Now that Oleg Maskaev is out with a back a injury and cant fight on Oct 6, who should take his place and should the WBC strip Maskaev of the WBC belt?

I know, but like they did with the Marquez-Barrios situation, they could find a replacement to fill in for their original scheduled fights.

I feel Oliver Mccall should get his promised chance at the WBC belt by fighting Peter, its like killing 2 birds with one stone. Not only do you give Mccall his promised shot at the title but you also have a good fill in, whos already in training for his fight with Gomez. If Peter could knock out Mccall he could knock out anyone.

Ahh I see. Anyways, I don;t think Golota should fight Peter just yet. He needs to shake more of that rust on Mccnugget.
Speaking of Mcnuggets, I think im gonna go to Mcdonalds now. I didn't eat lunch at all today.

Rahman or Tua against Peter would be worth watching. Tua vs Peter would be like Tua's bout with that other African guy Ibeabuchi. A brawl would be great for the Heavyweight division.

I'd say someone from the top-10 WBC ranking:
1. Peter
2. Virchis
3. McCall
4. Rahman
5. Gomez
6. Valuev
7. Dimitrenko
8. Holmes
9. Povetkin
10. Tua
if nobody accepts than someone from the other HW bouts scheduled on the same card.

I'd say Virchis then I didn't know he was ranked that high. The 1 and 2 guys should fight it out.
Virchis should get his shot, he deserves it more than anybody on that list, even more than Peter.

Peter should fight Foreman now. Biggest fite ever. Foreman lost crown in Africa. Sam Peter was there at the fight trashing Foreman on way back to dressing room in 1974. Payback is a B!!

Why would Peter wanna fight anyone else risking his shot at the belt that he already has? Im hoping they take Maskaevs belt away from him and award to Peter, that would make things much easier. Boxing needs to start catering to the fans instead of the fighters, thats try and get the Heavywieght division back on the map.

DITTO! If Peter has any balls left after fighting Toney, lets see his ass face the ATOMIC BULL!!!! I think that fight makes the most sense, and you know Mccall is as hungry as any other fighter out here and he would definitely take the fight on short notice since he had a fight with Gomez coming up a couple weeks later.

Doesnt Maskaev have only a year to defend his title against the mandatory I know it close to a year since he beat Rahman, he should be stripped or at least let Peter fight for the interim title against the highest ranked contender for the belt that's available.

The ohkelo fight was a voluntary defense that the WBC granted him before his fight with the mandatory with Peter. So then does he have 1 year from his last defense or 1 year to fight his mandatory, period?

1 year to face his mandatory. That optional defense is not included.
Therefore the WBC needs to step in and strip him now. No exceptions.

I also think under certain circumstances you can petition belt organization for more time, I think thats what Vitali did when he got injured training for the Rahman fight.

Peter should fight against Vitali for the Interim Title in Dezember, that would be the best solution for BOTH Nr. 1 Contender.
Maybe McCall (I don't want to see this)
Virchis (absolutly overrated and boring)

I'd really like Peter-McCall to happen, but by ranking Virchis deserves a fight-off with Peter.
Giving McCall his shot now really helps out the potential backlog on the WBC contender situation, though.

I would say either McCall or Briggs would be great stand ins for an interim belt though I doubt Briggs is ready to fight that soon.

At this point Peter should be allowed to fight for the interim title, but it should also be legit. Anything less than Virchis or McCall would be unacceptable.

I think Briggs is better against bigger guys who dont make him move too much. He gets pretty tired if he has to move too much lol. I think it would be an explosive fight with a guaranteed KO for someone if Briggs stepped in with Peter. But I`m not expecting this to happen

Peter is not perticularily evasive so I can imagine Briggs landing on him at the same time he would have to be in better shape than his last fight which on this short of a notice would be nothing short of a miracle.

Both fighters have a lot of issues, but what we know for sure is that Peter has a good chin and Briggs has bad stamina. So, I would expect Peter handle Briggs's bombs until The Cannon gases and probably gets KO'd.

Peter would advance and there would be fire works the whole way until it was over.

The Briggs that showed up against Lyakovich was still pretty pathetic. You would have to go all the way back to his fight with George Foreman to find a halfway decent version of Briggs with the ability to go the distance.

I agree... There are two many WBC Top Dogs postponing fights endlessly for training injury reasons... Wonder if Dr Iron Fist Vitaly and Big Oleg were to fight for the title, where would it be staged? In the Las Vegas Orthopedic Hospital? Sam Peter should be the new WBC Titlist just like it happened to Lewis in 93 and to Rahman after Vitaly Klitschko himself and more recently and Peter should fight a legit WBC Top Contender still this year, Big O may secure a title fight whenever he feels operational... The natural Peter opponent would be The Atomic Bull who has been promised a title shot by Jose himself but since he's in to defend that meaningless WBC International HWT Title against Juan Carlos Gomes in a less than an awaited rematch, bring on immediately Vladimir Virchis if the EBU Champ is as good as he's been labeled!

Fully agree.
To be fair, the only fighters who are really deserving to fight for an interim title are Oliver and Virchis. Noone else deserves a chance to fight for it, other than those two.
Peter/McCall 1st option
Peter/Virchs 2nd option
Anything else would be screwing these two guys outta what they rightfully deserve.
