I think it is a success and move English fighters should go for it before moving to British level.

The Welsh & Scottish belts need to be branded at the same level as the English belt which is a step up for Area Level

I like fighters going for the English belt. Hopefully the belt gets another push with the prospects and good journeymen going for the belt. We have had some good fighters hold the belt recently and some nice little scraps.

I would put it above the IBO belt on Sky tv.

Yeh the English Title is a decent step for prospects.

Especially for the lesser known prospects who do not get the boxing headlines. I would be chuffed to see Groves go for the belt. I think it would fit in with his progression.

It's grown on me a bit, having been a big critic previously.

If my memory serves me correctly the English title precedes the British version by a considerable period of time.

There does need to be a reduction in the number of titles however.

If it carries on the way it is going, a pair of four round scratchers will be fighting for some meaningless strap......

British
English/Irish etc etc
Area

That's it.

No bullshit masters titles.... interalphabetty's are bad enough :nut

Can you expand on this point?

The English title has only been around for about 5 years or so. I recall Matt Skelton v Michael Holden was for the inaugrial heavy weight title

Do you mean the belt was around previously and was reinstated recently?

Agreed, but I think they should do something about area titles - there are to many vacant belts and therefore should merge some areas

Central & Northern Area should be the northern area
South & Western should also merge

In pugilistic terms the english title has been around for several hundred years (1719), and the first champion was James Figg

Area titles aren't really in vogue at the minute - don't see that changing any time soon either.

Young prospects seldom fight each other, and area-level fighters are generally fed to up and comers on the verge of British titles.

Don't tell Jeff that he is looking at the central area title.
