You pretty much spent the last 30 seconds of the first round hitting him with your left hand, with him helpless underneath you; it was a little reminiscent of the James Thompson fight. How surprised were you that the fight wasn't stopped in the first round before the bell?
Roy Nelson: I was surprised. You could even see me yelling at Herb Dean, "Come on, ref."
But the thing is, there's a lot of people; there's a lot of money. Kimbo's the only one that I know that had an entourage there; he actually had his family there, his management, while the rest of us kind of had to suffer. The UFC made, we'll say, different concessions for Kimbo. I think he had a media room.
Kimbo's definitely, I guess we'll say, special. I don't see the specialness fighting-wise, but more for TV-wise. He puts butts in the seats.
So I think it was more that Herb Dean was afraid to lose his job, because there's a lot of people with a lot of money that can have a lot of influence with his career.

Dana oh so badly wants to milk the man he called a circus act.

Like i said WWE. Dana has no credibility whatsoever. He danced all over EliteXC's grave and never had a good word to say about Shaw or Kimbo. Now he's carried on from where he's left off and it looks like Kimbo will be in the UFC.

What did Dana say to you after the fight?
Roy Nelson: I think he wasn't happy with that fight. I mean, everybody was really mad. Kimbo's whole entourage was there, which was kind of funny since we are all supposed to be isolated, but Kimbo actually had his whole fan base, the whole 305 over there. There's definitely some favoritism already built up there. Whatever. But they simply said to me that I have a better skill set than Kimbo, which I don't know if it's true. I'm just a fat guy. I'm going to go with one of my favorite sponsors, TapouT, [and say] I'm just bad for the sport.
Did you get the impression that the people working on the show were upset that Kimbo lost?
Roy Nelson: I'll tell you the executive producer of The Ultimate Fighter was very upset. He doesn't know fighting, he was just like, 'Oh, there goes my cash cow.'
Back to Kimbo's entourage, how many people were actually there because I didn't notice any extra people around?
Roy Nelson: Actually, if you go back and actually look at the clips, they are actually behind where Dana, Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta are. There's his entourage screaming 305. I mean, I didn't really get to see it because I was concentrating on the fight, but everybody kind of told me about it, and I was like, 'What?' I think he really did have a media room in the house because there was one door in our bedroom where it was locked all the time.
Really?
Roy Nelson: I don't know if he had an iPhone, but he definitely wasn't on the same contract as everybody else.
Was there any resentment in the house because of this?
Roy Nelson: No, we just had a list in the house, and we made sure we ordered food on his list because we knew Kimbo would get it.
Did his entourage come to the house?
Roy Nelson: Not actually at the house, but the fact that they could even show up was pretty, I guess, ballsy, I would say. It's kind of insulting.
So it bugged you?
Roy Nelson: Just that from what you're told and then what you see is totally different, yeah. It's very insulting when you think you have to put your life on hold for six weeks, and it's not really that.

Roy IS bad for the sport. If a fucker like that was a UFC HW champ, it would be a fucking joke. People are laughing at WWE Lesnar, what would happen if world's first pregnant man was the champ?
Also, those punches, my 6y.o. cousin will take that shit and would sit there all day. Nelson isn't going any where in this sport, sorry buddy, if you even get out of TUF I'll be surprised.

Why does anyone give a shit about gossip like this? Who the fuck cares? I watch MMA for the fights, and I love how the UFC gives the fans what they want. I can't understand how some of you bitter people just sit around all day bitching and complaining about how certain fighters are payed, or some random Dana White remark, ect.... For fuck's sake you guys are starting to act like chicks.

Hes fat, but hes a good fighter. Top 15-20 HW in MMA with a very solid skillset in grappling. Hes faced top MMA'ers in grappling comps such as Mir and Monson and beat them both.
Lesnar's baby hammerfists on Couture were no more powerful than that of Nelsons against Kimbo.
Nelson has already gone places in the sport. Hes fought some very good HW's and been robbed of a few decisions.

And I dont see how anybody is upset at Roy. I highly doubt he would lie about something like this and if this is legit this just knocks Dana down another peg.
I mean did you guys honestly think Kimbo would show up here for FREE? Dana is not stupid, he may not have alot of integrity, and he certainly may not care about the legitimacy of the sport but the UFC is making money and this is the reason why.

:patsch Right. The guy is simple. Even before the fight he was talking about how you can "count out" the punches to the ref no matter how weak they are and he's forced to stop the fight. Those punches were weak and he was trying to prove a point. Lesnar was trying to kill a person. Big difference there buddy.
You argue for the sake of arguing.
I'll tell you what though, he is the talent I'd like to see more of in TUF. You're right, he has gone places and even fought in UFC already.

Give me a break. Lesnars GnP on Couture looked like a big kid on prozac. It looked like he was throwing a temper tantrum. It was embarassing.
This is not an argument. Its just a fact. You made fun of Nelson but the guy is actually a proven fighter, the only one on the show and he beat Kimbo fair and square and the stoppage was absolutely legit.

This fight would have gone down totally differently if it were a main even of a PPV than if it were the first of four fights in the tournament. Nelson was thinking more about winning in a dominating and humiliating (rather than devastating) fashion and to White's ire (and Nelson's benefit) without getting hurt. I certainly wish he'd have been more emphatic, but for christasake does anyone honestly think that it's because he COULDN'T have been more emphatic? I'm sure that drives White and Spike nuts, but it's 100% true.

