Jake la motta vs Charlry Burley
La motta never avoided no one and beat and lost to holman williams and lloyd marshall who were both just as good as burley, was this fight ever close to happening? both at there best i think jake beats burley
When Both Were welterweight world champion's
Pipino Cuevas vs Ray Learnard it was spoke about but nothing more, what a great clash of stlyles. I think ray stops cuevas in 8
Marvin Hagler vs Herol Graham graham was calling out hagler for years, but by that time hagler only wanted super fights. I think graham upsets the 1985 hagler, his hi and move style was all wrong for hagler by then
Tony Ayala vs Roberto Duran was close to happening but duran lost to kirklind lang and then tony went to jail. I think duran breaks ayala down and stops him late
Carlos Monzon vs Hugo Pastor Corro a year or so after monzon retired corro went on to beat valdez and become champion, was monzon ever tempted to come back and fight him in what would of been argie's biggest fight of all time? also while monzon was champion corro was a contender why didnt it happen then? I think monzon wins this on points or late stoppage
What are your thoughts on these fights there out comes and why they never happend?

Any version of Hagler should've been enough to knock Graham out, IMO. Graham was more of an ugly, extremely unorthodox spoiler than a pure boxer. Too flawed defensively to handle Hagler's barrage.

Not real educated on the older stuff so I'll be a newb and say -
Lennox Lewis v Riddick Bowe
Riddick Bowe v Mike Tyson
James Toney v Bernard Hopkins
Prime Trinidad v Prime RJJ
Trinidad - Mosley
Prime Hopkins v Prime RJJ (Bhop was too green for their first fight)
Liston - Marciano
Foreman - Tyson
Foreman - Holmes
Tyson - Early Holyfield
Tyson - Foreman
Hearns - Hagler 2
KLITSCHKO v KLITSCHKO
Naseem Hamed v many people
Mosley - Hatton would be pretty good but unlikely
Mosley - Judah or Judah - Hatton
um thats enough, good to think about those.

Add Rocky Marciano vs Sonny Liston to that list. Marciano/Liston in 1956 could've been an upset.
one of the best fights never to happen, listons jab against the rock's right hand

Was Liston even rated in the top 10 in 1956?

The version of Williams that LaMotta beat was past-prime by distance and LaMotta beat him by a whisker in an MD that was booed by sections of the crowd. That's the popular white swarmer being booed in favour of the old, black slickster...very close fight. Prime for prime Burley wins that one IMO.
Burley was keen and offers were made but LaMotta was not. The reported quote was:"What do I need Burley for when I have Zivic?"

For me the big one is Barbados Joe Walcott vs Tommy Ryan.
A winner there would have had a good claim to the the #1 all time welter.

Not an easy one to call with no film of either fighter.
Ryan was the more consistent of the two and had better results vs common oponents. He also fought them under more favourable circumstances and to a less hectic schedule.
Walcott could be outboxed but it wasn't easy. If you went toe to toe with him you were prety much toast provided you weighed less than 175 lbs. He was a bit like Paquio in that bigger oponents just represented an easier target.
Ryan was probably the best pure boxer of the period and he was a pound for pound puncher to boot. This combination might be enough for him to overcome Walcott. Having said that Walcott brought a lot of pressure to his oponents and he seems to have wanted the fight more than Ryan.
If you put a gun to my head I would probably bet on Walcott based on his best performences, despite the fact that he was less consistant. It would not be a confident pick though.
