View Full Version : Why are people making a big deal about the height difference (floyd vs Hatton)

All of a sudden people act like a guys height makes him the "bigger" man. I guess paul williams and Tommy hearns are both bigger than Mike Tyson.

Diego Corrales is the same size as Jeff Lacy.

What I find amusing about this whole thing is that hatton himself said that when he stood next to floyd he saw that Floyd is too small to offer him any physical challenges. a couple of years back when Floyd was fighting at 140 people said that Hatton would be able to use his size to bully floyd. Now just because Floyd didn't get spanked at 147 and above the way Hatton did people say he is a bigger guy.

I'd be curious to see the tale of the tape when they measure these 2. I bet Hatton's legs, arms (width), and shoulers are all bigger. I doubt floyd will beat him in anything except height and reach.

Things im thinking of when i think of this fight:

1.Rickys aggressivness and how will it work out ?
2.Will Ricky be suprised by Floyds punching power ?
3.Will Ricky get dirty to slow down Floyds running ?
4.Will Floyd stand with Ricky ?

I think this is an intriguing matchup for reasons that are obvious ...We have 2 different styles with 2 undefeated fighters and it could be a great fight , but i think that will ll come down to Floyd and if he is willing to mix it up( with Ricky he might be more inclined to because he knew Oscar was the bigger puncher, with Ricky he might think he is)

I have no problem with the rest of your post . . . so I'm quoting only this.

I doubt floyd will beat him in anything except height and reach.

Reach coupled with the hand speed is a big factor. Height? Nah. :-(
. . . and you're missing PBF's biggest advantage . . . footwork buddy . . . footwork. :yep

Footwork and timing....and DEFENSE..DEFENSE being the key. I know Floyd can avoid Hattons shots naturally like it aint shit..but what will hatton do if he is on the end of a jab and a right hand follows up..and once floyd gets going...its just like punches just land more frequently ..

If Hatton thinks Floyd won't be physically strong, he's in for a terrible surprise.

Height is always a problem for shorter fighters.
