"De La Hoya told us there is a big possibility that the Hatton vs Marquez fight will happen. We would love to go to England and fight Ricky. Juan liked the idea and those are our plans. I think Hatton is a great fighter who will present a whole different style to Juan and Marquez will have to use all his experience and ring savvy to beat Hatton. I think Ricky still has a lot left and I hope the fight get made because is a good challenge and is a good fight for Juan financially also."

- Nacho Beristain

Thoughts, anaylsis, predictions?

Makes sense for JMM from a money point of view, I was hoping Hatton would go for Bradley (actually I was hoping he'd retire).

Why Bradley over Marquez?

I hope its at Light Welter and not at Welter again, although seeing Hatton these days doesn't raise my expectations.

Of course it would be at light welter. Marquez's most comfortable weight is lightweight right now.

Styles. I think a loss to JMM wouldn't tell you that Hatton is finished, it could be attributed to styles. If Hatton can't beat Bradley then its pretty clear cut that he doesn't have it any more, if he does beat him then he's clearly still got a lot left.

maybe they'll go for catchweights at 142 just to be fashionable?

What if Bradley is just better than him? Is that an all too remote possibility? :p

I'd like to see Bradley get his shot at the big time, I think he's earnt it, but this fight makes more sense for Hatton. Marquez is still a big name in boxing and the defeat to Mayweather has done minimal harm to his reputation.

Prime Hatton beats the best version of Bradley that I've seen so far so its very good measuring stick as to how much Hatton has left. Do disagree?:p;)

Yeah, I understand that it'll probably suit both Hatton and JMM to fight each other.

Marquez by mid-late stoppage. Hatton just doesn't look particularly well these days and I think a comeback would be futile, unfortunately.

Its hard to tell what Hatton has left. The Pac fight was too short to tell us much and the Paulie fight was a good style match up for Hatton.

That the best part of a year with no decent 'form'.

I'll go with the general rule that pressure fighters go rapidly downhill in their late 20s.

If Hatton was to win this, am I right in saying it would be bigger that the Kostya Tszyu win?

depends if he won legitimately or not, because he sure as hell didn't against Tyszu.
Hatton is clearly a bigger guy that JMM, but I still pick the elite level Mexican to clean Wicky's clock.

Marquez deserves to makie so big money. Big money fight for he and Hatton. Hatton does not really need the money now though.

Would honestly rather see Marquez fight Katsidis or Valero. Resume wise he has little to gain from Hatton and the other two are more stylistically appealing fights, Katsidis is always entertaining and Valero is an unknown quantity. Personally I think Marquez stops both but he deserves an easier nights work IMO

Hmmm... Id rather Hatton packed it in personally.

But this does sound like a reasonable matchup, on paper. Hatton should have a size advantage to compensate for the fact he is way past his best.

The best fight out there for Hatton I think in terms of kudos, money and winnability.

Marquez by round 1 KO with a feather duster.

Should be entertaining.

Hatton way past his best? based on what?
I coulda sworn a lot of journos and huggers alike were saying he looked better than ever against Paulie...which was what...well under a year ago, and was gonna be too big and strong for Pac.

Not shot.....more like exposed repeatedly as his level of comp. went up. Give it a rest with this 'Hatton's shot' excuse.

hatton gets knocked out in this fight, bad style for him against one of the best counter punchers in the sport

As a JMM fan, I agree. This fight does absolutely nothing for JMM's legacy, IMO, and isn't the best next step for either fighter. That said, if the fight does get made over here then I think I'll have to dip into my savings. No chance in hell I'd miss this if it took place over here.

Bettys found pretty much the only pressure fighter in the history of boxing who is as good at 30 as he was at 26.

Should Hatton come back he needs to get Kerry Kayes back on board as his conditioner... was just looking at the Pacquiao and the Mayweather weigh in pictures and Hatton looks like a different guy completely. Granted Pacquiao's power has moved up with the weight classes but Rickys punch resistance surely hasnt diminished to virtually nothing
