Well maybe not everyone but work colleagues who don't know boxing and even the missus are interested in this one.
I just bought BN from WHSmiths and the women who served me saw the front of the mag and started to talk about the fight even though she ain't much of a boxing fan.
The promotion of this fight has been amazing - all over the papers and news. Was on front of the free sports mag in London today.
Jim Watt said the other night something along the lines that he was worried that Haye was seeing this as an event rather than a fight. With the amount of coverage he's personally got and given I'm a bit worried about this too.

I noticed the talk for this fight is pretty good too. BN was nearly sold out today too at Smiths. Which in MK is a rarety
I was expecting your post to be "...but what about Dawson-Johnson II"
Seriously though, this is the most hyped fight since Hatton-Floyd.

Even bigger than Rigsby vs Phillip.

Numbers must be good already. You can see the sky presenters have been told to refer to it at every chance. Football matches are now David & Goliath clashes.

Yeah that's probably true, sadly. Was watching a few eps on youtube last week, still has me in stitches. Watched Le Petomane as well. Leonard Rossiter was fucking brilliant. "If you sue me sir, I shall never fart in Paris again!"
EDIT: Rik Mayall does a pretty funny-if over the top Rigsby.

Don't remember that discussion but Rigsby v Philip was some fight. If Farm Boxer was on here he'd be backing Rigsby all the way and would not have seen any foul play in the KO outcome...

I was visiting my uncle who is in hospital recovering from an eye operation, and was with my mum, her sister and my grandma.
We were talking about rugby and all of a sudden my grandma (who was reading the paper) said ''how is that little guy gonna beat him''
The nurse came over and (bless her) nearly collapsed in shock at how large Valuev looked, so when I basically told them all to get down the bookies and start loading up on the Hayematrix they just burst out laughing..... then it was the ''are you serious?'' phase.
Valeuv has done alot to promote the fight without saying anything to actually hype the fight.
As people have said this fight has got the public interested and its mainly down to the sheer size of Valuev, and the average Joe wants to know how a guy the size of Haye could win, if he can.

In my gym's changing room today, everyone was watching the weigh in feature on Sky Sports, and people were making comments - never seen that before a fight, the talk I hear is always footy or cricket-related.

Theres a big piece in the Mail today (yes I know!!) about previous HW champs and their height in relation to Valuev, not often you see Tommy Burns in the papers these days!!

My son really wants to watch the fight so the adverts must be really working.

The sad thing is if he was facing Vlad or Vitali who are a mere 6'7 ish they the coverage would be halfed! Am very interested in the PPV numbers tho. At work on Wed/Thu folk talking bout getting the fight on PPV now they talking bout other plans for Sat so a lot of the interest is just as long as its free and in the papers. I think its gonna be well recieved by the boxing fans and sports fans but alot of folk just like talking abuot whats in the papers and being part of something but they wont shell out.

I think the coverage for a Vitali fight would be very big.
They would lean on the Lennox Lewis angle.
If I was talking to someone about Haye vs Klitschko, and mentioned a brother, they would simply say..... I didn't know there were two Klitschkos!

It's getting loads of hype from non-boxing fans alright. Haye is marketable enough and the fact that Valuev is huge is creating plenty of interest.

I really hope Haye knocks this freak out , he is there for the taking. My only worry is Haye's fitness.

To be honest the fight sells itself in as much as the whole David Goliath angle - its a promoters dream. Kudos to Haye and his team though for getting him on Paul O grady, Question Of Sport etc - just hope it hasn't distracted him from the job at hand.
I keep having to tell people at work, in the pub etc that the super six the other week and a certain fight next week are bigger fights in the boxing world, theyre having none of it though.

I must have heard everyone in the office today talk about this fight and they never talk about boxing.
They were all going on about how Valuev was 7'4"

The commentator on Leicester Tigers v South Africa used it as a metaphor earlier too - good to see Sky commentators towing the line.
