I'm depressed about Tyson's situation.. I hope he's staying off the drugs.
On the other hand, Tyson may need some time to collect his mind and make future plans, maybe he should write a book himself, I would buy it.

i agree man, i dont think tyson himself is a bad person, I think he is just suffering as a result of the people who he ahd around him. Mike needed some guidance in his earlier years, and he never really had that. its kind of a shame though. I agree with magic, if he came out with a book I would definately buy it

Tyson can use the prison time to get away from Givens/the media, and get himself back into championship shape. Then, he can first KO Marcus Rhode, then Kevin McBride, then Danny Williams, and then Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title. Remember: people counted Foreman out in 1987 and they counted Holyfield out in 1997. Tyson still has his punch!
If he gets into a tight security prison, he'll be safer from temptation than anywhere else. Accounts of Tyson during 1991-1995 suggest he was in a far greater state of peace and intellectual development when he was behind bars.

I know psychology, and seriously, Tyson seems to have given up all hope. I hope he's not suicidal
Tyson should come back and be serious. Get Manny or Shelly to train him. He can still punch, if he could resume his old fitness and upper body and head movement, he could KO all current heavyweights except W. Klitschko.

Nothing to worry about, even if Tyson goes to jail it won't be long.

Seriously - what Mike needs is help. If he can get it in jail then good, but I don't know if that will be happening or not.

The US justice system is BS. This is a waste of time and Mike doesnt deserve such a long sentance for substance abuse. If this is for DUI why not send him to rehab?

I was thinking it's a shame aswell. Tyson is responsible for his actions, but I can't help think that if it was any other well-known person, or anyone else for that matter, they would not be punished as severely as Tyson is likely to be!
If I'm honest, I fear for Mike if he does get a lengthy sentence. As Mike once said, prison doesn't rehabilitate, it dehabilitates you!
Just when it seemed Mike was content, getting his life in order, this type of thing happens. If Mike has remained clean since being caught with drugs, I hope this goes in his favour.
I'm not hopeful of the jury/judge showing any mercy though, as it's Tyson being prosecuted.

If it is a dui, i know a person that just got popped for the third (i believe) time and this person has to drive with one of those things you have to blow into before your car will start. Was it drugs or booze? Whatever, its a shame:verysad

He doesn't have a daddy who owns a string of hotels so he has to do a proper sentence.

Let us not beat around the bush. Tyson is a fuck up. Prison is one way of TRYING to sort him out. He is mentally unstable, a sex pest, a drunk, a druggy etc etc etc
A great boxer but a person who needs help is a person who needs help. Doesn't matter if he is a prophet.

Unfortunately, I agree. In all honesty, prison might be a better alternative for Mike right now than freedom. If he's going to get coked up and then drive erratically, putting the lives of others in danger, I'd rather him be in prison.
I'd love to see him make a turnaround and become an analyst one day. He'd be great at that, if he could keep himself together.

If mike pleaded guilty there has to have had a plea bargain somewhere along the line which says he will probably get re-hab and long term probation with random drug testing. You just don't plead guilty unless there has been a
pre-arangement as to the sentence.

What use does it serve to put him away for 4 years for DUI? When he comes he`ll still be the same person only more bitter.Jail doesnt rehab anyone.

Exactly. Lindsay Lohan violated her PROBATION by basically carjacking a truck with three black guys inside, chasing a employee down the street. When one guy tried to get out, she ran over his foot. When the cops finally pulled her over they found she was drunk AGAIN and had coccaine in her purse and Lohan claimed it was the black guys who were driving. Imagine if Tyson got caught doing this exact crime.

He's too old to move like that and has spent years not treating his body properly, as this drug case would suggest....
I just hope things can work out. People are going to look back on our time and wish they could have been around for Tyson's era.

