The only way i see it being fair is if you have allocated regions.

Otherwise you could or there could end up being 20 USA posters who vote out of say 25 on who the top 10 are.

I say the system is flawed and i have come up with a system so that will not happen.

i say you have

10 spots for USA posters
6 spots for UK posters
5 spots for Latin based posters (Mex,PR,Cuban etc)
3 spots for Aussie posters
3 spots for Asian posters (Phillipines,China etc)
3 spots for Euro posters (Anywhere but not UK-German etc)

Thats 30 spots and it is spaced out a bit more between countrys and that would make it a fairer more evenly judged ESB ranking system.

I think having knowledgeable posters who are unbiased are more important than where they come from.

Shouldn't matter where they are from IMO.

Do you suspect you will end up with a Pro US committee?

I raised the same point, but there are problems with it, and considering most of the best guys on here are objective it shouldn't matter.

Still, I think diversity is a key, and it would be great to eventually get posters from all over the world, who may have better knowledge in other areas.

There are pros and cons on each system. So far the Lampley system has shown that good posters have been rewarded, and not being nominated as friendly backpadding.

We have seen, what happens in the World Cup in football, when all regions HAVE to be represented; the quality suffers severely.

Nonetheless, good thinking Boppazoo, but the system seems to work for now.

I think the issue with a quota system is that you'll have difficulty maintaining the ratios as the committee expands. Because it will be a growing entity, you'd have to crunch a bunch of numbers or take mediocre posters from area in order to allow great posters from another area entrance.

I've been very concerned about geographical representation, not so much because of bias, but simply based on exposure to the world's fighters that we may not get to see much in North America.

Your concerns are justified, but it seems most posters have kept this in mind and a few European posters are on their way to making the committee.

And thanks for the feedback!

Ultimately no matter how much due diligence is put into the process people will object. Stay on course with the process and lets see where it goes.

I think most of the people in have proven to be fair and unbiased for the most part. I also think the most of the people knocking on the door are just fine as well in that regard.

I am amazed how few mexicans there are.

Twice as many people from Brunei. Best I know, there's never been a pro boxing match held in Brunei.

As for the original point, I agree in some respects, but I think voters have been conscious of this; there are a few UK people, a Dane and a Hungarian who all look like they're on the committee or close to locks to being on the committee, and some Pinoys and Aussies have gotten votes as well.

I do agree that, at the very least, a few people on the committee should have come from the British, Euro and Aussie forums, but it would have been a lot more work for Lampley to do it that way. Don't forget, he doesn't HAVE to do any of this, and if things come out looking biased in the first few polls, then there's always room to overhaul the system a little.

Lads, just because someone is based in Brunei, doesn't mean he's not British, American or German...it is more than likely that they are!:deal

Anything else to contribute, or are you just going to be negative whenever it suits you?

Why is it whenver people respect each other on this message board, and show it, it's some kind of negative thing? Compliments and respect can be given without it meaning much else....or are you more comfortable with the "tough guy I don't give a fuck" image?
