I know he's fighting out of Montreal but he hails from Normandy originally so this seems the right forum. He's also a bit of a globetrotter, fighting last in France and today in Algeria after a three-straight homestand in Quebec.

His one loss to date, against the respectable trickster Reyes Sanchez:
HrIxsNb56z4
BllmWiQ7PqE

Not a great stoppage; he didn't seem to be in trouble other than shelling up and unwisely failing to let his hands go with counters. It's his own fault, as you run the risk of the referee imposing their judgment whenever you do that, and Sanchez deserves credit for keeping the nonstop volley going once he got Ali in the corner, but still not the best judgment on the ref's part. It was a pretty obvious attempt to rope-a-dope and let Reyes punch himself out, but as stated he should have let his hands go to keep the ref out of it. They're unpublished, but you have to imagine Chebah was well ahead on the cards at this point given how in control he looked up until that moment.

His opposition in 32 ringwalks hasn't been stellar, but he does have a couple of good wins, including one over Pipino Cuevas Jr., previously unbeaten Wellington DeJesus, and these last two:

KO2 over Joel Juarez
zEpi6-cvVkE
NTr6m1RqNlU

TKO5 (should be RTD4) over Fidel Monterossa Munoz
QrB_Q4SOx0M
rp461ggpTcQ

He's not terribly agile or a great mover (looking in fact downright clumsy and two-left-footed at times), but there's plenty to like. He's adept at slipping and dodging using his head shoulders and waist. He seems comfortable and effective on the inside, has an aggressive and pesky jab, knows how to feint, and seems to pack decent two-fisted power.

That was a crunching, equilibrium-wasting 1-1-2 with a delayed reaction that won the day against Juarez.

He seems a bit underrated (as in by the ranking bodies, not the fans...among whom he seems largely unknown). Either just outside or well outside the top ten in the Ring, WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA rankings, and rated #85 by boxrec. :patsch He could definitely beat many (but certainly not all) of the higher-rated guys, IMO.

Let's make this Angel HQ, for all the Chebah-freaks and Ali-curious. :happy

Incidentally, anybody have any results or reports on the match tonight? :D Pics? Vids?

Seen him a few times on Eurosport in the past altough not ecently.

Nothing...

Unimpressive against limited opposition.Won't amount to nothing.

Nothing? Are you sure that's not just stylistic preference? He's not a flashy boxer-mover, but he's got some good qualities. He applies more pressure and likes to get down and dirty in the trenches more than your typical slick counterpuncher; and at the same time he's more defensively skilled and accurate than your average swarmer. His one loss is kind of flukey.

I don't think he'd stand much of a chance against the Timothy Bradleys of the world, but a war with an Edner Cherry or Victor Cayo would be entertaining and competitive.

Nothing in the real big picture.

Obviously in the lower class of talent he m ight do something altough I don't trust.

Don't think he's better than Jojo Dan tbh and Jojo is garbage.

He looks better in these videos than the first and only time I caught him which was on the Ngoudjo/Urango undercard. He was garbage that night, he had a tough time looking impressive against a scrub.

That's the last time I saw him too.

Decarie looked more impressive against Spivey that night than him.

Garbage is what I wanted to use too but I thought it would be a bit to much.

Underrated? He's ranked like #4 by the WBC, and their entire top 10 is comprised of really limited prospects who have made it through handpicked opponents.

Can't say I've been too impressed with what I've seen, though I didn't take the time to watch the videos above. Eventually maybe a fight between him and Jojo Dan will make good money in Montreal, but I'm not thrilled with either of them. Of the Montreal prospects, David Lemieux is the one who really sticks out to me.

He needs to step up the competition, why is he fighting limited guys in canada when Europe has some good welters that could get him in the rankings.

I seen his last fight looked good although the guy he was fighting wasn't up to much.

lemieux looks good. nice technique and seems to know what he is doing not like "sonny" chebah. who bumbles foreward he reminds me of that british flyweight that fought chris edwards not long ago. brian strege actually moves better than him, i dont think thats even an ovetstatement.

lemieux is getting too much attention for a guy trying to learn the game. dont think it's good for him. but in comparison chebah is gahaaaash.
