would floyd mayweather sell out a uk arena on his name alone?

if it was marketed correctly and it was against a good quality opponent how many tickets would floyd sell?

im not sure i think true boxing fans, and there are a lot here in the uk would jump at the chance to see floyd live. i would say yes if done properly

i doubt it very much.if you are talking something like M.E.N size wise i'd say no chance.

I think if you look at the chances of Mayweather selling out a US arena with his own name when the country has a population of 300 million and reduce that figure down to take into consideration the UK's population of 60 million, then the chances would be very low.

He'd draw a good gate, but he's just not very well known here.
Not that many boxers are, to the general public, and even fewer non-UK fighters.

I reckon he'd get about 3000-4000 fans to buy a ticket.

I doubt it. Most of my mates dont know any boxers other than Ali, Tyson, Lewis and Hatton.
If the Hatton v Mayweather was here though I think it could sell out Wembley only because of Hatton though.

I reckon that's about right. All the hardcore boxing fans would want to go, but very few casual fans/followers of one particular fighter, who make up the lions share of any crowd.

Is this some kind of joke? I doubt he'd sell 500 tickets.

Ron Lewis in The Times said Mayweather-De La Hoya had viewing figures of less than 10,000 on Sky Sports (pointing how more fans went to Las Vegas to watch Hatton than who watched Mayweather-De La Hoya on TV)

Only a handful of his fights have been on British (subscription) TV, and in the early hours of the morning at that

those figures are shocking i had no idea

I bet he could do 5,000 fighting in London. But he's not going to do Hatton/Calzaghe type of numbers or anything like. Those boys do tens of thousands.

i think he would sell well, british fight fans that pay at the gate are enthusiastic, a chance to see a talent like Mayweather would go down well, You'd be surprised , remember how Johnny Tapia was embraced a few years back, If fighters like Foreman against a no name sold out the docklands a few years ago, in a fight with say a Witter they would sell perhaps the Hallam arena out close to Witter territory.. , v Hatton it would sella lot in a manchester stadium, look at how Tyson sold out ... Mayweather is more recognised than you'd think, remember Vegas is not a town that has a great boxing following, The fans come into vegas...

I think not. Mayweather is admired as a boxer but he is neither liked or hated enough to put bums on seats.
