Wow, I hope this is true, I'll go and I dont give a fuck if its him just knocking round some nobody for 6 rounds.
guess it could be Matt Hatton if he wins. apparently it had a lot with Schafer being over

Cant see Floyd risking that, Matt would obviously take the majority of the purse and Floyds 0 would probably go.

Fat Hatton?
Amir Khan?
Schafer has apparently talked about doing a world tour with Floyd before. With Floyd's tax issues and not wanting to fight legit welters, i guess touring the world against some soft opponents would be a nice moneymaker for him.

Hatton in the UK would be my first choice or second Khan.
Khan could take the fight at Welterweight and not lose his championship, it would fill a football ground. Thing is, Khan could lose to a dangerous contender. You might as well get a huge PPV fight against the top man and probably lose, then go back to defending your own title.

Don't see much point of him fighting in Britain if it isn't against a Brit fighter. Floyd is kind of well known but he's not THAT popular. And I guess this fight would take place in the early hours to accommodate US TV.
Do you think British fans would stay up that long to watch Floyd vs some unknown foreigner?

It might be to soon for Khan to get the Victory but Khan has the affordability of another loss given his age and accomplishments so far! I would be surprised but never say never. I remember some guys suggesting 3 years ago Hatton could fight Manny 1 day and I along with a lot of people laughed at the notion! Humble pie!!

Bit disrespectful, especially to M Hatton, this guy is going to be a world champion on friday night. Either way, it'd be very close.

where did anyone say that these clowns had a chance? you sir are dumb cunt, make nice and fuck off back to the General Forum or at least read before replying.
whoever the opponent is, they wont be legit and this is probably going to more or less be an exxhibition for Floyd to sell some tickets.
It'll be Ricky Hatton or nobody. He's only in the habit of superfights these days, and some of the names mentioned on this thread are proposterous.
it cant be Hatton he won't be available, this will be like a De La Hoya-Forbes type deal

Good point.
Ted Bami it is.
Won't happen.
maybe not but its got Floyd move written all over it. he doesnt want to fight anyone dangerous and the Marquez fight didnt even sell out, so he wants to sell tickets a fight another gimmie. he got mobbed when he came out here and he knows he can play it like its some novelty of him fighting abroad and not have to answer as many questions about the level of opponent. Probably seen RJJ doing the same thing in Australia for $4.5m and Sugar Ray Robinson did it back in the day too.

To make it financially worthwhile moving the fight from Vegas to the UK he'll need an at least semi-viable UK opponent and there isn't one.
Both Jones and Sugar Ray had opponents from the country they were fighting in, Tyson was the exception but Mayweather isn't anywhere near that status.
I'll be VERY surprised (fucking astounded TBH!!) if this comes off.
if he wants another tune up, there wouldnt really be any money in Vegas for it. there where about 12,000 (many comped too) people in the MGM Grand for JMM which seats about 16,000 and then he was coming back from 2 years off and fighting the number 1 Mexican fighter on the week of Mexican independance day, with 2 world title fights on the undercard too. he probably thinks he could fill out the O2 fighting a no hoper, especially after the massive reaction he got coming out here earlier in the year.

Hatton is the ony draw in the UK, and he doesn't look like making 10 stone again, and floyd is the only realistic shot at welter for Hatton.
He knows British fans would buy it, because Hatton is a big draw, however there would be no interest in this fight in the US, Hatton has been brutally KO'D in 2 of his last 4 fights and his punch resistance is gone.
He should retire, he can't step up to welter and he's already cleaned up at 140, what's left to do.
Agreed, no one but Hatton or Khan would be a draw here and FW will no way let it be Khan. No one else would bring enough easy money for Floyd.
Considering some recent quotes from Hatton I suspect some talking between camps has taken place already.

I doubt very much whether he'd fill the O2 against anything but either a decent opponnent or a Brit and if was a decent opponent then the fight will be in Vegas. The number of comped/ empty seats is deceptive because in a sense they've already been bought by the casino in the site fee so its not the major problem that an half empty arena would be.
TBH I think theres more than a bit of wishful thinking going on in this thread, people trying to convince themselves it makes sense because they want it to happen...

How about him doing a joint headline show with Haye when Haye has to fight Ruiz? Its the only way I could see it happening (other than a mismatch against Khan), although knowing Mayweather his ego would be too big to ever do a joint headline show in his career now :yep

yeah it does sound like nonsense but i did call BS when Steve Kim said in January that Showtime were putting together a round robin tournament with all the big names at 168. so if he says its reliable then i am going to consider it.
