It'd be great for casual fans has there are sure to be thrilling ko's, which is obviously better to watch than a typical hennesy card. It'd cost next hardly anything yet would be better recepted by a british audience. thoughts?

You teasing bastard! In all seriousness, I can see why no broadcasters are showing this card; when the general population don't know who Froch is, then why should they know, or care, who Gamboa and Juanma are? I want Setanta to come back:|.

To be honest we can't even get our own guys on the screen. Setanta would've showed it but no one ahs picked up the Top Rank deal.

Nobody as the situation currently stands is going to show fights from the states in the middle of the night, involving guys only hardcore fans will have heard of, no matter how talented or exiting they are. It's gonna be a stream or torrent for me.

How much is the TR deal worth?
Bob Arum would rather get some UK money rather than nothing at all.

the undercard is class. Duddy vs Munoz and Olandier Solis vs Monte Barret.

less than you would think. says its 120k a year, you have gotta get 2000+ subscribers to make your cash back.

Bang on the money. This is the sort of card that Sky have never really bothered with. Its a bit too "trade" for them.

Guys thanks for the posts and views, as bunce said this would have been a setanta fight. Problem is the cockheads at setanta had to grand and broad ideas like showing college basketball and blue square premier they tried to do to much to soon in a recession instead of focus on the essentials. If i was a sport channel id just focus on footie and boxing, possibly cricket but only for twenty20. Fuck golf, i swear to god it pisses me off when i watch phil fucking fury fight when i could watch juanma. I totally agree with rob palmer when he says he'd pay £5 to watch a quality stream. But id say that a slot on the new primetime channel would be worth a crack...

It's not economically viable to broadcast that late at night, due the the minimal viewership.

Mate if its econmocially viable to have a women gyrating in front of a t.v wearing frilly knickers in the hope some horny sadact will call a premium phoneline so he can rack off whilst she tells him what she do to him. Or if it is economically viable to air show where mugs call trying to win money by guessing the most vague of anwsers to dodgy quiz call shows. And if it econimically viable to show nfl, nhl, nba shows on channel 5 in the middle of the night then im damn sure it'd be viable to air gamboa and juanma fight card.
IF TOP RANK RIGHTS COST 120k PER ANNUM AS SUGGESTED BY R.PALMER, then i am certain you can make primetime pay as you'd only need 2000 people to pay £5 12 times a year to cover it, and the rest is profit mate.
Im just sick of turning over channels to watch fucking poker and call in interactive porn. This primetime channel may be the new setanta in boxing terms. And they'd be risk averse as they arent tied in to contracts and have 1 fight at a time... thoughts...

That garbage makes them a lot of money, five is removing all their late night sport from next year and replacing it with those premium line quizzes.

:-( unbelievable, if promoters moan that they cant get their fights on t.v, its down to them being robbing conning bastards in the past. Theres no point dwelling on the past saying 'i miss setanta'. someone is missingh out on this boxing and needs to get involved asap...
p.s thanks for your input Pug1list

Went to see this one live and have to say it was a fantastic night of boxing. Met a lot of fans of all the fighters beforehand and they were all great guys. A lot of Duddy's fans were commenting on my Buncey T-Shirt and said they would check out the site. Ended up sitting amongst a load of Puerto Rican Juanma fans and what a great crowd they were. At the bar beforehand they chose to speak English for my benefit and I must take my hats off to them, great crowd. Also met a load of Duddys fans in an Irish bar along the road before we went in and had a great craic with them too :)
ps. I stupidly put my programme down for a few seconds in the toilet and when I turned around it was gone lol

Lucky you, you watched one of the fights of the year (maybe even the fight of the year) live with all that atmosphere!

Plenty of people on these forums complained about Setanta while they were alive and kicking. While their Freeview service was laughable and their business model horribly broken, at least they made an effort to rebuild the sport.
Primetime look like fly by nights, really. I doubt they did big business off a busted-up old US champ, a solid but unheralded Armenian, an unknown American prospect and an unlikeable, ugly Nottingham fighter who’d be best known to the public for crying that Joe Calzaghe wouldn’t fight him.
These are facts – it was never a great financial move. They also made the mistake of pricing the PPV too high – if you want to attract the casual fan, you need to make the price of entry better value.
If they cant show their own WBC Super-Middleweight champ on a NON pay per view channel they aren't exactly going to show this fight are they.

I know these cards will never get shown on UK tv but the idea behind these two getting put on the same card is building up to a super-fight. And make no bones about it, it will be a super-fight but it's not a mainstream fight to the casual fans who recognise the likes of Khan. And outwith FFN that is what Sky will show. And that makes sense financially but maybe if they took a gamble every once in a while they might get on to a winner.
What is wrong with Sky showing delayed at 8.30am on a Sunday morning? I would love that as an alternative, it's only a few hours after the card has finished. They used to do that I remember watching Barrera v Morales 3 on a Sunday morning on Sky, great stuff.
You never know Primetime might get in on the act. Until then cards like that will be a stream or a download or a dvd purchase.
