Virchis.

I don't care if he's slow and boring to some people. He is the second most deserving (yes fuck Klitschko) to the WBC crown. Strip Maskaev and vacate the title. Sam Peter vs Wlad Virchis for all the marbles.

Problem solved.

Mccall vs Peter, it will be one hell of obstacle trying to knockout Mccall. I have a strange feeling Mccall would win this one, the man has serious determination and drive to be champ again. I really hope he gets a chance before he turns 50.

If anyone can stand there and take Peter's bombs it would be McCall or Tua, those two have the best chins of any heavyweight in the last 15 years or so. McCall is more deserving at the moment, so I wouldnt mind seeing him against Peter.

I did not say he deserved it, at all..

But it would be an awesome fight to watch... Much better than Oleg and Peter.. Oleg Maskaev is a piece of shit, and even more so since the fight has been postponed.. Getting a belt from Rahman is less an achievement than getting a belt from Ruiz.. And defending it against...uh, whoever the hell Oleg defended it against, is even shittier.

I'm suprised how votes McCall is getting, but its hard to argue with any of those choices. I'd prefer to see Vitali, but clearly, he is also unavailable. I voted for Liakhovich, but I'd honestly be okay with anyone at this point. Just friggin fight!

Why ?

Where's the precedent for being stripped of the title due to an injury that will take 1-3 months to heal?

WBC terms state that you have 1 year between mandatories to face them or be stripped. It has already been over a year. The optional defenses do not count either.

They've already gone through this council once with the proposed Klitschko fight.

We are as of now 1 month and 10 days over the yearly mandate. I wouldn't be surprised to see We Be Corrupt give him another 3 months. That'll mean he'll have gone 1 year and 4 months without making a mandatory defense. Good job!

They should do the right thing and stop being instrumental in killing the heavyweight division.

McCall would be most logical, since he was promised a shot. He´s scheduled to fight Gomez soon though, so he might not be available.

I don´t really care, let´s just throw in any decent contender who wants it in there with Peter and let them fight. It´s better than these endless postponements and inactivity BS we´ve been having.

Okay, first I said VITALI not WLADIMIR and secondly WLADIMIR already beat the shit outta that fat putz, surviving blatant rabbit punches to do so.

VITALI took some of the most perfectly throw uppercuts from an ATG Lennox Lewis, and not only did he not go down, he didn't back up. He threw shots back. That's a fuckin' fighter I admire asshole. As if VITALI would back up at all against a boxing novice with overrated power such as Sam Peter. You're pathetic.

Correction:

The WBO belt dropped Shannon from what I remember, by way of Ibragimov throughly outworking & outboxing Briggs.

I do believe this would be a good fight but it shouldn't happen because Briggs has done nothing to deserve a shot at the WBC after losing the WBO in the ring.

no there wouldn't when was the lat time sharon threw bombs? The last 2 guys have basically popped in and got out, there is a fear of Briggs power amongst teh smaller guys, Sultan admitted he didnt want to get in there because what happened to Liakovich. If Briggs fights a bigger man like Peter he wouldn't run around the ring the whole fight and it would be excitting. It's not like Sultan had a big punch output in that fight either.

sultan doesn't punch hard, and he still managed to knock sharon down, sharon wouldn't survive 12 with peter, peter has a better chin than sergei and far better stamina.

sharon might land a few bombs here and there, but then he will get tired.

Two things, here Briggs was never knocked down in that fight he was thown/pushed he was not punched to make that happen.
Briggs was in awful shape for that fight....he was the heaviest in his career and he looked to be in bad health. The pneumonia thing really screwed him over. I think the Briggs that faced Sergei would have put up a much better fight. This is not to say he shouldnt be a bit lighter than he was against Sergei because I think he needs to drop 15 lbs to get back a bit of movement.

Admire someone who isn't a front runner, you certainly are a big fan of SB. I think Peter-Briggs could be a good fight if Briggs showed up in decent shape, else it won't last long. And that's a big if w/your guy. Shannon has done little to deserve a shot. I like the McCall, Virchis, Tua choices.

you said the klitschko's never run, i said you must have missed peter vs klitschko, idiot. Amazing, Wlad got caught by rabbit punches, and busted SP up pounding out a 12 round UD by uh, running. :nut How much running do you need to do against the powerful but plodding Peter?