Also, who gives a fuck what the guy looks like? If you care so much that everything looks nice and comicbooky then gay ass pro wrestling is for you. The fact that Nelson is 100% skill and 0% style is fucking great, and if he beats everyone in the UFC then he deserves it just as much as anyone else. The disgrace would be if he was as effective as anyone (winning is the whole point of SPORTS you know, as opposed to "sports entertainment") and wasn't allowed the same chance as everyone else because he didn't look like the he-man dolls that fans who never grew up still want to play with.

Made fun? No, I think he's a great fighter who's never going to be on top. I think he is perfect for TUF and I think it would be great to have more fighters like him on TUF.
Stoppage was legit by rules. But if you got someone pinned down and their safety is not in question they shouldn't stop it. Coutures fight was let go for a while, Lesnar is twice the size of Nelson(if he was 10%bf he'd be a middleweight), and Couture was actually dazed and confused after that Lesnar tantrum. Believe me, I hate Lesnar at least as much as the next guy but if I was to survive either one of those situations I would stay in Kimbo's position for 2-3 minutes without exagerating. In Lesnar's situation not so much.
P.S. If Kimbo was any good on the ground he could've escaped easily as well.

Roy is just being set up as "the bad guy" and Kimbo "the good guy"
Probably because Roy and Dana don't get along, probably because Roy is a "confident" guy who isn't particularly casual fan friendly.
Outside of milking him for Money, the point with Kimbo is basically to use him to show how much better MMA fighters are than street fighters.
He will get fights that he will get embarrassed in until people finally lose interest.
Works two fold. Dana is guilty of the same things he was talking all the shit about, about using the toughest guy at the barbeque as a draw.. What happened though, Kimbo ended up having more class than Dana.
Kimbo, may have gotten nothing to show up to Tugh, but you bet he got paid for the commercials, all the talk about his fight with farmer john, or whatever beign the biggest fight in tuf history..
At the same time, if it really was as bad as people say, wouldn't Kimbo have won? I mean, wouldn't the fight have been fixed?

Exactly what fucking planet do you live on? The last few elbows were not that damaging, but for about 10 seconds it was some of the most damaging GnP in the sport; not to mention he was dropped with a enormous right hand before it. Couture couldn't even stand up on his own properly for several minutes. He was hurt and hurt very seriously.

I agree with you, I just saw the fight and Kimbo was tooling him striking..for a so called former IFL champ. He had a hard time taking kimbo to the ground initially and couldnt do shit til Kimbo gassed. He has a big mouth as well. He's a fuckin BUM!!...The man had nothing in there..ZERO. For TUF to advertise him as the best HW they have, this show's a disgrace.

Owned standing? It was one punch man.
He said his plan was to get the crucifix and finish with punches.
Maybe that's just after the fact, but if you listen to some of the stuff he says before the fight, and the way he constantly is looking for the crucifix when he could have possibly done something else, it makes sense.
He went in, took a low risk strategy, and won in the easiest way possible. It was grappling 101.
If you have a guy in a crucifix and he isn't going to get up, there is no reason to not just get the finish with a TKO; especially if he really did "call his shot" so to speak.

Herb Dean's own words (courtesy mmaweekly.com)
MMAWeekly: Firstly, Roy claimed that you didn't stop the fight in the first round because of Kimbo's status on the show. How do you respond to that?
Dean: Well, it's not that complicated. I'm there to protect the fighter's safety. Kimbo got up after that round pretty quick and spry, right? If I stop a fight it's because I believe a fighter's not fighting back, because he can't. And there's reasons why a fighter can't fight back. One is a positional reason like Roy had on Kimbo. It was positional. Could (Kimbo) handle blows and continue to fight? He did. He made it to the end of the (first) round and continued to fight. If the blows were any less, I would have actually stood them up. The blows were strong enough to warrant being on the ground, but they weren't strong enough for me to stop the fight.
...
MMAWeekly: So you felt the blows that Kimbo was taking in the second round were, whereas the ones in the first round weren't?
Dean: Well, I believe that the blows were solid blows. In the first round, they were solid blows, just like in the second round, but in the second round, it was the beginning of the round that he was down there. I can't allow him - he was not going to improve his position, he was not going to solve it - I couldn't allow him five minutes of that in the second round. Could I allow him to take it for 30 seconds in the first? Sure.

the kimbo hype got belly-fucked to death:lol:
it was sweet to see, the agony in dana´s eyes as his cash cow lost. With all the trash, he previously talked about kimbo, oh the sweet irony.
then you got a fat white dude, showing off infront of dana and kimbo´s crew:yep He even predicted the outcome:deal
afterwards he just pisses in dana´s face with this interview. How anyone can complain is beyond me.

He spends 100% of his training time on what he needs to win and 0% on doing stupid shit so people will like the way he looks. If he can beat top pros (and he DID beat Monson and was all over Arlovski before he got stood up and had a close as hell fight with Rothwell) while having a gut then good for him.
Also, you're appraisal that you know how to armlock Kimbo Slice better than a gappler as accomplished as Roy Nelson and that two landed punches constitute "getting owned" shows that you're awfully bothered by Nelson for some reason. You're not usually this retarded.
