Why that Thomas ? Why not a prime Pinklon?

i would go with thomas but i think it is close ,

thomas had a pretty good jab and would be sticking it in arreola's face ,thomas would have to take some shots from arreola along the way .but would take a decision in at times messy dull fight

Why that Thomas ? Why not a prime Pinklon?

Why anything ?

Why Pinklon Thomas at all ? Why not a prime Hubert Hilton ?

Why not Hector Mercedes versus Tunney Hunsaker ?

Why not Gene Tunney's "Man versus Gorilla" ?

Whatever you want, go ahead. :good

LOL, now thats really a match up I didnt think anyone would ever disscus here. A heavyweight champion, one of the best boxers of the 80's, with one of the best jabs out there at the time - and pretty much of all time - among other things (lateral movement, chin), who's only been put on his ass by Mike Tyson versus a fat, unskilled, C-level club fighter? :huhAnd people are actually asking ˙˙Why not prime Thomas?˙˙ :rofl Even though Thomas was pretty much done in 1987 (thanks to Tyson) he was still above the fat mexican on all levels.

Thomas by TKO inside 9 rounds. :deal

And to pleasure the man who mentioned prime Thomas, prime Thomas TKO inside 6 :deal

I think Thomas would win in about 8 rounds. He was getting a bit sluggish by '87 and his right hand was weakened so it might be a bit plodding and methodical, and he'd get caught with a haymaker right or two in the first round or two, but he'd just pound that jab in Arreola's face and bust him up and force him out of the fight. Arreola's lack of conditioning and lack of skill would set him up for a slow steady beating.

I'd take Thomas in a heartbeat. By that I don't mean Arreola doesn't stand a chance, but the smart money is on Thomas. Good jab, good chin, good determination. I think he can take it and sail it home on a somehwat thin UD.

Pink wins.
Great jab, even at that stage of his career, and a rock-solid beard. Stamina may be an issue for him though, but if Arreola plods after him like he did Vitali, Thomas's jab will win the day...Thomas by easy decision.

Not an easy fight IMO. Thoms has more about him BUT he was often lacklustre at this stage in his career and like most 80s HWs could simply be out-hustled by a determined opponent. I definitely don't see how Thomas of 87 stops Arreola before Klitschko did.

Thomas should win but he'd been out-worked and decisioned by the strong and determined but technically limited Berbick.

Frankly, I think Pinklon Thomas was closer to his prime circa 1984 than he was in '87. By this point, the heroine needle ha really taken its toll.

By 87 Thomas was already past his best but was still had some good skills left id say the 87 version probably loses to Arreola by decision getting outworked by chris in the later rounds. THe 84 or 85 version beats chris convincingly 117-111 pinklon was underrated and I think hed beat wlad but not Vitali.

Is Pinklon loaded on smack? If so, Arreola.

I still pick Arreola, anyways.

Thomas was washed up against Tyson but I think he put up credible effort. Arreola is just awful.

Pinklon could have just one arm while loaded on smack, dope, coce, anything and he'd still UD that fat mexican bum. :yep
