Who Was The Greater Fighter Dick Tiger Or Salvador Sanchez?

Hmmm......Sanchez has the (deserved) awe and some seriously good wins, taking the '0's of Gomez (past best weight?) Nelson (green?) and putting on masterclasses against Danny Lopez (most dangerous FW puncher of all time) and beating some decent challengers like Cowdell but less impressively than his 'matinee performances'.

Personally, I feel Sanchez is very, very high. But there's the 'if' about his record.

What I'm saying is, Tiger's longevity, plus good resume, plus success at higher weights PLUS the fact he also looks a damn machine on film (in a different way of course) PLUS the fact that like Salvador he has an ATG chin............

If Sanch wouldn't have died, then he'd probably rank higher but who knows? I go for Tiger.

That's fair enough, but please share your own opinion. I wouldn't argue that Sanch isn't, just what I thought at that time. I would like someone to make a case for Sal :good

i think for dying at such a young age Sanchez has an incredible record

I don't think so. Special people who are cut down before their prime in any walk of life often attain a mythical status -- and while I personally feel that yes, Salvador Sanchez was that good, that strong at his weight, up there with the very best, it is best to rank him on what he did do rather than his potentially rich future.

Besides, any fighter is more than a number anyway. If people want to know, they'll learn about his exact circumstances.

Imagine if Tyson died just after Spinks. I tell you, it'd been hard to find a person who'd pick a prime Ali over him.

i dont think a young death should aid a rankjing but Sanchezs short career was phenomenal beat a handful of top contenders and 2 HOFers in (green but stll good) Azumah Nelson and (overweight) Wilfredo Gomez

I think Sanchez had the potential to be better, but based on what's actually been done, proven, and accomplished by both men, I don't know if I'd rate him over Tiger.

althoug Dick Tiger was a great fighter I dont think this is even close.Tiger had lots of great wins,but he also had a lot of losses. Sanchez beat every great fighter he met and never lost in his prime and he beat a few atg and alot of quality fighters,his only loss was when he was much younger. Tiger is an atg, but sanchez is an atg on the next level.
