Considered one of Romania's trifecta of quality pugilistic exports along with fellow Montreal transplants Bute and Diaconu, but has received considerably less press than his brethren, likely due to his lack of stiff competition. He's kind of like the Yan Barthelemy of the group if you compare them to the "Defector Package" of Cuban amateur stars including Solis and Gamboa (except that he's still undefeated).

Who's seen more of him than what's publicly available here? How does he stack up against some top 20 or even back-end of top 10 guys at 140 lbs? Is he just being guided slowly along with extra caution and TLC, or protected because of some fatal flaw or deficiency that will be exposed at higher levels?

This victim had gone 24 rounds with Leo Dorin a few years back.

That's my boy.But honestly he ain't that good,young,well prmoted or lucky.

I've seen him live and also have many tapes of his fights in Canada and Romania.

Knocking out a old,shot,smaller Balbi does not impress me,Pepe was not the same man who went t owar with Dorin..His best win/performance was probably wth Delgado considering the opponnet(Delgado arguably beat Malignaggi some years ago).
Jojo was far more athletic and mobile earlier in his career but him contiuning to fight scrubs has made him fight on their level,he has lost his head movement and often times he is complacent with a average performance.He hasn't been impressive since Balbi and he has fought since(example the decent chap you mention,Peter Semo of Uganda,who went the distance,altough losing most of every round but was stopped by a Italian based Cuban in his next outing I beieve).Also he looks to have lost some punching power and combination punching,often times tieing the guy up after 1 landed punch.He is better than that scrub Ali Chebah though.
Honesty Interbox signed him because of Bute who put a good word for him since they were friends since their amateur days.He'd be another Victor Lupo or Rocky Floriano if not.
What I like about the kid is that he came from big poverty,wanted so badly to turn pro across the pond and trusted a POS trainer/manager con artist in the Canadia nbased Romanian Adrian Teodorescu who fucked his career and life really.Jojo up to recently was not even a full time boxer since he worked in a helicpter factory in Toronto and was living with Bute till recently in Montreal.
Quite a party animal but has since settled down a bit with a older chick he dates now.
Hope he gets a title eliminator vs Olusegun and a title shot.
