It's just a shame that I would be watching Pac-Cotto instead.
I'll just check the replays later the day.
Back to topic...
If Vera wins, especially in devastating fashion, did he stake a claim for a shot at Machida? Or he still needs to beat either Rashad/Thiago Silva before getting serious consideration.

At the state Randy is in, I am not interested in watching him fight. I'm tired of seeing fighters who were once great/good continue fighting only to become gatekeepers and good wins other guys resumes

Couture is still a top fighter, but the one type of fighter he should avoid are young strikers. Everytime he gets hit now hes on queer street or just ktfo. Having said that I think Vera is somewhat overrated as a striker and Randy should be able to get in range and maul him.

Yah, Couture gets hurt now when a brisk breeze blows through the room. I wish he'd just hang em up.

This is a good style matchup for Couture IMO. About 75 percent of Vera's offense is his kicks and that plays into Couture's hands.

I think the Gonzaga head kick he ate and the massive knee and elbow he ate from Lesnar where more then a brisk breeze.

This bout doesnt interest me. Seems quite pointless. If Vera wins big deal. It wont really propel him to stardom although he's in the queue for a title shot at 205. Does he deserve one of the back of Couture? Nah. What does Couture gain? Absolutely nothing.

Vera is gonna win by Knockout....I will also be watching Pac/Cotto

My thoughts: Vera kicks, Couture clinches, Couture throws Brandon, Couture ground and pounds Vera for the rest of the round. Repeat through round 3. Couture via TKO or UD.

Sounds reasonable it still a good fight though.

If Vera can use his footwork to stay away from Couture - then he might be able to lure Randy into something or outpoint him - but if he makes the mistake of clinching with him - he will lose badly. Vera is a Greco Roman wrestler as well - so he might think he has a chance in the clinch with Randy which would be his mistake.

I think it could go either way. I'm going to this one, looking forward to it. Then I will be going to watch Pac vs Cotto hours later seeing as there on at totally different times. Remember 105's in the UK.

I think the Gonzaga head kick he ate and the massive knee and elbow he ate from Lesnar where more then a brisk breeze.
Which is why I said that he "now" seems to get hurt easier.
In his last fight, almost anything that landed seemed to wobble him. I'm not sure how different he is physically since the Gonzaga and Lesnar fights, but he looked down right awful against Nog. And that stemmed primarily from his total inability to absorb any kind of punishment.
Hey, if he proves me wrong against Vera I'll take it back.

They aren't competing with boxing again. This is stupid. Challenging another p4p number 1. This will simply hurt both sports.
Couture v Vera is a real good fight.

Bouinko is right. Couture does not have anymore the punch resistance he had vs Gonzaga or Lesnar.
Nog never had power, and was wobbling him nearly punch landed.
Vera will TKO him

Im off the Vera bandwagon. Never seen a guy waste such good standup game.

Vera is fast, and it's hard for me to see the old man avoiding being struck here. If Couture can get the clinch, the fight may be his.
I'm betting on speed for this match. Vera by ko.
My thoughts are that Im not too interested in the fight, the fights outcome has little significance.

I'm a bit worried as a Couture fan; Vera has good wrestling, or at least good takedown defense. Randy's chin is looking cracked.
What's promising is that Vera can be clinched and pushed up against the cage, which is Randys second favorite thing to do against strikers after taking them down. I think he can still grind out a win this way, but there's a risk for a KO.

Not taking anything away from Couture. Nog looked shot and then he didn't v Couture BUT Couture's punch resistance looks dead. Couture doesn't have a granite chin but he has good chin. He looked rocked every time Nog hit him.

Vera has the stand up skills to win. But Randy will overwhelm him and grind him down into a bloody pulp.

He should also avoid great grapplers and wrestlers as well ie. Nog and Lesnar.
Bottom line is, Couture shouldnt be fighting at his age if hes just going to be a gatekeeper.
He should, SHOULD beat Vera, Vera is not that good of a fighter. Only bad part about this is that Couture is likely going to get a title shot from this win which would be another gift for Couture by the UFC.

Yeah, so long as Vera continues to forget he has heavy thai training, and continues to not use the plum and knees to Randy's jaw. Damn I hope Randy doesn't get Rich Franklin'd by Vera. I really hope he wins, but still hope he hangs them up asap.

It's not a matter of forgetting to, it's a matter of one guy being better at something than the other.
Randy is better at controlling the clinch than Vera is, so Randy should be able to stop Vera's offense from there.
At this age though, who knows.

If Vera tries to work the thai clinch with Couture - he will get thrown for his efforts. Vera's best chance is to keep Couture out in kickboxing range.

True but can Vera beat Randy by just using his hands which hes never really used in the UFC ? If he throws kicks IMO Randy takes it down in a hurry.

Yea no doubt i'll be watching pac-cotto on nov 14 but i would like to see the replay of this fight. I think vera should win this fight. He needs to keep this fight on his feet cuz he can outstrike couture for sure. I think he would win this fight.
Anyways should he beat couture i won't put him up there for a title shot right away. I think he needs to beat another top LHW before he gets a title shot. I would like to see him fight either thiago silva or rashad-rampage winner. If he can beat one of those guys then he should get a title shot.

We are assuming here that Vera shows up in top dog status - which has not been the usual case when he steps up in competition.
