After the emphatic McIntyre win, I remember Brook saying he made 147 so comfortably that he thought he could make 140 as well. I've never heard this mentioned since by Brook or anyone associated with him, but I think that it would have been a good move and would still be a good move now. As one of the UK's hottest prospects, Kell Brook couldn't ask for a division more competitive on the world stage than 147- the established names seem like untouchables, and the belt holders, gatekeepers and up-and-comers of the division are still huge tests for someone progressing on from the domestic and European scene.
If Brook gets past Jennings, does anyone else think that Brook might find it immensely difficult to establish himslef on the world scene at 147? Has Kell Brook appeared at just the wrong time?

Well i still think he's a bit off that level. He's only been beating average domestic fighters imo. He's done this in such a emphatic way that we all sat up and thought this guys class but his next fight is going to tell us a lot about him. Divisions can be stacked for two-three years and within space of 6 months the division can go from a shark infested water to a rather average division.
Look at the lightweight division about a year or so back now it's looking a bit weaker so really Kell's got time on his side imo he some way off a world title but in a year things could turn nicely into his favor.
Even at Euro level its going to be hard to break into the running for a title.
Aydin - A tough Turk with a good chin and a good punch to go with it.
Bonsu a tough belgium who was dropped 3 or 4 times by Aydin but was still in the fight some how. Remembering this fight from a piss poor stream everytime Bonsu was dropped he was coming back throwing more and more cracking shots.
Petrucci - Not seen anything from this guy but from what i have read he is a neat boxer and his right hand is supposedly coming on well.
I would be surprised if Brook can get the European title at welter, but trying to make the light welter limit and draining himself and mixing it with a fighter like Urango wouldn't be advised. I think he has came at the worst time possible good luck to him anyway.

I completely agree. Who knows what will happen but, as it currently stands, I can't see him doing anything past European level at 147 and, as you rightly say, that's a big task in itself.

Lets see him get past Jennings first. If Michael was not overly damaged by the Cotto defeat then he is fully capable of outboxing Brook.

He's gotta get past Jennings first - IF and its a very big if he does beat Jennings and does continue to improve I think he'll do well at Euro level (Aydin doesn't impress me tbh, he blows hot and cold - saying that I haven't seen too much of him) but they'd have to take their time with him at world level, he's still only young and like has been mentioned the landscape of that weight will have chnaged by the time he's peaked.

Who at 147 should Kell Brook fear?
Mosley only wants the huge fights and will be very old by the time Brook steps up to elite level.
Pac will only fight at the weight for huge huge huge huge money.
Mayweather will do the same as Pac.
Cotto is a danger but who knows what he has left at the top level.
The rest are probably only as good as any other of the divisions top 10.
If Brook is good enough then he should stay at 147 and try winning a belt there.

He's a long way off that level. If, when he's ready for a title he could always beat up on an old Mexican and step to a less competitive champion at a different weight then proclaim himself a genuine world champ just cos he spars with Pacquiao...
Hang on... think I've gone off on a tangent.

he should fight all the domestic welterwights first like o'donnell and haughian first before moving onto world level

He actually sparred Bonsu interestingly. If he beats Jennings then Watson and O'Donnell are necessary, should then target the winner of hatton/N'dou before making the leap up to an Aydin-level competitor. This should take us into 2011 who knows what the division will look by then!

Don't forget Mutley, deserves his chance against Brook (both pulled out with injuries for their fight)
They should just avoid Aydin. I've a nasty feeling that might be a bad fight for young Kell.

Aydin is nothing special.....definately beatable!!! I just hope they don't rush Kell!! After Jennings he should go after O'Donnell then maybe one or two warm ups and then Aydin if he's still undefeated & has a good ranking with the major titles!

I hope he fights the best of the rest of the domestic Welterweights. We have a packed mix of fighters at that weight and some very good match ups.

I'm not sold on Aydin tbh.
Think a lot are writing Jennings off far too easily for this one.
