Carl Froch insists he will make sure Andre Dirrell is "rendered unconscious" when they clash in Nottingham on October 17.
Froch will defend his WBC super-middleweight title against the unbeaten former amateur star in the opening bout of the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament.
And although the Nottingham fighter, who is also unbeaten as a pro, knows it sounds brutal he is determined to score a big knockout victory to claim a bonus point in the round-robin competition.
"He (Dirrell) is a young Olympic bronze medallist, unbeaten in 18 fights," Froch said.
"He's coming over to challenge me for my WBC world title. He thinks he's going to win, he's confident - he means business.
"It's my job to make sure he is rendered unconscious, which sounds brutal, but that is what I am going to be doing to him the night of the fight.
"I'm going to be hitting him with some heavy arsenal and let him realise that he is out of his depth."
Strong
Froch is due to fight WBA champion Mikkel Kessler in the next round of fights - and the 32-year-old knows it would make a massive statement if he was to follow Joe Calzaghe in beating the Dane.
"Mikkel Kessler is a good fighter and undefeated other than the Calzaghe loss," Froch said.
"He has won over 40 fights and he has won in style - he is a strong, dominant super-middleweight and he means business. To fight him - well, I would be a very proud man to beat him. It would be magnificent.
"Joe Calzaghe beat him on points over 12 rounds and if I can do a better job than that it will go a long way to showing where I am.
"But I think people already know. I beat (Jean) Pascal (to win the WBC title) and he has since gone on to win the world title at light-heavyweight so people know he can fight."

Personally I don't think Froch should hold back on what he has to say, if he wants to say it he should just spit it out.

He is going to look such a twat if he gets pummelled.

It's not bravado though is it, it is how Froch fights. He punches with authority, and he fully believes that when these guys step in and feel his power, they realise what they are facing.
I've always backed Froch's talk simply because I think he genuinely means what he says

I honestly dont see Froch winning this one though i hope im wrong.Saw Direll as an amateur at the 2004 Olympics where he beat the Cuban before losing a close decision to big punching Golovkin[no 1 in the world] in the semis in a war.Hes been equally impressive as a pro showing great speed with the ability to knuckle down and duke it out in the trenches if need be.He also has respectable power to boot.Froch is gonna have to tighten up his defence to stand a chance here.

Okay, in which of these Dirrell fights was he 'in the trenches'? Hanshaw gave him a go but his best achievement was losing to Jones.
Oganov was poor, real poor, and Dirrell unloaded on him about fifty times in the first rounds, and got tired (still won all the rounds) When Dirrell stopped Oganov it was a poor stoppage, Oganov's knees buckled but Dirrell couldn't floor him or stop him convincingly.
Even though it was a convincing beatdown, it was still Oganov. Who is Oganov? Numbers aside, a nobody who lost to Zuniga, middle of the road if there has ever been one (lost to pavlik in a spirited battle, destroyed by Bute)
I'd have more respect for Dirrell if he'd beaten an iron chinned and dirty guy like Bika down the stretch. But he pulls back with his chin in the air and that's not a good idea aginst Froch.
Personally, I don't think Dirrell can keep his lateral movement AND punch output up throughout the fight, I think he will tire and that Frochy will take him out. That's based on what I've seen of Dirrell, metalMan has obviously seen something else.

Dirrell is very much an unknown quantity isn't he
For that reason you have to favour Froch
It's not just the inexperience in the ring, it's dealing with the occasion too

I would love Froch to be humiliated in this one.
From what I've seen of Dirrell he's a good boxer and could outbox Froch I'm sure but he's never been in the kind of fight that Froch will give him. Should be a good one this.

Froch will spark him like that 7-3 journeyman Rocha did, only he wont get up this time. I'll be amazed if this doesnt end Froch KO.

Yeah I REALLY think Froch wins this, I've only watched bits and pieces of Dirrell but he just doesn;t impress me. Don't get the fuss.
But the Yanks really think Dirrell will do it
I think Froch is very under rated across the pond at the moment, he'll emerge from this tournament with his rep enhanced I'm sure
I put his shit start against Taylor down to a bit of nerves in his big fight debut in the states, he'll be better prepared to deal with that now

I think they're quite big on him. The Canadians are, during the commentary for Pascal vs Diaconu (spelling?) they said 'Pascal has only lost once and it took a Helluva fighter to beat him' or something along those lines and I think the Yanks like his propensity for getting in exciting fights.
Also; had NOT seen that clip. Dirrell makes little mistakes, even against Oganov, pulling away in a straight line with his chin up in the air, admiring his own work. Frochy does at times as well but he's got the proven chin and hits harder, the ball is in his court.

This is at least two steps up in class for Dirrel, he has been nowhere near anyone as dangerous as Froch

What's this got to do with Calzaghe? :patsch
I don't like him I've not liked the guy since around the time he fought Brian Magee. I admire him for his courage and he's good entertainment in a way but that's it. He's got a big mouth and I can't wait for someone to shut it for him.
