guy played football"
"We'll call you"

I don't. Nelson is much, much more well-rounded. Kimbo also hasn't shown in his fights to have that great of hands. James Thompson gets knocked out by just about everyone, but he ate a lot of Kimbo punches without going out.
If Rampage was a good coach (which he's not even close to being), he would have picked a limited striker for Kimbo to face. There are guys there that Kimbo would whoop (like his sucky teammate from tonight), but Rashad picked the toughest fight for him: a decent striker with tons of experience and a good ground game.

I'll give Kimbo about a 30% chance next week. Big Country will want to put him out, so look for a quick brawl.

Anyone think Dana will pay Nelson off to take the fall ? Dana can make more ppv buys with Kimbo on a card than with Nelson.

Big Country to put it on Kimbo next week!
Tonight's fight was horrible. I thought I was watching UFC 1 all over again.

Roy Nelson is a genuine fight with good grappling ability but Kimbo does have decent stand up. He is powerful but a little slow and musclebound.

Kimbo has no fucking power; he couldn't KO James Thompson.

Dana White should have stepped in behind the scenes on this one. If Kimbo loses this early ratings with plummet!

I got that feeling too. Or he'll get injured right before the fight and come back later.

kimbo must feel a lot of pressure to do well on tuf and win at least a couple of fights. he's probably pissed after last night b/c it would appear to a novice like me that kimbo would've been able to likely beat either one of those two as both looked horrible as far as pro mma fighters

I think they chose all the big guys because they are trying to increase UFC's appeal by using football players who are perceived as 'tough guys' here in america.
But seriously, they should be using high caliber athletes, it would make for more exciting fights

I can't criticize Shivers... it's obvious he's a neophyte with limited training.
But McSweeney deserves it... talking to Rashad about his training and no time off leaving him primed, and then he keeps baby stepping toward a man a few feet away who has his hand on his knees and is ripe for a head kick.

Go visit the boxing forum. Apprently every NFL/NBA star out there can become a HW champion.
So they say.

Yeah, I'm not sure what McSweeney was doing. He has big Wes teetering near the fence with his hands down, begging to get punched in the face. Apparently McSweeney didn't want to taste anymore of those slooooow straight punches with those long arms. He could have easily pressed the action and put that guy away. You're absolutely right. I'm not at all sure what was going on in that fight...but it sure wasn't pretty.

I heard Wes Sims knocked out Kimbo in his first fight. Considering their on the same team and all I knew that was false right away. UFC didn't seem too upset with the release of the spoilers either so they were probably false

That was one of a few that I heard of. The fact is if he wins or gets beat Kimbo is still going to be around or back later in the season.
Yeah it wasn't the best, I suppose. However I found it somewhat interesting being that the wo guys were so new to mma, that ir intrigued me. Shivers was a big dude, but new to mma. And I am not so sure about the other guy. To me it looked like he displayed some really good kickboxing, with his jumping kicks. For me it was interesting in that regard.

Nelson is the best HW on the show. Kimbo is going to get killed. I give him next to no chance of winning. I wouldnt even be surprised if Nelson outstrikes Kimbo. Kimbo is just not very good.
With that said, im quite confident he would have beaten 3 of the 4 fighters we've seen so far. That wrestler we saw in the 1st fight would give Kimbo legit problems even though its almost a given Kimbo would make him work for a takedown alot more than that other guy.

Yeah I agree with you on pretty much everything. Just might be bad if Nelson gets the big head and doesn't take things serious. Could end up bad for him
