No, I think there were much more casual fans that bought the fight. Infact I believe more casual fans bought the fight than hard core fights. Remember it was over 2 million buys. Everyone I knew here in Cali all the way to Utah were buying it and they were mainly casual fans I spoke to.

Yeah you're probably right. With those kinds of buys there had to be a much greater amount of casual bxing fans who tuned in, but even amongst those the great majority were probably De La Hoya fans.
I wouldn't say De La Hoya fans but very likely just rooting for De La Hoya. I'm sure they bought the fight because of De La Hoya but it doesn't necessarily make them De La Hoya fans.

I watched it, I'm not an Oscar fan, a Floyd fan/hater and I like to think I'm more than just a causual fan. How about another category "boxing fans"?
