The comparisons between Hatton/PBF and Gatti/PBF

Will people who constantly say "This will be like Gatti/Mayweather was" please shut the fuck up?

1. Hatton right now is better than Gatti ever was.
2. Hatton is without doubt 10x better than Gatti was when he fought Mayweather. Wars with Robinson, De La Hoya, Ward and many more. Not only did PBF not beat a great fighter, he beat a "good" fighter who was shot!

Comparing Hatton, the undefeated, lineal 140lbs champion, to a guy who was never that good and effectively finished by the time he fought Mayweather is just ridiculous.

It should be a bannable offence. If ESB bans racists, as they're ignorant, there is nothing more ignorant in boxing, than a comparison Hatton to Gatti :good :D

If you took anything from the Collazo fight is that as good as Hatton is - he had a lot of problems dealing with Collazo's speed. Well - Mayweather is way faster and more skilled than Collazo.

However - I do agree with the Thread Statement. Stop comparing Hatton to Gatti. If the fight turns out to be similar or worst - that's when you talk your shit.

I think that fight will be a better comparison. Collazo made Hatton look pretty bad in there, and Mayweather has even better skillz, ring generalship and speed that Collazo. I see Mayweather winning somehting like 8-4, or 9-3, maybe even stopping HAtton late on cuts. It will not be Gatti-Mayweather though, Hatton is much better than that.

Hatton had trouble handling Colazzo speed. Floyd is way faster than Colazzo and more skilled. Hatton got hit a lot by a slower colazzo, and many people thought that Hatton lost the fight. SO what do you think will happen when he gets in there at a weight he struggled fighting at for one, 2 Floyd is faster than Colazzo, 3 he is a smarter fighter, 4 way better defensively. Hatton really has no advantage in this fight IMO. He will have to just work his ass off in the ring and try 2 make it look close, but thats easier said than done.
THat is the reason why people compare the fight, and quite frankly I dont blame them, b/c I myself think that Floyd is gon woop Hatton ass somethin serious

An orthodox boxer facing a southpaw is the hardest matchup for a guy who fights off the chest (smothers). You cannot fully smother the southpaw left because your shoulder is grinding into his, so he always has room. Watch the Magee fight, same deal.

The Hatton comparisons are way off.

I guess since Hatton and Gatti are both tough white guys who bleed quite a bit there's a tendency to compare the two.

Stylistically, among PBF's previous opponents, Hatton is more like a Jesus Chavez or Jose Luis Castillo.

Hatton gets in your face and applies pressure.

Gatti liked to trade and exchange but liked to have more room. He didn't swarm and apply pressure like Hatton.

Lazcano is much more suited to Hatton than Collazo is because of his style and stance. Then you have all the legal problems Hatton had before this fight.

Who said his face was going to get hit anyway? Mayweather's always soaked body shots but he's not come up against anyone like Ricky who can really give to the body hard.

But he was already training. Collazo didnt even know he was fighting. They had the same amount of time to prepare for one another, but Ricky had a head start.

He had seven weeks to carry on cutting down on his usual fat, which is never an issue, but he had no time to put 7lbs of muscle on. Without steroids most people would struggle to put a lb of solid muscle on in a week. Hatton had to do that whilst cutting a load of weight.

At least Collazo was fighting at his natural weight. Hatton wasn't. If both men were fighitng at 147lbs, then yes, Hatton would have an advantage but he was used to fighting at 140lbs and didn't have enough time to add muscle.

Hatton was noticably less ripped than he was at 140lbs and had a lot of stamina issues, despite throwing less punches. Had he had time to gain that 7lbs properly, neither would have been an issue.
