Abraham v Taylor and Froch v Dirrell and whatever fights from the undercards they can squeeze in. AA v JT is live from 10pm.

The build-up week will see Froch's last two fights being shown plus Showtime's version of 24/7

even people on here don't know about this channel, how the heck do they expect casuals to plug in? no way this is will succeed, what a shame its gone from a tourney with so much potential to crab the attention, bring some shine and new fans to the sport to being irrelevent and marginalised to the general public.

So you have to have a sky satellite?

I'm on Virgin and have Sky Sports, but I'll need the satellite for the extra channel - right?

'CLUBBER' LANG
10-11-2009, 05:07 PM
So with this additional registration fee of £2.50, the total cost will be a minimum of £15.45 (which is even more than SKY charge for PPVs (£14.63 for Valuev v Haye). These add-on costs that are prevalent in today's world are a bit of a con, and in this case they don't even need to post tickets like with sports and music events. I think Primetime think that us boxing starved fans will pay anything to get our fix!

It's because it was a new concept for your average football fan, whereas us hardcore boxing fans are well acquainted with such platforms.

As for those of you complaining about the price; what a bunch of tight bastards! Yes I wish it was on terrestial or Sky Sports but this is the reality we have and, as far as I'm concerned, the price is worth the two main fights live alone.

There wont be any UFC on this channel. ESPN have the UK rights to UFC PPV's which they show on there subscription based channel. Primetime may decide to show other MMA organisations PPV’s like strikeforce but this will be a flop. The only MMA organisation people care about is the UFC. Nobody will pay for a PPV of another MMA organisation.
If primetime showed some Japanese MMA then they could get some money from me.

It's not a matter of not having the structure in place its a more of being able to make this a success.

Even the biggest fights are not just sold on name value. Names alone dont sell PPV's. It takes good hype shows, marketing, advertising and more. How can I have not seen one advert yet. The fight should of been advertised during Friday Fight Night on Sky Sports. It should be advertised during WWE Programming and UFC coverage on ESPN.

I paid by credit card and checked to see what was due to come out; it was the correct amount. As long as you pay by credit card, if they were to take more (unlikely), you could claim it back anyway.

There is no customer support service.

The guy who posts here for Primetime, nice guy called David, told me they were looking to set one up. Hopefully that happens 'cos a few people have had sign up issues, including myself.

I've paid for the stream but didn't receive a confirmation email.

I don't know what the deal is yet, but the primetime fella who was posting here replied to my email saying he was going to look into my problem.

If it's any comfort, certain things on the site are being updated and improved so it looks like they're sorting stuff out. I assume they only got the rights or whatever to this fight sorted out fairly recently and it's been a huge rush job to get the site and sky channel up and running. Things will probably be in a better state for future fights, I'd guess.

I'm trying to find out if not getting a confimartion email means there's a problem with my registration, although they did take the money out my account.

Provided your sky box is connected to your phone line you should be fine.
When you order a PPV through sky the encrypted channel (in this case Primetime) is unlocked via the phone line by sky. So if it aint connected to a phone line - it wont work.

I tried to order online. Filled in the form, all fields. Submitted and arrived at some sort of 404 error.
Strangely, there was no payment method field on the form, yet when I first looked at it yesterday I'm sure there was. :huh

She did'nt seem to have a clue. Hope to fuck they get this right on saturday. Will be gutted if I miss this because of a broadcasting fuck up.

OK, this time I filled out the online form and paid by direct debit and it said that it had gone through. So hopefully all will be good. I dont know how to check or not but I just hope.
Got my Sky switched on, and plugged into phone so I cant do anything more. Will probably start panicking Saturday though.
I've had Sky Box Office fuck me up before, after ordering by phone, and my phone line doesn't always allow me to order things for unknown reason.
The technology is actually quite shoddy considering we're in 2009 now.

I have ordered box office events previously and recorded them with sky+ and watched it the next day fine, however with this being a new channel it may not work the same?? Maybe primetime could confirm?

From what i've read the broadcast starts at 20:00 and the Internet feed goes live at 18:00.

Provided your sky box is connected to your phone line you should be fine.
When you order a PPV through sky the encrypted channel (in this case Primetime) is unlocked via the phone line by sky. So if it aint connected to a phone line - it wont work.

My phone line isn't connected, yet I could get setanta....

Man, i've got a BT line so if thats how they send the signal im gutted! Mite phone sky and get them to confirm what i need to do! Also seemed strange that could pay by DD, surely they wont take that till after the fight so there gona let people have the fight before they pay, not sure about that one!?

This all seems to dodgy to me. I have a phone line but dont keep my Sky plugged in permanantly as I have one socket (so a filter goes in with just 2 inputs for the phone and my router). But technically I can plug it in to get the authentication to allow me to watch - how the crap does this work then??

Booked mine online last night but no confirmation e-mail through or anything so fingers crossed come 9.30pm it works without any trouble on the Sky box

Admittedly, I'm not really a fan of Froch and the price is a big steep considering the Nottingham undercard is piss poor, but I'm looking forward to this one ...In particular, the Abraham-Taylor fight and the return of Buncey to our screens!

The beers are in the fridge, roll on half nine!
