very shacky chin I have seen him stunned 2 times by very limited opposition but his skills remind me of a young roy jones junior

Excellent speed and reflexes, relatively untested so far...still too many questions left to be answered, but give him time and we will know more about him.

I would never compare Ward to Roy Jones. I am not impressed by Ward at all.

Given his pedigree and undefeated record, he should at least be on SHo-box by now, I don't know who promotes him but they need to market him better.

i remeber watching him in the olympics and he looked amazing. then when he got to the pros and got rocked a couple of times he seemed more tenative which is going to kill him. He needs to go do or die, his reflexes are outstanding and he if just bites down and becomes more offensive than defensive, he can be extremely dangerous. He starched someone in his last fight by doing this and looked impressive. His chin worries me however.

expect him to go about 20-0, pick-up a title against a weak 'champion', and then get exposed as soon as he's in a legit pick'em fight

ward is extreamly talented .. has more raw talent the a jermaine taylor. ward had some promational problems. i from the bay about 20 min from oakland .. from what i here at kings gym he'll be kicking it up in 2008 he is also planning on signing with GBP as soon as his contract expires. when he does you will see him every where kinda like amir khan in the uk.

Ward is one of those guys with all the skill, but doesn't seem to have that warriors heart that makes great champions. He doesn't seem to lay it all in the ring.

It will be his downfall.

Ward is a very good technical fighter. Uses his fast hard jab to control the fight, and like to bait his opponents to and then counter punch them off the way in.

He pot shots a fair bit, and doesn't put together his combinations any where near as well as a young RJJ.

I still believe he is a good fighter, and he has the skills to be the best prospect in boxing right now (better then Berto). Whether he has the chin or the heart is another matter though.

Listening to him in interview he seems very pasisonite about the sport.

So far the best prospects to me are the cubans Gamboa and Solis!

extremely talented, I dont know why people doubt him so much, he has only had 13 pro fights. A prospect is a prospect for a reason, and he is one of the best out there right now. Personally I believe prospects should have at least 20+ pro fights before they ever attempt to step up in class against eltie journeyman or anyone like that, and then not until around 30 fights should they be considered for a title. I know there are lots of exceptions, but it seems as though so often prospects get thrown in wiht someone and lose and then are completely written off. Not enough time is put into their development

I disagree. Ward would have been fighting better guys in the amatuers, and would be sparring guys who are better then the opposition he fights.

And I feel that's part of the problem, he likes to fight like Roy Jones Jr. but he doesn't have half the talent of a Jones Jr., so he's not quick enough to imitate that style without getting caught.

What I think of Ward is that he's just another Jason Litzau, in other words, here's a mildly talented guy with a shiny record who's just a brutal KO waiting to happen. It'll happen once he takes a step up in competition or once he gets in there with a guy who can really crack. Either way it'll happen soon, mark my words.

Agree there is only one Roy.

But disagree about the Litzau comparison, Ward is a class above in terms of skill and that skill level used correctly can prevent his chin from being checked for a while yet.
Litzau wasnt anything more than a ESPN2 fighter but for some reason people expected more.

Ward has shown he is beatable and he probably will get knocked off when he steps up to contender status.
