There seems to be plenty of these kind of threads popping up. What is this with these idiotic threads? Do boxing fans who make these statements think that they are some kind of superstar boxers? When a boxer is making these kind of outragious statements, it is accepted way to hype up the fight. When it is done to on message boards it comes across as very stupid.

I think boxer A should stop taking easy defenses against guys like Boxer B and give Boxer C a shot, he's been ducking him long enough.

I think he's saying that posters are trying make difficult fights sound like formalities? Like 'Who should Kelly Pavlik fight after he beats Taylor', it makes the original oppostion sound easy to beat and upsets their fans.

Its a mild form of trolling....

I know I might sound stupid for asking this, but I still never got the term troll or trolling what does that mean exactly?

I know I might sound stupid for asking this, but I still never got the term troll or trolling what does that mean exactly?
"
Trolls can be existing members of a community that rarely post and often contribute no useful information to the thread, but instead make argumentative posts in an attempt to discredit another person, concentrating almost exclusively on facts irrelevant to the point of the conversation, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others. The key element under attack by a troll is known only to the troll.
A troll is a person who approaches a board with the specific intention of stirring things up, either as a goal in and of itself or as a means of attacking the board perhaps motivated by opposition to the ethos of the board. For example, a neo-Nazi approaching a Jewish forum with the intention of attacking the members, purely because the neo-Nazi knows the forum to contain Jewish members, will be considered a troll.

A troll's main goal is usually to arouse anger and frustration among the message board's other participants, and will write whatever it takes to achieve this end. One popular trolling strategy is the practice of Winning by Losing. While the victim is trying to put forward solid and convincing facts to prove his position, the troll's only goal is to infuriate its prey. The troll takes (what it knows to be) a badly flawed, wholly illogical argument, and then vigorously defends it while mocking and insulting its prey. The troll looks like a complete fool, but this is all part of the plan. The victim becomes noticeably angry by trying to repeatedly explain the flaws of the troll's argument. Provoking this anger was the troll's one and only goal from the very beginning."

It's not trolling of you're genuinely asking, as in your example. If it said as in, "What should Kelly Pavlik do after he knocks the head off of the overrated garbage fighter Jermain Taylor?" then it becomes trolling.

Otherwise it is speculation, which is what is done on forums.

No, the thread should read ""What should Kelly Pavlik do IF he knocks the head off of the overrated garbage fighter Jermain Taylor?"

The way you've worded it, the object is soley to get a reaction from Taylor fans...;)

Boxer C is overrated. He hasnt done a thing to earn a shot at boxer A. Maybe he should try and get a fight with Boxer B...who has earned his shot. But by then, ya never know, Boxer A might retire, he is getting up there ya know.

HOW IS THAT FOR SOME BULLSHITTIN!!!!

:rofl:rofl - good call, but Boxer B is obviously shot, and not worth a fight that would enable him with another fight with boxer A. Boxer B should be bypassed, and at least let Boxer C & D dish it out and the winner gets to boxer A.

Problem arises when Boxer A becomes boxer B.

Nope. I left it that way so you could actually make this objection. The way you worded it is how someone could word it to make it clear they were supporting one fighter, but it still doesn't disparage the other fighter in any way. If someone wanted to be particular they could cry about the wording you used, but really it just indicates bias of the person creating the thread, but not in a negative way, really.

None of these guys, Boxer A, B, or C hold a candle to Boxer TBA....never seen him lose, and he is always being avoided and replaced by another fighter.
