an inexperince Pantera Miranda, who trully has a great punch but no technique or the tools to get away from trouble at this point on his career, I am not putting Miranda down but simply stating a fact...and Pavlik beat him beat him bad...but is that really a stepping stone on your resume to fight a that's been with the best at 154 & 160.....?

You gotta start somewhere.

It's not about who beat who, it's all about styles make fights. And Taylor is no slick mover, no defensive master. Hands on his waist, chin in the air.. I think that Pavlik gonna find that chin, sooner or later.

Jermain Taylor's resume was about the same when he faced B-Hop for the title so I don't see what the fuss is about. In fact Pavlik's resume may be even a little bit better as he faced two fringe contenders who really brought the fight to him in Zertuche and Zuniga.
Exactly!
Manny and Jermaine keep bringing up that he hasnt faced anybody.Who cares. You have to get your shot at sometime in your career. This is his.

Well, we will see if BHop nor WW were able to take advantage of the drop right hand and chin in the air.......

He beat Zuniga, who is a pretty good contender.. thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

Both B-Hop and WW took advantage of this flaws on several occasions. The difference is Pavlik can crack. He's relatively slow compared to Jarmain but his timing an high output will make taylor more easy to catch with every round.

Bang on Miranda all you want, but he smoked Allan Green's ass (rated SMW), KO 1 Willie Gibbs (20-0 lots of ko's), went hell and high water with Abraham, and ko'd Eastman. I was here and Miranda was hailed as "Tyson-ish" and hardly NO ONE gave Pav a chance in hell to hang with him. It was a hell of a win and people act just a few months later like Miranda was garbage all along.:huh

Yes he did, and along with Zertuche, Pavlik is the only one to stop those two.

Fulgencio Zuniga
Jose Luis Zertuche

You cant compare anyone that Pavlik has fought to Hopkins and Wright. Pavlik is a good raw fighter with very conditioning and power, but a slick fighter with similar tools takes guys like Pavlik apart rather easily. You will see a different Kelly Pavlik when he faces Taylor.

exactly. Miranda was and still is a dangerous oppenent for anyone. hits extremly hard and has a good chin (took a lot of flush shots from pavlik). People on here cannot take that fight away from Pavlik, Miranda was steamrolling opposition that i am not sure pavlike would win against. Pavlik might have lost to green and abraham (miranda did beat abaraham btw). and he will be back to and i will cheer him on.
A resume is only proof of a fighters skill. It doesn't define it. The fact that Pavlik has a weak resume is irrelevant, as his ability is worth much more than that.

Agreed, but they were comparing Pavliks record to that of Taylors just before his 1st fight with B-Hop which they feel had more substance.
We will see how he does with his chance. I think hes earned it. Im thinking a pavlik KO / TKO in 8 or 9 .

Nope, you're right lefthook, you can not compare any of Pav's opp to winky or B-Hops. BUt can you compare any of Taylor's previous to his title shot with Hops or defense with Wink? No. That's all he''s got. Pavlik is younger and just like Taylor, you have to start somewhere.

Yes, but I think its evident that Pavlik doesnt possess the boxing skills of Taylor. Maybe before the Bhop fight Taylor was fighting similar competition, but thats when all the hype surrounding him was going on, because he was blowing guys out, just as Pavlik has. Now that he has stepped up to the elite fighters of the divison, he is showing his inexperience, not his inabilities, but his inexperience. To me Pavlik hasnt stepped up to this level yet, and the fact that Taylor has, and has Steward in his corner, is going to be a big advantage come fight night. Personally I dont think Pavlik has the skills of Taylor anyway, but we will see next week.

I think a resume of Miranda, Zertuche, and McKart is almost equal to Taylor's pre-title resume of Edouard, Joppy, and R. Marquez. Pavlik is worthy of a shot.

I think Taylor is troubled by boxers who are hard to hit but Pavlik is not that type of fighter. I think he is tailor made for taylor and will be the champs first "good" title defense in that they are both the same type of tall brawler.
Taylor should look better against Pavlik than he has against Wright, Spinks, and even Hopkins, who are all hard to hit.

boxers do not automatically get thrown into title contention they work there way there and pavlik earned his shot by beating miranda who mark my words will be a future champ

All I am saying is this: This is the first defining fight for Pavlik and JT had a number of them...now will be an adavantage ...I say yes, can Pavlik overcome I say yes also....like I mention I am not a JT fan, but I get tire of people not recognizing that he took BHop and WW to the limits...and to say he was given the discions is ludicrous ...can Pavlik win absolutely he has the power and he height to deal with JT....plus as I mentioned Dibella kept JT protected from punchers up to this fight...

Zuniga and McKart were decent wins. McKart had never been KO'd and fought some good fighters
Bronco, Zuniga, Zartuche and Miranda, sure is not bad but is not BHop twice, WW, Kassim Ouma and Corey Spinks......
Pavlik could be beat, can JT kepp him of balance, sure, he will need to have his jab working for 12 rounds, costantly, he will need to threw 30 to 40 jabs a round....can he do that...all depends on his conditioning...will Emanuel have him do this...I can;t see any other way in keeping Pavlik off balance.....if he can do this effectively for 12 rounds he could retain his title, if not he will get KO around the 10 or 11 or 12th by acculumation of punches...can he tire Pavlik and take care of him by them end of the fight, sure....but again his jab will be the key....

I have been saying KP's opponents are better than JT's before he fought B-Hop for the belt. However you would rate these fighters skills, which I believe are better than above avg, it has been the way KP won those fights. He put Zertuche in coma. He hit Bronco with a hook to the body that made him crumble. He was knocked down by Zuniga, but then went on to dominate for a late stopp age. He bounced Pierre around the ring like he owned him. He completely dismantled Miranda. Most of these fighters have never touched the canvas, let alone been knocked in the manner they were KO'ed. He may be fighting B-level competition, but he is dipsosing of them like B-level comp. :deal

well it all doesn't matter cause the truth will be revealed in 5 days time!
pavlik by ko - the moment taylor leaves himself open to a good combo.
i will enjoy reading the board a few weeks and months later down the track when people start saying
"taylor was not really any good to begin with. b-hop was ancient and hbo simply gave taylor gift after gift, blah blah blah"
is what everyone will say who was once a taylor fan.
some people have no character :yep

If Pavlik KO's Taylor, he will definitely get his props from me. I like the guy a lot, but I think he will be beaten rather easily this weekend.
