Hello All, I am latin fan of boxing, I enjoy discussing with you at this forum very much, but I dont understand the term "timing" the only thing I know about this is that timing beats speed but I really dont know what it is, so could anyone help me understanding this?
thanks

It means picking your punch. Basically figuring out your opponents rythym and getting your shots off at the best moment.

Timing is to adjust so that a punch is applied at the desired time

no need to get upset. Plus i don't think it matters where you live as long as you are not living near his house he will insult you to hell.
don't take it personally. Think of it as something that teaches you to control yourself and not pick fights with people over stupid crap.
Yea Timing is when you recognize how your opponent times his punches (will he take a step forward, cock his hand back, to the side, bring the other hand down, tuck his chin right before, etc.) and respond adequately with something that will allow you to score.
If 2 guys throw at the same time the faster one wins
BUT the faster fighters don't always win right?
Its because slower guys can figure out how to time just right that they have enough advantage in terms of time to be faster then their opponent.
I.e. tehy figure out they are .23 seconds slower, so they throw their punch a little earlier then usual. Or throw it as the other guy does his pre punch move i mentioned.
That means its teh job of the other guy to figure out how he is getting hit and realize its his job to read his opponent and try to regain the timing advantage.
The best fighters are very hard to read because their expression and movement doesn't change as they toss a punch.
PBF when he throws sometimes , he doesn't have any signs that would allow a guy to react quickly enough.
Same goes for a guy like Briggs in places.
Briggs is slow as shit and his handspeed is pretty good but what really makes SOME of his punches deadly is you don't expect to see them coming.
Its a whole art to it.
That's a whole lot of words for something that happens in a fraction of a second....
