Yeah, he's fucked legacy wise if dominated. It is really up in the air even if he gets beat, freakishly. Finally, if he wins its absolutley rock solid, and another big win could put him over the top.

If Joe dominates Kessler, hes finally deserving of the p4p list:lol:

He would still be a top 10 super middleweight all time, but it would not be good for his legacy.

Calzaghe legacy will be shit even if he dominates Kessler.
Right after Kessler loses he become another overrated B-level fighter,
no better than Beyer or Lacy.
From the long standing point of view Joe need beat Jones/Hopkins/Woods.
After 20 years nobody will remember who Lacy or Kessler was.

What do you mean with the :-( 's?
If Calzaghe is dominated by Kessler, he will still be remembered as a top 10 super middleweight all time because of his unbeaten streak, his unification of the WBO and IBF titles, and the number of title defenses. However, he would be remembered by most as the guy with all the title defenses who was badly beaten by the best fighter he faced.
If he wins, he has a case to be the greatest at 168 - when looking at resumes, not head to head ability.
Just my 2 cents

What brooklyn said really. JC still remained unbeaten throughout most of his career and more importantly - showed great skills in the process.. By skill and talent he will be remembered.
If this happens, its up to Kessler to secure JCs legacy even more.

If Kessler beats Joe at 35 in a close fight, it won't hurt Calzaghe's legacy that much, depending on how he lost and what Kessler goes on to achieve. Strangely, a win for an over the hill Calzaghe against a prime Kessler maybe hurts Calzaghe's legacy more as Kessler is open to being called another bum... a good B level boxer. I don't think Kessler is a B level boxer but you can see where I'm coming from. If the 35 year old Joe beats Mikkel clearly, Joe's resume will still lack a "proven champion" - a man who beat the man, if you will.
If Kessler dominates Calzaghe, I will be more surprised than seeing Kenya enter a last minute team into the world series and winning every game.

Well, he beat "The middleweight version of Prime Tyson", so he has had a career defining fight in the bag.
If he loses he can probably put it down to shotness, and so he cannot truly lose.

True.. The worst will be to lose to Kess and Kess ends up with a barely above average career

Calzaghe is nowhere near shot, that's apparant.

We'll see. I'm just fed up of all the predictions, rubbishing of each others records and national taunting. I just want to be happy that this huge fight is happening in my country, I'll be there and want to watch two very good undefeated boxers putting everything on the line.

I agree, and have a great time.
All i'm saying is, let's get this straight now - Calzaghe is not a shot fighter. He might get old overnight, but even so.

The only way he will lose is if he gets old overnight.
However, if he is not apparantley old overnight and still fresh in the fight and Kessler still dominates him.
Then Kessler's legacy already jumps to a good position.

Fortunately, there is no chance for him to lose.

Calzaghe won't lose this fight by being shot.
If Kessler wins, he deserves full credit for beating a Calzaghe that is still at the very least, 90% of his very best.
I'll be the first to congratulate Kessler if he can do this - but the sad fact remains, he can't - no fucking way, no fucking how.
Your not using good boxing logic.
Boxing just does not work like that.

He would be seen in the same light as Prince Naseem Hamed, perhaps even less-so (which is saying something, considering Barrera atm is a lot greater than Kessler).

I'm talking when he beat Hamed... CLEARLY the more accomplished fighter than Kessler... And I hated Prince, but he had a ton of natural skill. So yeah

Well, Joe C doesn't really have much of a legacy aside from being a ANOTHER long reigning SprMW champ like Ottke. If he loses, he may be seen as just "another good European fighter"...

The fact that you compare him to Ottke shows the absurdity that we have to live with.

If Joe wins, and not a hometown decision but a clearcut victory, he is truly the greatest ever at 168 as far as accomplishments and legacy.
But if he loses, his legacy will be tarnished, but not as much if it were a close decision loss. If he gets KOed, however, the questions will spray through the air like wildfire.

Ottke faced lesser competition than Joe, also had some very dubious decisions in his career.
Ottke and Joe have nothing in common except being long time title holders at 168.
:huh
Their resume's are very much alike, including many of the same boxers. DIFFERENCE: Ottke got to them first, Calzaghe did it better... Which is better?
Calzaghe has Lacy and Eubank more than Ottke.

The fact that you kiss up to CHJ shows you're a nuthugger. Natch...
Anyway, my comparison with Ottke isn't about talent or whether you thought he won or lost certain fights. It's the fact that if Joe loses badley, he may be written off prety much how Ottke is today. More of an after thought.

Doesn't happen often - but I agree with you Lance
If Joe loses this fight, he loses a lot of credibility and authority as a 168 lber to non fans. It may not be fair if it happens, Joe is better than to be thought of as an Ottke.

You don't do hostility as well as me, sorry.. you're just a padawan.
That's because I wasn't being hostile. I was being facetious. And your 'hoslitliy' is more akin to a spoiled brat who cusses too much. But that's besides the point.:smoke
