In my opinion this fight would be very interesting and exciting for fight fans, both have good power and a strong chin. If Peter were to beat Maskaev for the title this is one of the matches I would love to see, it would clear up some of the questions people have about Peters ability to knockout a good oppenent. I like Peter as a fighter but I feel Chagaev's ability to fight at angles and Peters inability to move out of the way of punches would serve Chagaev well in this fight, I see Chagaev winning by UD but Peter will have his moments.

I can see Chageav winning picking his shots and boxing circles around him:bbb

I like Sam Peter, but I don't think he's that good of a BOXER yet. He's growing, but he's not there.

Chagaev by UD in an exciting fight

Chag would thoroughly embarrass Peter in a one sided affair.

I think Chagaev is probably the second best heavy in the world, right now.

Chagaev has shown much more than Peter has so far. I would take Chagaev by a wide UD.

I think Chagaev is probably the second best heavy in the world, right now. Yeah I agree I feel he would have a harder time against Chagaev than he would Wlad, Chageav has a style that would confuse and frustrate Peter throughout the fight.

I agree with the above statements, but what's the status with Chag's health?

I agree with the above statements, but what's the status with Chag's health? I believe Chagaev will be back in the ring in early 08, look for him too face the winner of Holyfield/Iggy match.

VERY exciting fight, I have a feeling this will happen. Doubt Chagaev would win by UD as many claim, Peter will beat him and probably by UD if not TKO.

IMO Sam's toughest fight.

But I think he pulls it out. Chagaev is too defensive to handle Sam's pressure all night long. But he'll ultimately do better than Waldo (who can only win by grabbing 96 times in 12 rounds).

Chag by easy decison.

Strong Chin, tremendous amatuer, and now pro experience, and southpaw stance really leave Peter with no chance.

Peter would beat Chagaev to a pulp. I cheered for Chagaev to beat Valuev so I wouldn't have watch that giant hairy bastard ever again. But he is a limited fighter. Box circles around Peter? :huh Peter would destroy this guy.

Chagaev a limited fighter? His skills are far far superior to that of Peter.
I think Chagaev will take this by about 7 rounds to 5 in an exciting fight.

Btw, I didn't realize Wlad was so close to ATG status. But since he is approaching Ali's clinch stats - you may be right !

Chagaev would take it. I think he'll box circles around Peter.

I'd pick Chagaev. To mobile.

Peter did look very interesting in the second Toney fight though. So i'm laying no money.

The amateur career has nothing to do whatsoever with how naturally talented a man is. Peter is stronger, has a great chin, has deceptively quick hands, and real KO power in either hand. I've seen Chaggy and while skilled, he doesn't have that kind of raw talent.

you are giving the limited Peter way too much credit. He has fast hands for the first 2 rounds then slows down a lot after that. Chagaev movement would give Peter huge problems. Plus, Peter has no plan B he can only slug.

You are mistaking athletic ability for talent.

i think this would be similar to peter-toney 1. chagaev is a counter-puncher and would pick his spots while Peter would probably be more active. I see chagaev landing the more clean and effecitve blows and Peter being the busier and more aggressive fighter. Close fight can go either way but its ending in a controversial decision. Chagaev has good technique but simply does not have the power to stop Peter while Peter has great power but lacks the technique to deliver it.

Chagaev's chin and Peter's rabbit punches are the X-factors :yep

Chagaev normally a counterpuncher but a more aggressive fighter, he only fought as a counterpuncher against Valuev.

I cant see him standing toe-to-toe w/peter. if he does, then he could get knocked out. that would be crazy. He's the superior boxer and should try to counter peter's wild haymakers.
