Johnson really should be fighting at 185. He missed weight by a lot yesterday, and I'm guessing he was close to 200 pounds tonight. Yoshida took the fight with Johnson at 176 because really, what other choice did he have? I think it was pretty unfair.

Johnson is a talented kid, but if you can't make weight, move up already.

To be fair Johnston blamed it on a knee injury preventing him from cardio training properly. That sounds legit. If he fails to make weight in his next fight, then sure he should move up. But lets wait and see

People are going to bitch about that stoppage and I hate Mazzagatti as much as the next guy but the fact is, Rothwell looked out of it when taking those shots, and he only got up when the stoppage was called. It's hardly like the referee could go "oops, nevermind" when he gets up.

Massive heart and massive chin by that guy, absolutely shocking takedown defense and ground game, nothing he could do about that.

Right. Lesnar would not get caught in any of the submissive positions Ben found himself in all night. He'd keep control out of Cain's hands with pretty minimal effort. He's more athletic and certainly stronger than Cain but less explosive. Could be really good.

He certainly does. I like Silva a lot.

Machida really impressed with his counterpunching though. Silva counterpunches, but its more simply him being able to dodge and fire off faster than his opponent.

Machida on the other hand, I could see the first time I saw him, he actively looks for his opponents patterns and movement cues, studies his opponents and looks for holes. He also has excellent footwork, and sets traps, walking his men into shots and awkward positions.

He is also very disciplined and composed in the cage, not at all on edge or cagey.

The whole raging Alpha male come screaming and fuming with a sociopath staredown, he doesnt do that.

Very cool and collected. :smoke

Machida showed an absolute lack of any sort of aggresion.

Moments, way too sporadic.

I think I can finally drop the Cerrone-Henderson issue. This was ten times the robbery, and I was rooting for Machida.

Wow, horrible decision. I don't think Shogun did a ton to win this, but he clearly won it by the "ten point" must system.

Yep. Just as Cerrone won 3 rounds NQA, Rua won 4 NQA and arguably all 5.

The first round was competitive. Machida's knees to the face and head kick - while not much - were the offensive highlights of the first two minutes.

You have the balls to insult anybody else, yet you give not one but two rounds to Machida?

You've lost it.
Look, fuck off, please. I'm sick of these turdbasket judges like you who are all "OH I JUDGE YOU BECAUSE YOU GAVE TWO ROUNDS TO MACHIDA". I fucking did, okay? I wasn't listening to Rogan and Goldberg going on about how AMAZING Rua was doing and discounting Machida's counter punching, fuck that, okay? You don't discount the counter punch because you think the original was better, you tally. You score, that is the sport. I still scored it to Rua anyway, so why bitch?

Machida did not win that fight in my eyes, Rua did well to solve that puzzle, and the guy is elite, definitely. I can see these guys fucking up Light-Heavyweight definitely. To me, it just seems you can't put either guys in the ring with anyone at LH. I mean, it's all so boring to them. Either of them will fuck up Jardine, Silva, Wanderlei, Griffin, Tito, Liddell, Rampage, what's the fucking point, really? They need to fight eachother or Anderson, that's the only guys who will be able to fight. It's sort of like a different division. You have "light-heavyweight" and "fucking elite light-heavyweight", those guys are in the felh.

Look, I'm not gonna be one of these dickheads who screams "ROBBERY" because tbh, I'm tired of you fucks. I've sat here through Paulie Malignaggi/Diaz, I've sat here through Froch/Dirrell and honestly, it's boring. I enjoyed the fight, I believe Rua won, what the fuck does either guy lose? Nothing, because it's UFC. That's the beauty. Hate the thing as much as you want but either guy will fight on the main card again. The thing you want to focus the most on tonight is the crowd. The moron idiots who bought a ticket and dared to boo a fucking chess match. I bet 50% of those idiot fucks bought the tickets because they saw Machida KO Evans and thought "OH LOOK LETS JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON AND WEAR A WHITE FLAG WITH A RED DOT IN THE MIDDLE HE'S SO GREAT". To quote Ali in subtext, Lyoto Machida will beat Rashad Evans any day of the week and Shogun Rua will beat Rashad Evans any day of the week.

Jerry's final thought: Just stop fucking bitching about the ROBBERY shit, it's boring, man. UFC is a little bit different in that aspect, as much of a cunt you think Dana is when it comes to making fights, he'll know that Rua and Machida will get main event fights next. Those guys are made for eachother in a tactical fight. Score it how you want, that fight you could watch for about 4 fucking hours and still find interesting.

Could you break down which??

I gave Machida the first three rounds. I thought he was landing the more solid shots to the body while Rua was working the legs. Machida also stuffed all of Shogun's takedown attempts and the few exchanges where they traded blow for blow I thought Machida was better off. After that Shogun took control for the rest of the fight and won the final two rounds.

I'm quite surprised that everyone on here thought it was such a robbery, but I just checked Sherdog and MMA Junkie and they seem to think Rua won as well.

I'll watch it again but my initial reaction was a narrow Machida victory.

Machida's defense was pretty good in the first two rounds but I can't bring myself to award them to him on it alone. His only significant offense in round 1 came in the form of the initial volley of knees and a really beautiful head kick - and that was all spread out over the first two minutes.
