I don't think so. Boxing isn't even big in Mexico now, I bet the average Mexican doesn't know who is Pac.

Boxing is HUGE! in Mexico since they started to air Boxing Championship fights on National TV in January of this year.

Mijares vs Arce got an audience of 40 million people.

Pacquiao-Barrera will try to break that record.

Also the Pacquiao-Solis fight was shown on National TV.

If you put a Boxing card vs a Soccer game right now, the boxing card will have the best ratings.

He's respected.

mexico and the phillipines should get along! both have a lot in common:

1. you cant drink the water.

2. both are good for a nice sex vacation.

3. the men are generally shorter than valuevs shlong!

I find that very hard to believe. isn't Football (soccer) the biggest and most dominating sport in Mexico??

It's not that hard to believe.

Boxing and Soccer always have been the favorite sports in Mexico.

Every boxing Champioship fight and some Prospects fights since January of this year (Arce vs Ler) involving mexicans have been aired on National TV.

The only ones that they have not air, are Margarito-Williams and Kessler-Andrade, but you can watch them on HBO.

JC Chavez is bigger in status than Hugo Sanchez (best mexican soccer player).

But then boxing went to PPV AND Hbo in Mexico.

But now thanks to TV Azteca, that changed, and because TV Azteca is doing amzing numbers with their boxing.

Televisa (their rival) made a deal with Golden Boy to air their fights (Barrera-Marquez, Vazquez-Marquez I), they even showed the Claderon-Cazares fight.

TV Azteca buy the rights to air Top Rank fights and they even put the Vazquez-Marquez II, in the same card that Morales-Diaz, Chavez Jr and solis fought.

TV Azteca is beating Televisa right now in Boxing, they also won the rights to Barrera-Pacquiao II.

And they just not put Championship fights, they are showcasing cards from Tijuana, Guadalajara, etc. where mexican propects are fighting.

The last card they aired was in Sunday on Primetime: Arce vs Rojas, competing versus a very Popular show from televisa (kinda like American Idol), on the Mexican Independence day .

Arce's Return Free For All

When Will Boxing Return To Free English Language Television?

While Jorge Arce's return against Thomas Rojas and Edgar Soto's battle with Lorenzo Trejo flew under the radar screen of most English speaking fight fans, the card turned out to be highly entertaining.

More importantly, the card was aired for free to its intended demographic, Mexicans, on free television.

Top Rank in association with TV Azteca (and their American wing, Azteca American) presented four fights, absolutely free to fight fans in Mexico and areas in North America. Here in Los Angeles, I used my regular UHF antenna to catch the local Azteca America signal.

On the televised portion, along with the mentioned Arce and Sosa bouts, super lightweight Jorge Paez Jr. continued his climb to the top and female warrior Jackie Nava took a decision from Donna Briggers.

The cynics will cry, “This was not big time boxing!” The cynics must be gringos. Jorge Arce is a figure in Mexican popular culture that transcends the sport. The fact his return fight was aired on free television, along with three other bouts is impressive.

Boxing trivia buffs, tell me the last time a free American network (available off your regular television antenna) carried a cross-over figures fight, along with three other scraps? Never, ever, ever......

He's probably respected the way any great fighter is, but is he liked? Fuck no.But let's say between Pac & Tito Trinidad...who would you Mexicans like?

pac is respected by mexicans because of his fight style. he provides an 'all out war' every fight. of course pac will not get support if he is fighting a mexican fighter, but respected, yes. don't let the online retards fool you. ask any normal mexican person that is into boxing ( not those stupid punk ass kids on the internet message boards) and they say that they respect pacquiao because he fights like what the people want to see fighters fight.

i talk to my mex. coworkers and all they all respect pac

:rofl :rofl :rofl thats because kids here arent even mexicans..they think they are. Mexicans are like ERIK

most pseudo mexicans here like MAB and JMM

I'm not Mexican but I know for sure that they respect Pacquiao as a fighter.

But do they like him? not necessarily.

When Im watching fights with my Mexican hombres, they do give props but at the same time, they can't stop bagging on his one dimensional style and how marquez made him look like a fool.

I think If I was a real mexican, Id prefer to see my boy Knock down a fighter 3 times than someone being more technical

I have never met a Mexican who don't respect Pac. My neighbors are 60% mexicans & I see Mexicans everyday at work. So far I found one willing to bet on MAB, I hope he's serious so I can have extra money to pay my PPV bill.

Probably Trinidad. Pac gets a lot of hate shot his way because of the fact that he keeps whooping on Mexican after Mexican.:fire And Jim Lampley can get the fuck outta here with all that 'Mexicans actually like Manny' talk, only Mexican I know that actually likes Pac is that fucking traitor Freddy. But even still a fighter like that commands respect from everybody.Me myself if I am a Mexican I would respect Pac too, considering he fights like a Mexican, an exciting fighter who gives us boxing fans our moneys worth. That's why I like watching Mexican fighters like JCC, Barrera & Morales due to their brawling styles. Then Pac came into the picture. But however you cannot dislike a person based on the fact that he's been whooping Mexican after Mexican lately... it just so happened there are more Mexican boxers that belongs in his weight class.:bbb
