Two brilliant fights on the horizon.

Which challenger has the better chance of taking the title:

VITOR BELFORT (against Anderson Silva)

or MAURICIO RUA (against Lyoto Machida)?

Please explain your choice :good

Very hard choice. Good question. It all depends which Rua and which Belford shows up. So when a question stands who has a better chance of showing up as the good version of themselves, I think Belford has a better shot. He needs to realize he has nothing to lose in the fight vs A.Silva, his problem is mental, while Shogun will just gas out withing 2 rounds(so he'll really need to take Machida out early, who will just jog around like a bitch) and no one can help him except steroids. I'm going to say Belford on this one.

I would say Vitor would have a better chance of winning. I just don't see Rua taking Machida out early nor have the gas to outpoint him.

Where as Vitor always has a chance with his speed and power to run through anybody, not that I see it happening.

Vitor does and I fully expect Vitor to win.

Those are big words Jimmie.

Why do you think that? How do you see it happening?

Belfort has a better chance. Maybe 10% if hes in top form.

Machida wont even get hit so Shoguns got his night cut out.

Lol, Evans was able to land a couple of shot on Machida. But Rua who is 10 times more talented on his feet than Evans, won't be able to land ONE shot?
Right.

That's not the question. The question is can he take him out before gassing out. Machida will literally run around in circles like Bisping did against Henderson and Shogun will eventually get tired and Machida can simple finish him off.

Yes Evans landed 1 and a half punch. The flush shot was when Machida was making him eat a combo and Evans was wailing, Evans got fast hands. The other was just a graze same scenario when Machida was landing a couple of shots.

Like I said Evans got fast hands and he can always tell his grand kids years from now "You know I think I landed two shots at Machida, thats how good your Grandaddy was"

I would say belfort cuz machida's defense is just too good.He is so hard to hit unlike silva. Silva can be taken down and i like belfort's speed. I think he should be able to catch silva and who knows might hurt him.

I say Shogun just because he has so many more ways to win; all Vitor has is a punch. Shogun has the ability to finish in the clinch, with subs, with GnP, or just with striking; none are all that likely against Machida, but Ill take a lot of ways with little chance over one way with just as little chance.

We haven't seen Machida off his back, and Shogun manages to get guys with good takedown defense down sometimes; it's just one question that Silva has answered clearly that Machida has not.

Ok, Rashad landed two shots. Just to show how objective I am.

I keep having these visions of Anderson Silva laying out cold in the middle of the octagon since this fight was announced so just call it a gut feeling or something.

More or less exactly what Beebs said. Shogun has more ways to finish a fight with Machida, while Belfort only really has a punch. Regardless I expect both Machida and Silva to win fairly convincingly.

i dont think belfort could beat silva,
silva is to quick and his headmovement is brilliant.
vitor could win with his one punch KO power, but at this point in time i dont see silva losing his title or losing period.
so i pick rua to have a better chance cause silva is not going to lose anytime soon.
