I do it. I wouldnt go out and get hammered if u have training or ur working out the next day. I don't think that the drinking effects me too much...I only do it about once a week though. I'm sure it would effect u if ur doing it 3 or 4 times a week.
Also, I drink liquor instead of beer so I don't gain as much weight.

Yeah, beer puts weight on. So if you are trying to keep it down, then stick to spirits. Alcoholonly really affects your reaction time and judgement, so it shoould be ok as long as its a decent time before you train.
BTW Kostya says in his first book he loves a beer, and when not training for a fight usually has a coldie after training.

me neither. I dont even like it. Not like some of my friends just wait till the weekend just to get drunk and that's all they live for. Last time when I said to them that I don't drink they looked at me like I was from a diffrent planet.
I just dont like it!
I know B hopkins doesn't drink and doesn' smoke.
I drink on occasion, but not enough to get drunk.

I never drank until I got to Wildcard, I would go to a my friend Big James's fights and almost always after he fought we would get drinking, but drinking leading up to a fight can not be good, I have never done that, since I havent been boxing any more I have drank a bit not like every day but its nice to finally be able to get to do things you have kept yourself away from for so long.

Whenever I fight I usually wind up going out with my boy who also fights and we head to a party and ill drink. I hardly ever drink anymore I used to be drunk all the time before I took up boxing training.

hmmmm
If I liked it I would probably drink occasionaly, it's just that I don't know what the fuss is all about. When I sit with my co-workers or my friends and they always talk about getting drunk, throwing up and they all think it is so cool to get drunk and wasted. I can hardly drink 3-4 beers one after the other. I think that drinking in moderation is fine but not like 80-90% of people I run into. They live on that. If it wasn't for that party on saturday or for that cluubing on friday they would be depressed all the time I guess.
I don't know Either I dont fit in here or I was not supposted to be born in that era:)
There are people that will try to fit into that lifestyle just to fit! so they won't be looked on as losers or geeks that don't drink or smoke. They fall under the pressure. I dont get caught up it that. I will go out once in a while when it's my friends birthday or some family event but other then that I rather go to gym or attent some tournament and watch fights or just simply read a book.

Ya, about once every week or two I fall off the wagon and drink my share. Its only on Saturdays, it ruins every Sunday, and I have about 2 extra pounds of fat by Monday, so then I train like shit Monday. By Tuesday all is good again. Just wonder how much better I would be if I did not "waste" those couple days.

They've already done studies on it and it doesn't make you put on weight. Every alcoholic drink has just around the same number of calories. Even a shot of vodka has somewhere around 100. They use to say having one drink a day was good for your heart. But a new study says those who average 2-3 a day were the healthiest. Everything comes at a cost but in this case the pros beat the cons. For women you're only suppose to have 1 a day at the most because of the difference of the liver. There was another study that showed those who had a glass of beer instead of a glass of water rehydrated better after a workout, doesn't work for me though. If you're really concerned about something the best thing is to do some research on your own and find as many reliable sources/studies as possible.
I prefer to have about 3 glasses of Guinness a week with dinner. Other weeks I like to have some cognac, bourbon, or scotch. Don't really like anything else except for wine but I have a problem with finishing the bottle if no one else wants. Just a problem with keeping it fresh till the next time.

Drinking is fine when your not getting ready for a fight but it should always be drank with a side of water. Alcohol and Caffein cause the body to dehydrate so you should drink a glass of water in between beers or soda's to rehydrate your body. Also if you drink water with beer you'll end up thanking yourself in the morning:good
