View Full Version : Why does nobody want to see Rahman vs. Peter (as a replacement!)

Rahmans chin was or is his problem in his carreer but the guy is strong as an Ox and when he hits someone flush its over. Besides that hes a really nice guy. It seems he hes fading but maybe he can get in topform again. I think if they would find someone like Rahman for Peter to fight Oktober 6 as an replacement everybody should be happy about that.

It's a good entertaining fight but I'm also pissed because I wanted Peter to fight for the WBC Championship like he was promised to, sadly it didn't happen and no one can blame Maskaev for getting injured either, it's a part of this sport.

I don't think Rahman is capable of getting in top form again. Whatever prime he had is gone, IMO. However if he WAS in his prime I might've even chose Rahman to win this by decision. Right now? Peter will most likely stop him by the middle of the fight.

Rahman has had enough chances. I wouldn't mind seeing Tua get a shot. He has still only lost 3x, to Ike, Lewis and Byrd. No shame there. Plus he has only had one shot at any major title, despite beating two heavyweight champions (Rahman plus the notorious assrape of Ruiz), which is bullshit when you see how many the likes of Golota and co have gotten. Plus Tua-Peter would be a fuckin' war, much more so than Peter-Rahman.

Dont get me wrong, Peter would be the huge favourite in the fight and i would pick him to win but we are talking about a replacement on short notice here. What i say is you can be happy if they find an caliber fighter like Rahman for the Pktober 6 date. Its sad that Peter vs. Maskaev is off but im glad that Peter will still fight this date. I dont think Rahman is much lesser than maskaev, even though he lost twice against him. The fights could have gone either way. Put Rahman in 10 times against Maskaev he would win about 5. Put both man in with Peter 10 times and they would win only 1, maybe 2.

Well stated.

Rahmen woudl be mismatch considering Peter's power. A possible one round affair.

Besides, there is no way Rahmen could get in shape in time.

Haven't we seen Rahman get KTFO enough times already? The man will suffer brain damage if he gets stopped again.

Also, if Rahman replaced Maskaev, then Peter would be fighting an opponent who has been starched TWICE by the man he replaced. Whereas if Tua fought, Maskaev would be replaced by a man who holds a KO victory over him.

So I guess that's three titleholders that Tua has knocked out, for his one shot at Lennox Lewis.

True, whereas Tua has a match lined up as of now and has fought twice in the last couple of months.

Of course Tua would be an even better opponent, hell he would be even better than maskaev. Peter would not be able to knock this man out and he could really prove how good he can box and win an loopsided decision.

Rahman is not and has never been an exciting heavyweight to watch. I believe that is why. Plus, they feel he has lost enough times (recently to be exact) to not be deserving of this fight.

Whoever hates the idea then who else is there available as a quick replacement?, at least it's Rahman and not a random unknown jobber.

But there are other guys who can be more competative and exciting than Rahman...someone like Oliver McCall or David Tua.
I would say David Tua would be a good call since he is already training. It wouldnt be fair to pull up anyone on quick notice for a big fight against someone like Peter.

I think Rahman is shot

Because Rahman has had so many chances, is aging, and is looking like a shot fighter. I just hope Peter fights somebody on the 6th and if it happens to be Rahman, okay.

It's a terrible matchup. Prime Rahman would have a chance at outboxing him and winning by decision, but Peter has an iron chin, and Rahman is no defensive dynamo. Rahman's chin probably can't hold up to Peter's clubbing bombs so he probably loses the match by KO or TKO most of the time. That's Prime Rahman though. Rahman as he is now stands no chance against Peter.

I wouldn't mind it but Rahman didn't exactly do himself any favors in the Taurus Sykes fight. He looked like a slug in there. McCall is the better choice. He could probably get out of that Gomez fight if he wanted to. It sucks cuz I like all these guys and don't want to see them lose. Damn Maskaev. He needs to retire and quit wasting everyone's time.
