I didn't watch the fight (i'm on nights) however I was wondering what you guys thought of this ?
I watched the Witter fight and to me he quit. He didn't have that big of an injury he just knew he was getting beat.

Did this happen to Rogan tonight ?

Same thing happened to Klitschko. Isn't their any possibility it just really fucking hurts? Why doesn't this happen to Zab Judah or Nate Campbell or Golota? No, it happens to the harder guys who have tonnes of heart and a good chin, couldn't it be possible that they were injured?

Also, I'm a witter fanboy so I'm going to be a little bias on this topic.

Here is what I think happened

I thought Rogan turned his back to quit (ala No Mas) towards the end of the 6th, but the ref didn't realise, Rogan then thought about it and realised there would be a riot if he quit so fought on, went back to his corner at the end of the round and he pulled out (don't think he needed too much persuading) at the request of his trainer.

There's my view and I expect to get slated for it. :good

I don't know if it was because of an injury or if Rogan just didn't want anymore, but after the ref broke them up a couple of times, Rogan did seem to turn away a bit.

He took a big shot early in the fight, in the second I think. I think that rocked him a lot, his head was gone a bit. He fought on on instinct for as long as he could but he couldnt keep it going.

Something I didn't make clear in my previous post was that Rogan was definitely hurt in the 6th and I'm not for one second implying he did a Duran in quitting simply because he was frustrated. I think he could have fought on but don't blame him for pulling out and the guy has more than proven his heart in previous fights.

It was a shame both fights ended the way they did. I like Rogan, but whilst Sexton is by far the better boxer he always seems to be a good couple of punchers away from being stopped.

I thought Rogan fought a stupid fight tactically, he came out whaling away. Sexton stayed calm. Rogan missed wildly at times. He looked utterly spent at the end of the 6th.
He was hurt a couple of times. I thought he could have shown a bit more grace towards Sexton afterwards too, but whatever he says its now 2 nil to Sam.

I'm not sure if it was to quit, but he did turn his back and walk off (it was more than just a turning of back to avoid shots).

Good scrap though.

At the end of the day though, how many all out Balboa type fights can a 37 year old man get involved in.

Theres no way Rogies arm was hurt. The guy just fought with the wrong tactics.
Came out swinging from the first bell being urged on by the masses. He simply gassed out, & had nothing left.

A poor, poor excuse from Rogie claiming afterwards that he came into the fight with the injury, funny how his 'arm injury' wasnt affecting him when he was rabbit punching Sextons head off!

Rogies just bitter, but I can see why he didnt want to give Sexton credit afterwards, as these guys truly hate each other. This one was personal, & Sexton was just as bad saying how if the fight went on longer he would have gave Rogie a beating etc when he was pretty gassed out himself due to Rogies early bodywork...

It was a great fight though as long as it lasted.

To round it up, basically the younger guy with bad stamina outlasted the older guy with bad stamina!
If Sexton could sort out his stamina issues he could go on to have a really good career.

How does a man with poor stamina overcome this problem though? You people tell me!

First of all hope you had a good night Green Gloves :good

I'm not jealous at all pal. Hardly a big Sexton fan if i'm honest. And we all now know that Rogan completely made that sectarian shit up. He made himself look an idiot and in a round about way was actually bringing up the sectarianism himself. Sexton is a pretty limited boxer with poor stamina, and he's beat your man twice now.

You think guys with naturally bad stamina like Jermaine Taylor dont put in hard work when they are in training?

aye Dan great night, seriously amazing atmosphere at the fight, really pathetic undercard though, but good beer, good beer lol

dont think that sectarian stuff was made up though dan, think alot of truth came out of it,first fight rogie definatly didnt get it handed to him,its a pity what happened. this fight rogan looked fucked,i mean fucked at the end of the 6th,we were all saying at the end of the 5th this is all where it ends boys he does him in the next because he looked to make sexton all amir legged!but ah well fair play to sexton, some quality basics,1-2 destroyed rogan and he just didnt seem to have the conditioning!

you enjoy the fights dan, just watched mccloskey, fuck that boy's good!

Rogan boxed the totally wrong fight. Tried to batter Sexton from the first bell when he should have known his best chances would come rd. 8 onwards. he wasted a fuck load of energy landing bombs on arms and gloves.

Rogan is a pathetic excuse for a boxer. The quit was a joke. Straight away he knew he had lost the fight he packed in, shame he did not go out like a warrior but his hype train has ended now with an embarrassing defeat.

Rogan was fooked. He had put all his energy into the round before but couldn't take Sexton out. I'm not sure about this injury as he was staggering about in his final round like he was totally gassed and stunned.

A note on Sexton: I see him struggling to overcome the likes of Audley & Chisora. I think we are going to have a merry go around of Commonwealth/British HW champions over the next year or so.

So unless you can box like Ali you have to throw every punch like a bomb, regardless of where it lands, right from the off?

Hmmm, perhaps you should give Ricky Hatton a call, tell him where he's been going wrong.

Well Rogan didnt look fit, was fecked after 5 rounds, blowing out his arse. Thats what happens when you change trainers for no reason, lots of boxers do this, is it cause of money? Pish excuse at the end I thought

have you watched rogan, thats all he can do,he is not and never will be a good boxer, his grit and determination has got him has far as he can go,he has done really well on hardness alone:good

and why the fuck would i ring hatton up,he has done better than most british boxers in his career, and is 20 times a better boxer than rogan will ever be mate:blurp

Why did Rogan even fight Sexton in the first place, 1st time around?

Surely the right promoter could have got him a big money name Stateside after beating Harrison & Skelton back to back. The lad's 38 now, he was never going to get another 10 years out of the sport so why not go out with a bang & a large payday than a domestic fizzle like this?

Think the talk around the time of the 1st fight was that Sexton was a tune-up before getting a European title shot. Could be wrong though.

No I am a big fan of a few Irish fighters but certain Irish posters think I hate them all.

I am a huge McCloskey fan and was cheering his name last night and I believe him to be genuine world class.

I am a big fan of Macklin and Jaime Moore and was really glad to see Sinclair back last night, I am going to see the Irish boxing in Leeds soon just to see Coleman Barret who could be very decent at cruiser.

I even like Tyson Fury and the Hyland brothers, I just do not rate the brothers too well and I am not a fan of Bernard Dunne.

If you want to ask me about any other Irish fighters then I will tell you what I think. I definetly prefer them to most Cockney boxers.

Rogan lost a fan in me when he stared all the shit in the build up to this fight both with Breen and Sexton and seeing him quit was hilarious but very sad for all the fans in the crowd who had believed him to be a genuine warrior and not a cry baby idiot.

fair enough mazallan, you just come across as a serious hater, i mean if you watched prizefighter, harrison, skelton or sexton I,rogan showed some unbelievable heart for a man who has so little boxing experience to go and do what he did in the professional game at his age is amazing and watching him filled me with huge pride!

i was in the crowd last night and sure i was disappointed when i saw rogie turn his back in the 6th but he gave everything he had in the 5th, but there must have been somehting wrong with him cos that was one thing i was never worried about, his stamina!he is a warrior and if every fighter had a heart like him boxing would be a better place,i tell you what the biggest thing sexton learned in the two fights is what it means to be a warrior,he was immense last night!
