Their encounter seems to come off in january 2010 - somewhere in Germany.
Chambers wont risk his shot at Klitschko ' s title and rematch Povetkin.

Peter vs Povetkin. Your thoughts? Good tune-up fight for Wlad? Too dangerous a threat? High risk?

Itīs definitly a fight for the fans but may turn out to be a bad decision for Sasha career-wise. I hope he wins, wann see him against Wlad. If he beats Peter decisivly he may be ready for him.

Depends on what kind of shape Peter will be in.

Definitely an interesting encounter and I hope they manage to seal a deal for it.

I still think Peter is dangerous fighter, better for Povetkin to fight directly Wlad

This is medium-risk, medium-reward for Povetkin.

The Peter from the 2nd Toney fight, maybe. Where the hell has he been?

I tend to think Povetkin's advantages in height, speed, and skill will be too much for Peter. This will be a good way for him to test his chin, if he gets hit solid, and it will be a good fight for him to work on his defense.

Sasha should win basically every round. perhaps even scoring a late accumulation TKO!

Too bad for Peter that the bout will land in Germany. The last time he visited/fought, he claimed the Krauts gassed him via the air ducts in his hotel room, causing his sluggish performance against Vitaly.

:rofl:rofl:rofl

Teddy Atlas is not a good trainer.

Povetkin by UD. He might get his chin tested though.

Povetkin will not stop a 240ish Peter. It's a dangerous fight for him. Povetkin fights inside and isn't very hard to hit. Peter will test that chin.

Perhaps...not sure where the chin questions are coming from. None of what I've seen has indicated there might be cracks. Certainly if they are there a lighter Peter could take their measure.

I would love to see this fight if Peter come into the fight in shape.

very much looking forward to seeing this fight. IMO it ll tell us a lot about Povetkin. He surely is the faster and more versatile boxer of the two and should win the rounds while still on his feet, he has to avoid letting the man inside obviously, so we ll be able to see what Povetkins skills moving backwards will be like. And likely we ll be able to assess his taking abilities as well.

Good match up :good

Teddy Atlas announced his being the trainer for Povetkin tonight on ESPN, I hope he does not destroy Povetkin like he did so many others, such as Michael Grant.

According to boxrec Povetkin will give his next fight on December 5. It doesn't mention the opponent . The opponent is To Be Announced. Any information ? :huh

Peter would need a baseball bat to beat Povetkin.

Even then..... the outcome isn't certain

Beating a 39 year old, glass jawed Maskaev, a gift over a fat, old James Toney and a few bums is all he has..... bar putting Wlad down three times and still losing.

Vitali totally owned the guy, Chambers did an excellent job on him as well.

Povetkin KO11 :deal

[I assume it's over 12]

Bad fight for Povetkin? i don't think so! this is a bad fight for Peter. Povetkin will completely outbox Peter and probably win every round of a 12 rounder unless Peter gets him with a vicious left hook.
Bad choice of opponent by Peters manager. He's too slow and too heavy.
Povetkin by UD.
It will be very interesting to see Povetkin with Atlas as his new trainer!

Will Povetkin risk missing out on big cash against Wlad?

I still have my doubts about this fight.

Povetkin should have no problems whatsoever with this plodder. Povetkin was a great, great amateur lest we forget, he has more in his locker than the inside fighting/combination puncher we've seen for the majority of his pro career.

I think we'll see a tactical fight from Povetkin, he'll show his speed and skills on the outside, box and move, just beat Peter up the easiest way to beat him.

This is how I feel.

It's strange to me that people could view this as possibly being close.
