Powderpuff punchers,all of 'em :lol: As solid as a puncher as Ron Lyle was,I do n't think we can count his power in the same category as the first three mentioned. The hardest hitting one ? Tough to gauge.

As far as actual power in terms of " force ", the question is virtually impossible to answer. I have always believed that they were all different types of hitters with different strengths. Shavers probably had more raw power in his right hand than any other fighter had, while Foreman had better balance in both his right and left. Liston was also a man capable of hitting hard with both arms, but probably had a bit more accuracy than Foreman, sometimes making for a more devastating effect. Ron Lyle is not even a factor in this discussion as far as I'm concerned.

I'm going with Liston. Faster and straighter than Foreman or Shavers. I disagree about Lyle, he was a huge puncher. Liston was the best fighter of the bunch.

One of those is not like the others....

Marciano, Dempsey, Tyson, Louis, Cooney, or a number of other quality ko artists should be considered before Lyle. Or maybe even Quarry who was pushing and knocking Lyle all around the ring. Not sure about this forum's obsession with overrating Lyle and Ruddock.

Agreed,

Lyle could defenately bang, but we're talking about the absolute elite of the division's historical punchers. Lyle does not belong among this group.

Agreed.

Lyle was a pretty good puncher but not on that level.

i think ernie has the most raw power. but like already said liston was the better boxer so his power is used more effective.

Based on testimony of common oponents:

1. Shavers
2. Liston
3. Foreman

Not sure where Lyle fits in.

Shavers has the hardest right hand out of these fighters mentioned. Foreman has the most power equally in both hands. Liston has the hardest jab, while Lyle's power in both hands deserves mentioning here as well, not that far off from Foreman and Shavers.
