I think there are more compelling stories to be told imo.

My thought exactly. I still waiting on a movie on Jack Johnson and shit he went through.

They've already made a movie about Jack Johnson.

No they havent. its was a movie based loosely on his life. "The Great White Hope" James Earl Jones played the character of Jack Jefferson a take on Jack Johnson. There has never been a accurate movie based on his life

I can't imagine Aronofsky will stay on this project through the end. He's a control freak who's notoriously difficult to deal with, and has dropped out of every major studio project he's ever been signed onto before (including Superman Returns).

That said, Requiem is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Well in addition to the one already mentioned with James Earl Jones (if memory serves me correct, it says he straight up threw the fight with Willard), there was also the documentary Unforgivable Blackness.

That's a good one to watch.

Walberg will do just fine as Ward. He does the Irish-American tough guy thing pretty well.

But, yeah it seem a funny one to make a film out of given all the other great stories boxing could have provided.

Kassim Ouma would be the best choice for a film.

His boxing career doesn't even need to take up much of the film.

Who gives a fuck about Mickey Ward's life story? He's not even dead yet.

Seriously though, I was kind of surprised when I found out that they're making a film about him.

His dope-addicted half brother does add some drama to his story, but Ward's personality has always been kind of bland and dull. Not what you'd expect as the subject of a film.

sounds a bit to me like his fighting is in hte background. more about how his bro helps him get to where he was i guess.
