Wheres Masakev? 17? Wtf.... Hes WBC champ..... He deserves top 5 at least.

And what is that weak chinned guy doing at 20?

Unless I missed something, Oleg Maskaev is the WBC Heavyweight Champion.

What has Sultan Ibragimov done to be above Ruslan Chagaev? What has Samuel Peter done to be above Ruslan Chagaev and already be considered the WBC Champion?

Audley at 20? In that case, Dominick Guinn should be 19th.

If it’s good enough for BoxRec to rank Sprott the 17th best heavyweight in the world then it’s good enough for Audley.

Let's not go on BoxRec rankings to justify ranking Audley in the top 20. BoxRec has some of the most questionable rankings around - and they are computerized rankings at that.

This thread is a prime example of why we need official rankings at ESB, as voted on by those with knowledge and without (too much) bias.

Audley at 20? In that case, Dominick Guinn should be 19th.Ibragimov decisions Chagaev IMO.

Peter is ranked #2 by Ring magazine.

Audley is ranked higher than Guinn by BoxRec.

Using your logic Puritty should be ranked the number 1 heavyweight in the world.

In all seriousness, I don't believe that Guinn should be 19th or than Puritty should be above Wlad, but Audley Harrison shouldn't be in the top 20.

Hey everyone im new to the forum so be kind and let me know what you think of my top 20

1-Wladimir Klitchko
2-Samuel Peter
3-Oleg Maskaev
4-Ruslan Chagaev
5-Sultan Ibragimov
6-Nicolai Valuev
7-Sergei Lyakhovich
8-Hasim Rahman
9-Chris Byrd
10- Tony Thompson
11-Calvin Brock
12-John Ruiz(disheartning but fair i think)
13-Eddie Chambers
14-Lamon Brewster
15-Matt Skelton
16-Alexander Dimitrenko
17-Oliver Mccall
18-Davaryll Williamson
19-Vladimir Virchis
20-Chris Arreola

On another note I like Tua but i don't believe he belongs in the top 20 on paper yet but i believe with a couple more fights and little more training and confidence to dust off the ring rust, i think he would wipe the floor with at least half the guys on this list and i would bet money he would beat Samuel Peter tomorrow.

McCall, why? He may have the greatest chin of all-time, but he’s been beaten twice by Juan Carlos Gomez. Hes a hard worker and deserves a shot at the WBC like he was promised, I dont understand why guys like Golota get all the opertunitys a shot at the title and blows it everytime in some way. I do think Audley has talent but his chin is very pathetic, you at least got to say that.

NOLO, that's a pretty fair list. Anybody can disagree with a few ranks here and there. Rahman is too high.

SHW, your list is good too. But relax on AH - he's not #20 right now. He'll be within range if he beats Sprott.

Gomez was also promised a shot at the WBC title; he’s more deserving than McCall. Gomez seems to have drug problems, plus he doesnt have the name Mccall has. There fighting again I believe so that will determine who gets a shot and who doesnt.

To all you bitches that think my list is shit, what exactly is shit about it?

These are the reasons:

The Inclusion of Audley Harrison: We can argue all day about my opinion that Harrison is a top 20 heavyweight… so let’s just agree to disagree.

Alexander Povetkin in the Top 10: Why is this so hard to accept? Chris Byrd is a Ring Top 10 heavyweight, no?

The Exclusion of Oleg Maskaev in the Top 5: Since making my list I’ve changed my mind about Maskaev/Peter… I now think Maskaev will beat Peter, so I admit the exclusion of Maskaev in the top 5 was wrong.

Sultan over Chagaev: I just think Sultan would have beaten Chagaev before Chagaev’s phantom illness, both of them competed @ heavyweight in the mighty 2000 Sydney Olympics; Chagaev got eliminated in the second round while Sultan took the silver only to be beaten by the undefeated Cuban heavyweight prospect Solis on points.

So apart from these 4 things, my list is undeniably immaculate.

Here’s the new list with the Maskaev update.

Champion: Vacant

1. Wladimir Klitschko ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) IBF
2. Sultan Ibragimov ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) WBO
3. Ruslan Chagaev ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) WBA

17. Lamon Brewster ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

How the hell is this official? "Official" is what Lampley is setting up.

It's not a horrible list, IMO, but it could be better. Maskaev and Lyakhovich are too low; Tua's WAY too high (how the heck is he even top 20?), and Ibragamov, Skelton, Sprott and Harrison are all too high, possibly Byrd as well. To be honest, I'm not at all impressed with any of the British HWs, all beating on each other and usually losing whenever they step up their level of comp. Williamson, McCall, Arreola, Dimitrenko, Briggs and Platov all have decent arguments for being on the back end over some of those guys.

I guess there is no reason to agree with you on that even if this is disagree agreement.
You are simply wrong and sooner or later you MUST realize this.
Auldrey is out of top 30, period.

Alexander Povetkin in the Top 10: Why is this so hard to accept? Chris Byrd is a Ring Top 10 heavyweight, no?

He did not beat anyone top 10 contender yet and he have 13 fights so far?
So #10 is the best he can get right now.
If he bat Byrd and Brock then he may be top 4-5 for sure, until that no way.

The Exclusion of Oleg Maskaev in the Top 5: Since making my list I’ve changed my mind about Maskaev/Peter… I now think Maskaev will beat Peter, so I admit the exclusion of Maskaev in the top 5 was wrong.

There is no prove of who is better Maskaev/Peter untill they fight.
So you cannot rate them for somethings which never happened yet.
Is your list a prediction for 2008 or the current status?

So now you have dropped Peter to #5 so you suddenly consider he have no chance at all to beat any one of current champions?

I'd rank:

1-Wlad
Chagaev
Maskaev
Ibragimov
Valuev
Peter
Vitali
Thompson
Virchis
10-Dimitrenko
Brewster
Liakhovich
Rahman
Byrd
Brock
Povetkin
Tua
Gomes
Ruiz
20-Chambers
Mccalll
Toney
Briggs
Platov
Sosnowski
Skelton
Mesi
Williamson - tos
Krasniqui
30-Moorer
Mccline
Sanil Sam
Bidenko
Arreola
Mollo
Oquendo
K. Johnson
Golota
Mcbride
40-Vidoz
Audley

That is how I see Harrison in the picture today, and I'd say he is in a tie with Akinwande, Danny, Sprott, Bergeron, Kirk Johnson, and some others.
