Me too, if he's good, and has decent punch resistance, I could see Dana being very interested.
I certainly wouldn't like a right hook from him.

He has no legitimate fighting background. 'Big' is not a very effective style. He's going nowhere, though I'm sure there are a few promoters who would like to exploit his fame in a sideshow type way.

That's all speculation though. He does have a martial arts background I believe.
He might be great, he might be shit.
Time will tell.

Not really speculation. He has done some hobby type karate. He is not a fighter.

Everyone's got to start somewhere, he may just have alot of natural ability. He may just be a big juiced up toimato can.

Doesn't matter. Name someone who started fighting in their 30's with no fighting background and was a success.

big is a very effectiive fighting style, ask brock lesner. raw physical strength trumps submissions and grappling, not punching though.

I thought he used to box?Pudsz is alledgedly a black belt in some discipline and had an amateur career. I dont know wether any of that is verifiable. Either way its insignificant. The chap he's fighting is a boxer who also has no MMA background. So its a rather auspcious debut. Pudsz though for a strongman is an EXCEPTIONAL athlete. In the history of strongman competition theres never been anyone with the rare blend of athleticism and strength that he possess. How he can apply that in a MMA bout remains to be seen.

he has some background in boxing and karate so he should at least start with a good stand up. he has incredible strength which with grappling skills could be great.
BUT he is way too big. he needs to lose a good 30-40 pounds me thinks.

Well he's not going to lose any weight any time soon, so you guys can throw that possibility right out the window. Regardless of what he goes on to accomplish, I fear for what he'll do to this guy he's about to fight.

If he didn't lose any bulk at all, and actually turned out to be good, Pudz vs Lesnar would sell some major tickets.
Who'd have thunk it possible say, 5 years ago.

I do too. I'm going out on a limb, and going to say Pudz is going to shock the world! There's simply no way...NO WAY he loses to anybody easily.
If you guys ever watched him in WSM the only thing that trumps this man's size, power, and athleticm...Would be his AGGRESSION, and his EGO! The man isn't shamed of being a damn monster, and likes to point it out to people. He doesn't like to ever accept defeat at WSM so you could imagine accepting defeat at fighting.
A man that's new to MMA, and has everything to lose, and doesn't seem to have much to gain. God knows he makes me more $ through WSM sponsors, or commercials than this fight. As to why he's doing it...I'm not quite sure unless he just wants to hurt somebody.
With that much bulk, there's no way his cardio holds up past a couple minutes. He will probably overwhelm some soft competition in the beginning, but I don't think Pudz can hang with the big boys.

I see what you are saying, but to be in the WSM contest you actually need to have exceptional cardio (srs), events like the farmers walk where cardio is very important, and as far as WSM competitors go, mariusz is exceptionally athletic with great cardio.

Yeah, but farmer's walk is maybe a minute long, and it's more anaerobic than aerobic. His muscles will consume way too much oxygen in the ring or cage. It's a different kind of endurance needed.

no fucking shit, but your post implied that the only reason lesnar does well in MMA is because of his raw physical strength, which no doubt has a lot do with his success, but you completely ignore his wrestling credentials.

Yes i know he has some MA experience and was an amatuer boxer. If they can teach him some grappling watch out. Its like a much stronger brock lessnar with lesser grappling skills. Dont be surprised if you see a lessnar pudzian superfight in a few years....imagine the hype for that. finally someone that brock cant just overpower

I don't want him to go under 300lbs, that means his strength will go down and won't be back to get his title back next year in WSM.
and the guy is a fucking beast, if you think Mariusz is going into this half-assed and not hell bent on winning, you don't know the Pudzian!

The only time you'd see him drop pounds is if he becomes good enough for the UFC etc I'd imagine. He certainly won't be cutting any weight anytime soon.
As unlikely as it is, I just want him to stay the same size, and be brilliant

The guy is so strong you can't rate him like other fighters. I think Pudzianowski could probably submit fighters with a triangle or neck crank in his opponents guard.
But then again, there is no way Pudzianowski is completely natural, and and maybe he hit fitness will be weak.

interesting news....this from wiki( if you can trust that)
Apart from WSM, Pudzianowski is also known for practicing martial arts (he is a fourth kyu green belt in Kyokushin kaikan). Moreover he trained in the art of boxing for seven years before he started to compete in strongman competitions.[citation needed]
As of 5th August 2009, According to several internet sources, Mariusz is poised to sign with a Polish Mixed Martial Arts promotion known as KSW. It is unknown if this is for promotional reasons or if he intends to fight.