From roughly 5 upwards is an appropriate enough age to know wether you want to be pissed on or not. Bottom line is this stinks. The Judge is a fucking asshole. He is deliberately going for the maximum sentance.Considering his supposed to be completely unbiased this sentance reeks of bullshit. I mean 4 years for taking cocaine?!?!?! Other than being a thorough waste of tax payers money it serves no purpose to even help Mike re-adjust his life properly.
KhanB
09-24-2007, 05:03 PM
You get caught pissing on a 6 year old then and tell the judge above 5 is appropiate.
Oh yeah, get it on tape too.
To me, thats worse than using drugs.
Mike should have moved to the Netherlands, this would not have been a problem.

Half the world takes drugs. You parents probably did, the police do and your teachers did too. Heck, even half the legal profession does - only you never hear about it!
It's an unspoken truth but a truth none the less. Charges like this are bullshit which ruin a man's life. The sooner the government legalizes this shit the sooner the prison's stop overflowing with unecesarry convicts.
Agree!

Half the world doesnt drive drunk and use cocaine while their driving though. Half the world doesnt pull out in front of cops when theyre high on coke. Half the world doesnt make millions and blow it all four different times. Half the world doesnt receive a hundred chances to rehabilitate themselves and make a better life. Tyson has had way more chances then he ever deserved, and he continues to stick his middle finger up to society and the fair rules it implies. Whatever he gets he deserves, and he knows it.
The reason their is laws against drugs is because idiots like Tyson use and go out and kill people in their cars. What if its your loved one he runs into and kills, are you going to feel the same way about him? Lets face it Tyson like so many others cant survive in society, thats why his life has been full of drama and trips to the penitentary.

Tyson was undisputed most exciting boxer in the history of the sport, while I might not agree with Tysons life style who can blame a guy who never had a real friend in his life. Like Tyson once said " cant I just get a blow job", we could all use one at times.

A quote from Tyson's lawyer:
The former heavyweight champ is facing four years and three months in prison, but he is eligible for probation under the plea deal. Chesnoff also added. "If there had been more people interested in Mike's well-being and health along the way, we wouldn't be here now."
Here's a little phrase for you to look up while you're behind bars, Mike:
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Enough with the "I'm from Brownsville" bullshit. The man isn't 8 years old anymore.

He had plenty of real friends when he started out, as I understand....but he blew it. The funny thing about Tyson is that he seems to have a real attitude problem towards white people whereas he was taken to the cleaners by black people, in the main. Be it King or Givens or Washington or whatever.
When he was with D'Amato, Rooney, Cayton and Jacobs he seemed like he was being looked after quite nicely, as far as I could tell - in his personal and professional life.

He has a plea deal, but the press probably don't want to speculate until they see what the judge does. However unlikely, the judge doesn't have to honor the plea agreement.

They looked after him, but they were thinking dollar signs as well. They also (mainly Cus) let a lot of Tyson's bad behavior slide due to his talent.

I can imagine Don King in Tysons cell now....
"Come now Miikey, see what these white devils have done to you. You just can't trust them you know. Here, sign this highly dubious contract promising you untold wealth....."
Personally, I don't think King would want to be in the same cell as Mike. Tyson doesn't like King, in fact, he despises him & has stated as much. Mike knows full well King & cronies robbed him of millions.
Have you seen Beyond the glory? Mike's lawyer points out that just one cheque that was found was to take $43M from Mike's account, then put it into King's bank account.
How King got away with it for so long, I'll never know! Tyson is not the only fighter either.

It would be a shame to see him get the max sentence.
Especially since he plead guilty. If theyre gonna give him the max when pleading, he might have well got a lawyer and fought the case.
I think he does need some time, for his own good. If he got say only one month, I could see him falling back into the same shit soon again. Maybe a year long stint can help him get his shit together.
I dont see him as being able to compete in boxing anymore. What he has is fame, everyone recoginizes him but no one wants to hire him for commercials. I dont understand why, cause of his bad image?
Fucking coca cola hires 50 cent, a guy who has a rap sheet as bad or worse than Tyson and sings about all kinds of nonfamily friendly stuff, yet Coke gave him millions which i cant understand.
