So far I have seen the following 'excuses' as to why Hatton won fights
1) Overmatched opponents
2) Old opponents
3) Corrupt judges
4) Opponent was past his best
5) Poor refereeing
6) Home crowd/advantage
7) Too much holding
8) Opponents softened up in previous fights
9) Opponent took a dive
10)Hatton is on HBO, therefore isn't allowed to lose
11) Opponent isn't a natural Light Welter
12) Low blows
Oh look!! That's one for each round of a championship fight!!

I dont understand how such a humble guy instills so much hate in people its fucknig crazy

The plight of the English boxer.
You beat a young champion who fights like a lion (Collazo) and you're said to be bullying unproven guys and that you probably should've lost anyway
You dominate an old champion like Tsyzu or Castillo, you beat them past their prime
You beat up a proven contender like Maussa or Urango in a sloppy fight and you're useless and will get your ass kicked.
Get used to it, Americans are fucking retarded.

In the case of KT, I wouldn't say that he was past his prime when he fought Hatton, but I do think the liberal dose of rabbit punches had something to do with the stoppage.

his haters can't stand that he keeps winning. He thrashes Tszyu and doesn't get credit for it, he KO's Maussa and Maussa is labeled as a "one hit wonder". He moves up to 147 pounds and in his FIRST and only fight there he fights a live dog, young, world titlist, talented, slick southpaw and wins..people say he should've lost!
He moves down to 140 again, re-wins his title over a young, strong, inexperienced fighter and people say "he can't take body punches well, blah blah fucking blah. Castillo will killl him"
he destroys Castillo in FOUR FUCKING rounds and people say "Castillo was shot anyway" ..it's endless excuses.
43-0 with 31 KO's, three time jr.welterweight world champion and former WBA welterweight world titlist.
for fuck sakes, he must be doing something right. :patsch

I'm an american who is pissed off by the fucking pathetic excuses for boxing fans who look for any reason to rob Hatton of the credit he is due. These same morons make Cotto's win against Judah is "fight of the year" when Judah hasn't had a victory in 2 years and was beaten by Baldomir.
anyways, fuck them

I never wanted to see Castillo fight Hatton, Castillo to me never had a chance with Hatton, it would be better if Hatton fought some elites at his weight, like PBF, Cotto etc. I'd even be happy if he fought Witter, even though he'd murder the guy..

I'm American and I'm sick of the pathetic racist, and nationalistic excuses when Hatton wins. You Brits deserve congratultions for your man's victory, and before anyone belittles it, ESPN Friday Night Fights and most of the other self-anointed "experts" of course had Castillo winning.

A newbie aka low man on totem pole, aka whipping boy, aka recipient of enumerable STFU's. A newbie can be easily identified by his join date. He usually does not have enough posts to be a full participant on a forum and is almost always under the false impression that members on the board (outside of other noobs) hold any regard for his opinion. He can best serve himself by just shutting the fuck up (as is often suggested) and watching how things go down instead of trying to dive directly into the mix. For instance, in this particular thread the noob list would read as follows:

Hmm.. interesting. Unfortunately for yourself, you leave yourself open to complete ridicule for this. I would personally choose to be a so-called "noob" than an ignorant tosser.
Oh, and by the way, the image was funny but it looks a bit retarded when there are 8 words on the poster, then you add a further one.

Oh, my friend, unfortunately for you you have no choice but to be a newb as you hail from Newbridge, South Wales. So claiming that you'd rather be one is not really saying anything at all. This is exactly the problem with newbs. You're too dense to even understand the poster. Lord help these newbs as they've become more and more clueless as the days pass on. Here's to the newbs. :finger

you know Hatton is doing something right when you get all these old women complaining about everything he does.....its almost as if they are so brainwashed by boxing media over there that when an outsider beats an established American or an American based name they just can't understand it

hatton is a piece of shit fighter, holding ad hiting he should go to the ufc. and the refs not stopping that crap shows how corrupt JBO is. hatton is going to get sacrficied if he ever steps in the ring with an elite fighter.

The truth is Hattons two best wins are over Kostya and Castillo both men had a shit load of mileage on them, their bodys were pretty much done by the time Ricky got to them, look this is the truth of it, Hattons management has done a good job of picking the right fights at the right time, why do you think they turned down Floyd? he wasnt in a wheel chair yet thats why.
Hatton is garbage and if he moves up to welter again I beleive he should honor a rematch with the man who beat him there first Collazo, that should be the only fight he takes before any bigger payday fights.

This ain't just English fighters, the same thing can be said about most up and comers...
those excuses fit so many guys it's not funny.. you know why, because a lot them are true for most up-and-comers.

As far as Hatton clinching a lot: if I recall, the first guy to beat the untouchable Willie Pep was Sammy "The Clutch" Angott.

Although there are plenty of reasons to criticize Hatton's performances, in his defense, all Ricky can do is beat the guy they put him in with.

Wasn't that what the Castillo fight was supposed to be? Oh, I forgot, the rats left Castillo's sinking ship the moment Hatton SANK a bodyshot into it.

maybe people would like him more if he stops being such a fucking huggy bear. Seriously, he has to clinch every 2 punches! Imagine if yesterday's fight lasted as long as the Collazo fight, it would've been some boring ass shit.
People hate mayweathe cause he keeps running around during fights, but that excessive clinching of hatton ain't pretty either.
I see mayweather criticized a lot for his tactics, but what about hatton? At least mayeweather doesn't have a blind mob of cheerleaders who would back him up even when he's sucking ass, mayweather gets no love.

Hatton has an ugly style, lots of clinching, mauling, etc. <--fact
Castillo was a fighter on the downturn, if not completely shot <---fact

Want to add that I think Ricky beats everyone in his weight class.
The only guys I see giving him any trouble are Holt, Torres, and maybe maybe Lamont Peterson if he turns it up a notch.
I still think he beats those guys, and can easily beat Witter, Harris, Malinaggi, and Hopkins.

Man you Americans crack me up
How is JLC on the downturn when..
A: His last loss was in that barn burner Diego Corrales fight
B: His last loss before that was against Floyd Mayweather
C: If you go back just a few matches before his loss against Corrales he had beaten Casamayor, Diaz, Juan Lazcano
D: He came back and impressively KO'ed Corrales after the fight
So a man who hadn't lost since the Corrales fight, had beaten Corrales since and had also beaten Herman Ngoudjo in the lead in to the fight - suddenly got old, shot and tired overnight?
Give it the fuck up - no wonder boxing is boring to you fucking idiots - you disregard ANY performance that doesn't fit with what you want.
good post!
Remember not all Americans are so stupid as the morons you find on ESB arguing that Mayweather could beat god.

Man you Americans crack me up
Yes he did beat castillo, but he looked like shit doing it. If that thing lasted 4 more round or the entire 12, we would've had a congressional hearing about it a week later for boring the crap out of honest, hardworking americans.
samita
06-24-2007, 09:03 PM
so he didn't clinch more than he threw punches? did you count how many times he clinched first round alone? you like clinching?
Arthur
06-24-2007, 09:04 PM
He looked like shit landing several good body punches to Castillo, breaking him down and landing a near perfect liver punch?
If that looks like shit, then hell - I wouldn't mind being that shit as a professional boxer myself.
exactly.
if that makes Hatton look like shit than what does gayweather look like seeing that he was lucky to get a decision against castillo.
samita
06-24-2007, 09:15 PM
mayweather gets booed for his running, hatton gets nothing but love. I just never knew people love clinching so much, I'm sorry.
